Tim Tebow and the Broncos do it again

The Denver Broncos, led by the inexplicably controversial Tim Tebow, pulled off another miracle this weekend against the Bears. Trailing 10-0 in the final minutes, Tebow managed a scoring drive, the defense stepped up & got the ball back – and the kicker nailed a 59 yard field goal to send the game to overtime. Glenn, not knowing anything about sports, still had a theory as to how Tebow is pulling off this win streak.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Glenn, with Tebow the answer is very simple — God is using the man and his faith as a means to have others ask “What is going on here, there is something special occuring…”

He is living his faith, as all of us should to the best we can in the firm reliance upon God by faith and by His grace.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard!  So you’re saying god actually cares about a millionaire football player winning a close game?????  What about the homeless children that die on the streets everyday from hunger??  This is the biggest problem with religion for me, if there really is a god, he would not care about football, just like he doesn’t care about the house that a tornado missed, or a building that stays standing after an earthquake…. What about the peoples’ homes that were destroyed?  Where they sinners?  What about the football team that can’t seem to win a game, are they sinners?  The idea that there is a higher power that decides all these things is ridiculous.  If there is a higher power, I’m sure football games is last on his list.

Tebow, sticking to his core values, has a lesson for all our politicians.  Man up, take the heat that is going to come your way when the MSM, libs, and progs want to talk you down.  Thanks Tim.

I think that Tim’s faith in God is amazing!!!  I also think that you would see others relying on God publicly if it were allowed!!!  For the most, America has turned their back on God…we offend others when we want to keep prayer in schools, or when the President of the United States doesn’t want to honor our National Prayer Day.  God would show up in a lot more places if we would all step out on a leap of faith and publicly acknowledge God!

I heard another NFL player talking about Tim on the news the other day.  He said, “Everyone gets it.  We all know that Tim loves Jesus.  He can quit telling us now.”  I laughed out loud and thought, “you don’t get it.  If you did, then you would know that when you love Jesus, you are supposed to tell anyone and everyone any chance you get.”  LOL!!!!  Go Tim…The Broncos are my new favorite NFL team.  :)

I agree that this is an undue investment of religious energy into a relatively silly issue. God bless Tim Tebow for what he does, and if he calls on God for assistance in his work more power to him. But obviously God doesn’t seem to empirically favor the “holier” football players, and connecting dots into a “theory” seems more superstition than faith that, yes, leads to derision in the form of the previous poster. We need to stop misrepresenting the benefits of holiness as always occurring in this life…if anything the Lord said life would be harder when we take up our cross. Good for Tim Tebow and I hope he does recognize his God-given talents. But c’mon Glenn, you usually have better things to talk about.

Do you know what Tebow does with his money?  Opens a childrens’ hospital in the Philippines.  I don’t think God cares about football, but He does care how we live our lives everyday.  Tebow is man of integrity, and the fact that he is a Christian seems to give a free pass to bash him.  If he were a muslim, no one would be saying a thing.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Chase — what I see God doing is using Tebow to reach out to all of those who are sinners that have not come to know Him and our Lord Jesus. God reaches to all people in many ways, one of which is by the example of the faith EACH OF US LIVES.

The football game is meaningless, the life of the person is what he is using to reach out and is precious.

it is not God’s purpose to fix the World.. His purpose is have Christ as King of the world, and to do that, He calls all of his chosen children to bring Himm the glory He deserves.. but you would not understand his plans, because for what i can tell, you are not His son.. and you have not been given His sight.
In order to have peace, there must be war, in order to have justice, there must be injustice, there is always a balance, and he is in everything good and bad, but he is not bad, he allows things to happen, so we can see His mercy and grace, and turn to Him, in the good and the bad.

God may not care about football, or this one guy’s career, but he may care about the 65,000 fans watching this one guy on a Sunday afternoon.  Sometimes God uses things we care about to get our attention.  Jesus turned water into wine, although he may not have cared about the party just the miracle.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1200313576 Marilyn Schneider

What you seem to forget, or perhaps don’t realize, is that God sacrificed His only begotten son in order to save the lives of us all.  Jesus was a perfect man who committed no sin, knew no anger, loved all men beyond any imagination, and yet he suffered upon a cross in order to save millions upon millions of sinners.  Sometimes it is the most just among us who suffer because God knows they can handle it, and in the end, their faith in Him saves them all.  And why not a millionaire professional football player??  In our society, we often find that if we truly want a message delivered to the masses, it is often the words or actions of a “famous” person that grabs our attention, whether for good or evil.  So if this man is a true example of a Christian living in faith, then what better of a stage than the NFL for the masses to see this example?  It isn’t about his team winning or losing.  It isn’t about the money he makes.  It is about a young man living in a way that society has seemed to push aside as “absurd,” and God is putting this “absurd” manner of living back into the hearts and minds of those who are watching.

