GLENN: Oh, there is there is good news on medical treatment. Obamacare kicks in today and can you feel it?
PAT: That's today?
GLENN: That's today. Oh, yeah. It's going to be great. And now that we have passed the bill, we know what's in the bill and we can start to see some of the things that are coming. According to the Washington Examiner today
PAT: Now people will get excited.
GLENN: Yes. Obamacare is not going to decrease the health care costs for the government. According to Medicare's actuary, it's going to increase the cost. The same is likely to happen with privately funded health care. As written, Obamacare covers elective abortions, contrary to Obama's promise that it wouldn't. This means that your tax dollars will be used now to pay for the procedure millions of Americans across the political spectrum view as immoral.
Now, the Department of Health and Human Services are going to bar abortion coverage with new regulations but this is going to go to the court and it's going to be tied up in litigation for years. In the end it probably will lose. Obamacare is not going to allow employees or most small businesses to keep the coverage that they have and like. How many times did we hear this? By Obama's estimates, as many as 69% of employees and 80% of small businesses, 64% of large businesses are now going to be forced to change their coverage probably to more expensive plans. Obamacare is also going to increase insurance premiums. In some places it already has. Insurers suddenly forced to cover client's children until the age 26, have little choice but to raise premiums. Obamacare is going to force seasonal employers if you work for Disney, a seasonal employer if you work at Sundance or Snow Bird or if you work in Vail or Aspen, if you work for a ski or amusement park industry, the Obamacare is going to force your employer to pay huge fines which will then people will cut hours or lay off employers because you're not providing year round health care.
Obama forces Obamacare is going to force states to guarantee not only payment but also treatment for indigent Medicaid patients. Doctors are now beginning to refuse to take Medicaid because they lose so much money in doing so. Cash strapped states are going to be sued and ordered to increase reimbursement rates beyond their means.
Obamacare imposing a huge nonmedical tax compliance burden on small businesses. It is going to require a mailing of a 1099 tax form to every vendor from whom they make a purchase of more than $600 in a year. So, everyone that you or I buy anything from in a year, $600, that's not hard to have it add up to $600, you're now going to have to file an IRS 1099 with duplicate forms going to the IRS. There are 2500 pages in this bill. Our senators and representatives say now they were unaware of this one when they passed the measure.
Obamacare allows the IRS to confiscate part or all of your tax refund if you do not purchase a qualified insurance plan. The bill funds 16,000 new IRS agents to make sure that you stay in line. Congratulations. We had to pass the bill to find out what was in the bill and that is the beginning of what is in the bill
PAT: But the good news doesn't end there.
GLENN: You mean there's more?
PAT: No. There's way more. Tourism is going to be up.
GLENN: What do you mean, tourism is going to be up?
PAT: Medical tourism.
GLENN: People coming here?
PAT: No. People going from here to Mexico, of course, which is good for Mexico and that's what we're, you know, mostly concerned with.
GLENN: Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
PAT: So, Mexican Mexican economy, the Mexican economy will sky rocket as efforts to reform the U.S. health care system falls victim to political maneuvering. As the tenacious, according to the story, recession leaves more Americans without jobs or working for employers who can no longer afford to provide coverage, adding a medical procedure to the vacation itenary looks increasingly more attractive. So, more and more Americans are leaving American and going to Mexico for things like a hip, a repaired hernia, capped teeth.
GLENN: Hang on just a second. I'm not going to Mexico for the beach. Who's going to Mexico for a hip, for any kind of surgery? You drag my ass across the border.
PAT: Not me.
GLENN: I don't care if I am hemorrhage I don't care if my head has been cut off, which is also likely to happen on the border of Mexico. You drag me across the border. Who is going to Mexico
GLENN: willingly and saying, do you know what
PAT: How desperate do you have to be? That is stunning, that you would go down there and trust. I mean, you don't know what you're getting.
GLENN: That is amazing.
PAT: You don't know what you're getting. So, there's a frightening trend, too. With everything up in the air, though, the way it is, people don't know where to turn and so they're even turning to Mexico. You know, there in Texas people do go across the border and I thought it was a stupid a stupid idea. They go across the border to get cheaper drugs and, you know, in some cases you can also, I guess, get it without a prescription there, but that's a dicey deal. You don't know what's in some of those drugs that they sell at the pharmaceuticals.
GLENN: Oh. No. Mexico drugs I think are very good.
PAT: Do you?
GLENN: Sure. I think that's one thing down on the border. They know. They know drugs.
PAT: I'm talking prescription drugs.
GLENN: Oh. Prescription drugs?
GLENN: Oh, okay.
PAT: I think most right thinking people wouldn't do that. You certainly wouldn't want to go there to get your hernia repaired or a facelift.
