Honor.
Today's Reading:
Question:
What does it mean to have a desire to live honorably? Honor means to be a man or woman who is honest, fair and with integrity in beliefs or actions. But how do we develop the desire to be a person of honor?
I am a man that didn't live with honor for most of my life. I had made too many mistakes and was hiding too many secrets. When my life finally flamed out and I lost everything, the ONLY thing I wanted back was my honor. My integrity. I wanted to be able to look a man in the eye and tell him "this is true" and have him believe me.
I probably shouldn't say this, as my enemies will try to use it against me, but the hardest thing I ever deal with is when someone says, I only do this for money or shock value or ratings. Or if someone who represents me treats others dishonorably, I feel it reflects on me and hurts my hard earned integrity. Imagine how The Lord feels when I don't live up to his standards. When I claim to be a Christian. How do I reflect on Him?
Forgive me Lord.
I made a pact with The Lord. If he removed my sin, I would serve Him and try to live a life with honor.
Application:
Today, take some time to ask yourself - why do you want to live honorably? Take this question and discuss it with your family and friends. Decide together what it is that inspires or creates your desire to live honorably.
What are the things in your life that might skirt dishonor? How does dishonor not only effect you but your family?