You’re right Chase Bunney.  God does have more important things on his list.  Like doing everything He can to bring more people to Him.   We are all sinners.  God does not choose to reward those who are perfect (because no one is) and punish only the sinners (because we all are.)  God does not care who wins the football game.   He does care that Tim Tebow chooses to give him the glory every time because his gift of being a great football player is just that…a gift.  Jesus loves us all unconditionally and we are supposed to do the same.  Love Him unconditionally.  Not just when things are great.  He is to be glorified during good times and bad even though it can sometimes be difficult and we would prefer to blame Him and ask why.  This is the true test of faith.  Can you love him when everything is good and praise Him when things are bad while having faith that there is a reason for everything?  Tim Tebow should not be alive based on his neonatal/medical history.  His mother’s doctors advised an abortion.  Do you think God spared him because he was good and glorified God? Or do you think he was spared by the grace of God and he recognizes this and is thankful for it and gives thanks where it is deserved.  He and his family have many things to be thankful for and football is the least of them.  No, God does not care who wins the game. And yes, the other team, the homeless children, the people with destroyed homes were all sinners.  As were the winning team, the children with warm homes and beds, those who live in the homes who withstood a natural disaster, me, you, etc.  The fact of the matter is Tim Tebow loves Jesus and he wants people to know.  I’m not sure why so many people have a problem with that.

what most people do not realize is that Tim does not go out on some marketing program to show his faith to the world. It is what is in his heart and soul… it is what drives himl. His talent is above many. He is unselfish in what he does in giving, and he gives so much without fanfair. He would rather give than go into the spotlight to bath in his own glory of his popularity. One more thing, Tim does not pray to the Lord that “he” or his “team” win over others…he prays for guidance which helps him dig down deep within himself to not let his team down, if a win is the result of all he does then it is Gods will. Glen is right, we do really need more of the Tim Tebows in the world… to show that being a man of faith is not a bad thing. We need the Tim Tebows to show us all that faith and the strong will to do the right thing has it’s own rewards to all of us. Why must people take this man apart because of his faith? Is it envy, jealousy or the resentment of religion. Tim has renewed my will to push on regardless of the nay sayers.

God cares about all of his children, he cares about the sparrows.  We don’t always understand why things happen the way they do.  But yes, God can care and does care, he cares about a young man named Tim Tebow who shares his faith and gives his Lord credit for everything he does.  Its not about the Broncos or about the game, its about this young mans Faith in his God and he gives the credit to Him.  You never hear him say I did this or  I did that, He gives credit to his fellow team mates  and to his God.  He is who he is because of his Faith in his God and his God Cares About Tim Tebow.

I totally get what you’re saying, and I am with you-to a degree. I think the bigger point perhaps is that when people have real, true faith in a higher power, they have more faith in themselves. It makes them stronger, more dedicated people. Now that’s not saying that’s ALWAYS the case, like you said, if someon’e home is destroyed, were they sinners? I don’t think that God works or cares in those ways. I am with you. But what I’m saying is that the individual themself believes more in themselves because of their faith. That is what I see is the difference.

The reason why the Broncos are winning is this.  Tebow inspires his team.  Then also the team capitalizes on the mistakes of the other team.  Even if the mistake is as small as in this case.  Making a rookie mistake.  That is it.

Glenn just twisted this into about religion.  Sure Tebow maybe very respectful to his faith and himself.  But when you look at it realistically.  Tim Tebow as a religious figure is all thanks to the media and those who wanted to make fun of him for it.    As for those who say Tebow won’t be an NFL QB…. Stats don’t mean a thing.  As long as in the end of the game your team has the lead.

