GLENN: John Kerry has some yachting problems and I feel bad for him. While Massachusetts could make yachts, he had to go all the way to New Zealand to get his.
PAT: Oh, is that where he got it?
GLENN: Yeah. And now for so many reasons, none of them have to do with taxes, for so many reasons he's docking it at Newport, Rhode Island instead of Massachusetts.
PAT: Maintenance mainly, I think.
GLENN: Yeah. Well, they have the facilities.
PAT: Yes, yes.
GLENN: That a land locked state like Massachusetts just does not have.
PAT: The huge facilities that a massive city like, I don't know, Providence or Newport can offer where Boston has nothing.
GLENN: It was really only one of the first ports in America.
PAT: Yeah, you can't expect Boston to have the yachting facility that Newport does.
GLENN: I mean, Boston is so far away from any kind of water.
PAT: And you know it has nothing to do with the $500,000 he would owe in taxes.
GLENN: What? No.
PAT: No.
STU: And $70,000 annual tax?
PAT: Right, right.
GLENN: Nothing to do with that. He was asked about it yesterday and a little exchange with he and a reporter.
REPORTER: Senator, are you going to pay those taxes back on the boat?
KERRY: Wait a minute. Let's get this very straight. I said consistently we will pay our taxes. We've always paid our taxes. It is not an issue, period.
REPORTER: Senator, did you berth the boat in Massachusetts since you bought it? Then you would owe the tax.
KERRY: Beg your pardon?
REPORTER: Did you berth the boat in Massachusetts?
KERRY: That depends on who owns it, Joe. Can I get out of here, please?
GLENN: Can I get out of here, please?
STU: Wait, that depends on who owns it?
PAT: Yeah, I didn't fully understand.
GLENN: Does he own it?
STU: It's his boat. What do you mean he owns it?
GLENN: What, are you taking tips from Robert Gibbs?
PAT: I think the answer is, yes, I berthed it in Massachusetts but is he claiming not to be the owner when it was berthed? Is that what he's saying?
STU: I think he berthed it in Rhode Island, which is the issue, right?
GLENN: So we have yet another berther question?
STU: (Laughing).
PAT: Yes.
GLENN: Boy, these guys just can't stop.
PAT: They won't stop.
GLENN: I'd like to see the boat's berth certificate, please. Where was it berthed?
STU: Heard it was berthed in Kenya, I'm just saying on the Internet it says that.
