McCain runs strong as Democrats battle on

Why is this man smiling?

Arizona Sen. John McCain could understandably be scowling: He could face a more difficult political landscape than any presidential candidate in a generation.

Only 39% of Americans have a favorable view of the Republican Party he represents, the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows. A record 63% say the Iraq war he defends was a mistake. The disapproval rating for President Bush, the incumbent McCain has embraced, has hit 69%, the most negative assessment of any president since Gallup began asking the question 70 years ago.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Thursday to explain how "rabid partisanship" is causing President Joe Biden and his administration to make the political decisions directly responsible for the "absolute crisis at the border" — and it's getting worse every day.

Cruz described how the Biden administration is caving to the "hard left" agenda that supports open borders and views U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as the equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan or Nazis. He listed the Trump-era policies Biden has overturned, including halting construction of the border wall, re-instituting the failed policy of "catch and release," and ending the "Remain in Mexico" policy — "a big foreign policy victory of the Trump administration."

Cruz then sounded off on the left's unbelievable hypocrisy concerning the "kids in cages" narrative, and the Biden administration's "laughable" excuse for not allowing journalists access to border facilities.

"For four years of the Trump presidency, Democrats and the media talked every day about kids in cages. What they ignored is that Barack Obama built the cages. You and I both went to those cages during the Obama administration," Cruz told Glenn. "They utterly ignored that. And now, Joe Biden is making the cages bigger, and they're more full. And I'll tell you, it's truly a catastrophe. You take a facility, like the Donna facility in South Texas. It has a capacity of 250 people ... it currently has nearly 4,000."

"So, there's a reason why the Biden administration is trying to hide it. I'm flying down to the border tonight, and I'm bringing 18 senators down to the border to see firsthand what's happening. But the Biden administration is refusing to allow press to join us," Cruz continued.

"They won't allow reporters in and, Glenn, their justification is laughable on its face. They say, the reason why they won't allow reporters in is because reporters might have COVID. So one cameraman, a cameraman, and they say, 'No, too big of a COVID risk. We can't let the guy with the camera in.' It's because they want to hide the absolute disaster," he added. "You want to talk about COVID-19? Glenn, I'll give you a stunning statistic. Of the illegal immigrants that are being released in Arlington, Texas, they are testing positive for COVID-19 at a rate seven times higher than the U.S. population."

Democrats want us to believe that guns are the threat, when it is their policies that are the real danger to people's lives. They don't care if you're a single mother living in a rough neighborhood. The Left isn't concerned with your protection and well-being. They want you disarmed, period.

They've concentrated the intelligence community, the FBI, and even the military on the false threat of hordes of white supremacists and domestic extremists living next door. This is about CONTROL, and this week gave the Left yet another crisis to help them seize it. But only if we let them.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) joins Glenn Beck on the Wednesday night TV special to discuss whether any legislation could prevent another mass shooting like we saw in Atlanta, Georgia, and Boulder, Colorado.

South Carolina state Senator Tom Corbin (R) details his bill to protect citizens in his state from federal disarmament.

Finally, Glenn tells Americans what they can do at the local level to protect the sacred words "shall not be infringed."

The Biden administration's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just signed an $86.9 million contract "to provide temporary shelter and processing services for families who have not been expelled and are therefore placed in immigration proceedings for their removal from the United States," acting ICE Director Tae D. Johnson said in a statement earlier this week. "The $86.9 million contract provides 1,239 beds and other necessary services."

On a recent episode of the "Glenn Beck Radio Program," Glenn and producer Stu Burguiere couldn't help noticing that $86.9 million for 1,239 additional beds calculates out to … HOW much per bed?! (Hint: it's a LOT more than your $1,400 stimulus check.)

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) had a tense interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson on Monday over claims she "caved to the NCAA." Rather than signing a bill that would have banned transgender girls and women from competing against biological females in sports, Noem returned it to the legislature for "style and form" changes, arguing to Carlson the current version "wouldn't solve the problem."

Noem joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Tuesday to defend her decision, saying conservatives must be "strategic" in the fight to defend Title IX, which is why she's formed national coalition to do just that.

"When have you ever known me to cave, Glenn? I didn't go through this whole last year, being the only one to keep my state open in the entire nation, to fight for what was right, and have everybody piling on, to cave on something like this," Noem asserted. "So, I'm trying to be smart and solve a problem. And I think a lot of times, we get bullied. We get bullied by the Left, but the Right can bully, too. And they're not looking at the facts. So in this situation, the coalition that I'm forming is to go after the NCAA. They have been bullying states for a long time with their policies by forcing us to allow men to participate in women's sports.

"I'm a small state. South Dakota is small," she continued. "We have to fight hard to even get any tournaments or games in the state of South Dakota. And I recognize the NCAA can come in and crush me, and can make an example out of me, and point to South Dakota and say, 'See, no other state better challenge us whatsoever.' So that's why I'm trying to be smart about this and build a coalition of athletes, of states, of governors, of attorneys generals, and show the NCAA that we're going to fight to make sure that only girls can play in girls' sports."

"We have to stand and up defend the rights that we have, and the federal law that we have in place, that women are women and only women should play in women's sports. And we can do that in a way that picks a fight — and fails — or we can do it in the smart way, and build momentum, so that we can actually win," Noem explained, adding that she's been fighting this issue "for years" now.

"If people would do their homework for once, and go back and look, [they would see that] years ago, I fought the USDA and the federal government when they were trying to force rodeos to let boys into girls' events and to make girls participate in boys' events. And I fought them alone. And got South Dakota to be able to still keep boys' and girls' events separated," she added. "So there there's no gray area for me on this. I've proven myself for years on this issue. And I'll continue to do this, regardless of who decides that they want to try to attack me and bully me."