I’m not bashing or condemning anyone.  I just can’t see how Tim Tebow’s victory has anything to do with teaching anyone a lesson.  Nobody has said anything about the starving children I mentioned earlier, what about them?  Are you saying god lets them die to teach us spoiled Americans a lesson?  If so, what is that lesson?  Many of you are also saying that god cares more about people believing in him than saving starving children.  If a starving child finds god, he will still starve to death.  There is no point in arguing, once someone is as brainwashed as you people are there is no chance that you will ever see the other side and look at things objectively.  I never said I dont believe in god or a higher power, I just dont believe he is teaching any kind of lesson here, nor do I believe in giving money to the church to pay for the Vatican’s filet mignon dinners.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Paul-McDonald/100000804418467 Paul McDonald

It is real simple Tim Tebow can reach more people for Christ through football than any human on this earth can, (he has the humble heart to do it). God is giving him the platform by supernatural intervention and success for the Cross to be lifted up in the middle of the most important thing to most Americans entertainment! It has nothing to do with a team or God being a Bronco fan everything to do with the death of His Son for all of humanity and the promoting of the Gospel to save humanity from hell….

I’ve been waiting for someone to discuss this very issue…God is telling us something in the Tim Tebow/Bronco success story.  The more wins that Tim gets, the more the talk grows.  I believe that He’s saying that it’s time for society to stop idolizing athletes and celebrities who live selfish, immoral lives and begin to follow a true hero…a humble quarterback who uses his fame for good.  Not trying to sound preachy, but to me, God has given us a good role model and the “miracle comebacks” are a means to get the word out all over the world.

No, that’s not what they are saying – -even Tim Tebow doesn’t believe God determines the outcome of the game, because there are many believers in all teams but it is his positive attitude BECAUSE of his faith, that he BELIEVES they can do it together. If you would have listened to Bob Costas on Sunday Football do his little segment, you would know that is not what Tim is saying, but because of his FAITH, He believes the impossible CAN BE possible.

The only place that tim will be foreever is in heaven. I’m waiting 4 the media to try to set him up like he is God and then take a swipe at him. That’s what it’s all about. They don’t want God to get any glory. They want it all themselves and that is just fine and acceptable to them (sound like a play from Lucifer’s playbook). Just like the world rejected Jesus, most will reject the message that Tim is unabashedly sharing. But you just wait, the angels are recording all these things that Tim and other believers are doing so that the world of unbelievers, cynics and false teachers will have no excuse for not fully placing their trust for salvation in the finished work of Christ as has Tim and so many other non athletes and laypersons have done. Keep praying for him and other believers. Jesus is coming back. Let’s take as many of our friends and enemies as we can!

  • Mike Kelly

Yes Chase, God cares JUST as much about the rich football player as he does the homeless child.  No, God does not care who wins the game or loses.  He does care who helps others and who hurts others.  I think what these guys are trying to say is, God loves everyone and is invested in ALL of his children and their dreams and aspirations.  Now, if your dreams are to enslave others and spend your money on drugs and killing…God isn’t going to support that.  He is however, going to allow it because if he meddled with our choices then this life wouldn’t be fair.  God would cease to be God the moment he steps in and takes over for us.  He can bless us and push us in righteous directions, but in the end, WE are the ones who choose whether or not our lives will be blessed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jglenn.usmc Jeremy Glenn

Do you think what happens to us defines our existence? Or is it who we are: people, created beings that long for love and relationship in this life? And do you know that the empty hole in life is only going to be filled with the knowledge and love of your Savior God who cares enough to let His Son die for you? That is the point. That’s the only message God cares about. Whether it comes through football games or pure human tragedy, it is all with the same purpose in mind: a personal relationship with you. He wants your heart, and He wants to fix it and make it whole here on earth so that you can spread the same message to others who are hurting and suffering through life. Tebow happens to be a football player who has money and fame and the envy of many people right now. But he chooses to use that platform for this greater cause, for the sake of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Honoring and living for God wherever you are in life is the highest calling. Tebow is doing just that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sandi.rowansavelson Sandi Rowan Savelson

There are more important things in life besides football, but alot of people watch it.  God can use anything He wants to bring His message to the world and if it’s Tebow, there’s nothing you can do to stop it.  Isaiah 55:11 says “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”  God is working on the big picture.  Don’t get me wrong, I love football, but there is MUCH more to life than this.  Praying you find this peace.

As a football matter, the Broncos are winning games with Tebow at QB because Tebow never quits and in fact “flames on” when the chips are down. It’s a quality he shares with Elway, which probably has a lot to do with why Elway likes him.

