Believing.
Today's Reading:
Question:
There is so much disbelief in the world today, we have forgotten what it's like to believe in something bigger than ourselves. Do you still believe?
Application:
Today, search the word belief. Ask yourself these questions:
1. What does it mean?
2. Am I lacking?
3. How do I change my unbelief?
Then have some quiet time and talk with God asking Him to help you with your unbelief.
MLK Pledge - #4:
Pray daily to be used by God in order that all men might be free.
Quotes:
“The will of God is always a bigger thing than we bargain for, but we must believe that whatever it involves, it is good, acceptable and perfect." - Jim Elliot
“Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see." - C. S. Lewis
Here are some of YOUR responses from Day 18: Mercy.
Melinda Rimini:
I'm glad that you can get my husband to do the 40 days 40 nights challenge (not that I completely know what it is about), but I can't even get him to do marriage worksheets to work on relationships issues, goals, etc.
Walt Overbay:
Mercy compliments compassion and forgiveness. Rather than being judgmental, which I think is human nature, we should show mercy. We are commanded by the Lord to administer true and sound justice, and to show mercy and compassion to each other. As with the other aspects of this 40 day/40 night challenge, showing mercy is not the easy path. That's why it's called a challenge. It's certainly difficult for me. I must put it into daily practice. The innumerable rewards are worth the struggle.
Susan Best:
What is Mercy? The first word is Forgiveness; to forgive when we are "justified" to seek justice or punishment. Mercy happens when we refuse to stay hurt or angry and seek to understand, give a second chance and support a deeper more peaceful heart.