You can then ask the question: where does that spirit come from? Elway would have his own answer; I have no idea what if anything his faith is. But it is obvious that for Tebow it comes from his relationship with God. Am I saying God wants the Broncos to win the Super Bowl? I hope not, because I’m a Packer Backer (since 1961, if anyone was wondering). I am saying that God lives in and through Tebow and that inspires the man and in turn, Tebow gives credit to God, not I think for the victory but for the strength Tebow draws from God, just as Solomon drew his wisdom from God and remembered that always.

I don’t think Tebow has the skills to carry him a long way, but he has an indomitable spirit and for now it is glorious to watch.

No, Chase, God does not care about the outcome of a football game. He does care about the strength and courage of someone who is carrying His message. And you really need to do a little work studying the relationship between God and the things that happen on this earth.

I know this…Tim Tebow has done nothing to force himself on other people.  Its quite the opposite. Other people are forcing themselves on Tim Tebow.  The man’s living out his own personal faith, and that’s about it.

I’m amused why it bothers people so much, but I completely understand it.  Jesus IS controversial, and that’s the way He intended it, not Tebow.  Keep debating Tebow, my friends, and you’ll be one of many talking about Jesus in the end. Love it!

The true shame of it all is that you are angry for absolutely no reason.  If not for religion, our system of values, and many of our laws would not exist.  Thou shall not murder.  If that came from a “nut job” then why do we still abide by that law?  Why then are there morals to which many of us live our lives because it is “the right thing to do?”  If you are trying to anger myself, or the other believers responding, then I fear you are barking up the wrong tree.  We have no reason to be angry, and I can promise you that somebody has already read your post and has prayed for you to find guidance.  A person whom you’ve never met, and most likely will never meet has just said a prayer for you, and you’re mad at them.  Who’s the one needing the crutch?

I agree that God does not take sides. I can tell you of an interesting thing about when I was in high school. Our basketball coach back in the 1960′s used to have the five guys lay on the floor in a circle and pray together, before the start of every game. We had some of the best basketball teams in the state. It was taken away in about 1971, and we have not been any good since. I think God likes unity and love, and who tries and never gives up. He likes everyone to try there best, even if you are a millionare or poor. And as far as us poor, we try, you would be surprised how I have tried, and prayed. Like glenn said, there are good things happen, and bad things happen, but I have learned.

God often raises individuals up for whatever His reason(s) may be.  Scripture is full of examples.  If God would like His word lifted up in a decaying society such as ours there may be no better way than to do it through a medium which has a vast audience such as the NFL.  What if people (esp. kids) started admiring a God loving athlete who is unabashed about his faith, determined to help others and always sure to give God and his teammates the credit for success and personally accept the blame for failure?  How could that be a bad thing?  This “aw shucks, God don’t care about football” is as insulting as it is naive.  That is not even the point.  Does God care about lifting individuals up for the purpose of magnifying and glorifying His kingdom?  Without question.

What is it with the irrational, raging bigotry of some people where Tebow is concerned?  Have cynicism and lowered cultural expectations completely taken over for certain people?  He would never have been considered “controversial” a generation ago but, because we have allowed the left to drag us into a confused moral and cultural gutter, suddenly a guy like Tim Tebow gets trashed by cynical smart alecks and sports commentators who probably feel convicted by his very presence. Or, I should say, by the One he is thanking each game.

Yes Chase they were sinners just like the ones who were living in the homes that were passed by, because we are all sinners, the difference is the realization that we need a savior, a Christian is not perfect nor do they cease to be a sinner, a Christian realizes that God is in control, that Christ is our savior and everything we do is to glorify God, no matter how small or how big, the fact of the matter is, God may not care about footbal, but he does care about Tim Tebow and he does care about you, Tebow is simply giving God praise for a gift he has been given and you have to admit he is not taking credit for any of the acheivement, that is what God cares about. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Chase and please keep in mind that there is a God and we all need Him desperately.

Which god? No really, which god? Oh, the true god? Which is? I’m pretty sure Zeus doesn’t care about football.

Newsflash: we’re living on the third planet of a completely unimportant solar system. The light hitting us right now partly traveled for 13 billion lightyears. That means it took the light from the Ultra Deep Field 13 billion years to reach us. 13 billion years ago there was no sun, no Earth. Not even dust. But we, on this irrelevant third planet, we, with our overclocked monkey brains… we have found the true god.

The Greek had a word for that: hubris. I call it arrogance. We know nothing. Reason and logic must prevail. Primitive superstitions shouldn’t have any room in the 21st century.

And, Chase, I don’t think God cares about football all that much either, but He does care about showing the world how He pours out His love and blessings on those who love Him and aren’t afraid to say so…  I feel so sorry for you that you have not allowed God to show His love and favor to you.  See, He won’t until you decide to by faith give Him the opportunity.

That’s a cop-out, my friend. Just look at other teams which strted the season 4-5 and 0, and now can’t win a game. When a team gets into a winning streak, it will NOT last too long, so do the best you can while it’s there. Tebow does NOT the team make, the rest of the players make the TEAM.  Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz….Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn……….By the way, hubris happens to be the english translation of the Greek word  hybris it is not the Greek word.  It is a word that can loosely be be applied to those who pretend to know more than they really do about subjects such as, oh I don’t know, foreign languages, astronomy, history, evolution….God.

Chase, in the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus commands us to feed the hungry, take care of orphans and widows, love our neighbor as ourselves. There are thousands of missionaries around the world trying to do just that, when we blame our creator for the shortcomings of His creation we are not looking at the real problem…that problem is our lack of obedience, God could ask us the question “why are you allowing my people to starve, why are you allowing children to die everyday without ever hearing about me?” It is our job to feed them and witness to them. Chase please don’t be angry at God or doubt His existence because of the state of this world, to be aChristian is to not be of the world, I pray that God is using Tim Tebow to reach your heart.

I believe Tim Tebow is a very good person.  He is a skilled athlete, a gritty competitor and driven winner.  He has only average quarterbacking skills, but overcomes any chinks in his armor with confidence and determination.
Sadly, leeches like gb will always bring this good young man down.  Mr. Tebow obviously has a strong belief in his faith, which should be praised but not overblown and abused by cult leaders like gb.  I wish he, and other publication whores would simply leave this man alone to walk his own path without false idols jumping on his accomplishments for a free ride.

  • Anonymous

Glenn, I have been watching Tim Tebow since he was in high school and then at the University of Florida. I had two sons at UF at the same time.  If you read Tim’s book “Through My Eyes” you will realize that Tim’s mission has always been to do God’s will. His father asked God to send him a preacher and that is why they named him Timothy, and his mother refused to abort Tim even when doctors told her she would probably die if she tried to carry to term.  So, long before football Tim Tebow had a mission on this Earth.  Tim will be first the to tell you that these “miraculous” wins have little or nothing to do with him or football, Tim is an instrument of the Lord and the multitudes he speaks to happen to be hundreds of thousands of football fans. This is his mission and nobody could possibly do it better.  So no, God doesn’t care about football, but if through Tim and his football “miracles” a few lost souls find their way to Christ, then the world is a better place.

God doesn’t care about football. Football is a venue to reach the people.  Tim is blessed by God and his mission is to spread the word.  If the Broncos win a game and even one person believes it is because God exists, then that is one more light in the world. Some preachers have big churches, Tim has football stadiums full of people!

This young man is awesome. At a time when this country is falling apart he is just what we need. I just finished reading his book and was so inspired I bought one for my 16 year old grandson who loves football. Tim Tebow is a role model for the youth of today. God is looking down and smiling on this young man because Tim is getting people to talk about God. Perhaps this is God’s plan.

    Hmmm….48.5% completion….6.5 YPA…and sacked 23 times in less than 200 attempts.

Seems like with #’s like that you do in fact NEED a miracle or divine intervention to win a ball game.

Tim Tebow ain’t that good folks; the Broncos won 5 straight beating 2 dead last teams by squeaking by them and the rest were middle of the road teams that could have gone either way.  Maybe the jets were the only decent team in that streak but honestly, the jets still suck according to anyone who lives in NY and know what to expect from them.

So let’s get off the god stuff with Tebow….if you want to talk about religion, faith, or god with regards to QBs, then how about talking about how Drew Brees (good christian that he is) is leading the league in yards passing AGAIN and has his team already in the play offs.

Tebow=overrated hype.  Drew Brees=the real deal that NO ONE every gave a chance when he was at Purdue, or San Diego….

I so love your post and know it to be true.    I pray Tim’s ways resonate the message to those around him.   My husband is a Jets fan and one day, we were watching the beginning of a game during the Pledge of Allegiance.  All the guys on the other team had their hands on their hearts; some were mouthing the words.  No one on the Jets team did anything-the camera spanned the team-nothing.  I told my husband his team was going to loose.  They did-why?   Disrespect!  I also told him they would loose if they continued their behavior.  Of course they have won since then, but I am convinced providence plays a big role in our lives.

You mistakenly confuse christianity with religion. Religions are mans feeble attempts to reach up to God. Christianity is God reaching down to mankind to pull him out of the quagmire he has created for himself. Every human being that has ever lived has committed cosmic treason against God by rebelling against Him. Everyone is Guilty. Without Gods grace of providing a means of reconciliation  through Jesus, the way, the truth and the LIFE, all people would continue to be Guilty before God and subject to the Horror of his JUDGEMENT!  Nobody is pushing anything on you!  Your obvious hatred for God and his people is sad. Its too bad. There is alot of happiness and contentment when you know you can be forgiven by God and are no longer considered an enemy of His  but become part of his Family. The things which once seemed so important in this world tend to lose their allure in light of what is truely important . Love of God and Love of your fellow man! Not the shallow infantile, drinking yourself blind before halftime and feeling up you GF during time outs. God Bless, man!!

I got no issue with Tebow the man.  I got no issue with Tebow as the man of faith.

I have issue with the fact that he isn’t that good of a quarterback.  He beat some lousy teams by pure luck and because his entire team stepped up when it counted.

Funny how no one is talking about how much God loves the Denver D that got the ball back in the closing seconds of that game.

I am sick of the Tebow hype and how people are now calling him the instrument of God.

When he completes 60% of his passes and actually has a legit lead against a decent team, come talk to me.

As far as his faith is concerned.  More power to him.  Happy that he has faith in an otherwise faith-less world.

So let’s delineate between Tebow the QB and Tebow the man of faith, OK?  God loves everyone else on that field as much as him.

Funny double standard though:  Sandy Koufax was vilified for not playing in the WS on a Jewish holiday, yet Tebow shows up to work on Sundays and he is supposed to be a good christian role model…Oh well.  9 out of 10 commandments ain’t bad…it’s at least better than his completion percentage.

We could do anything we like!  There are those of us who don’t want to have anything to do with anyones version of a god.
Which of the thousands of gods do you want to impose on us.
Gods were invented by men to be crutches to get through their miserable lives.  Some of us just know a whole lot better than to believe all the religious crap!  As a beckling do you believe in his Mormon religion?  Are you too going to get your own planet and are you  just another god.  Check it out.

The only thing as annoying as religious people imposing their views on Atheists, is Atheists imposing their views on the religious.  If you don’t want to “have anything to do with anyone’s version of a god,” stop reading articles about it.  Your browser has a back button, just like everyone else’s.  You clearly have something against Mormon’s and Christians, as made obvious by your post, and you supposedly want nothing to do with them, yet here you are, on a Mormon’s web page reading a post about a Christian football player.  If there is a void in your life, there are better things to fill it with than tearing down other people’s beliefs.

  • jamie browim

We have no fear of your version of your god.  Be happy with him.  Just don’t be critical of those of us who don’t want to live with your ancient vengeful gods.  I have no fear of a god male or female.  What scares me is those of you who hate your fellow human because you think you have the answer.  You have no more answer than the local rattlesnake crawling around your legs.
We leave you to your heaven or your hell with your choice of god or goddess and have one hell of a good time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/david.j.wilkins David Wilkins

Why are you here?  In a previous post you said you want nothing to do with “any version of a God” and belittled Glenn Beck for his Mormon religion.  If that is true, why are you on his page reading about a Christian football player?  If you want nothing to do with it, use your browser’s back button and leave.  Clearly, you have some void in your life, but I’m sure you can find a more productive way to fill it than tearing down other peoples beliefs.

Isn’t it so very strange that the world (and especially the USA non-believers) feel it almost an obligation to bash Christians (and Jewish people too), but ALL other “religions” are protected groups??  All of you who choose not to believe will have to give an answer one day for what you did with the life He gave you…If us Christians are wrong about that, no big deal.  If you are wrong, oh my…. I’m sure the media would never want to actually follow Tim and his dad around to see what they really do in the giving God the glory, with the blessings He brings into their lives!  After all, they just might have to report that he is actually helping the poor.  God is not pleased over the divisiveness of America, but He will “give us over to our desires”

Only in a world where faith is difficult can
faith exist! God requires us to believe in Him by faith alone. If tornados
never hit homes with Christians in them and children three and under couldn’t
die, we would KNOW there was a God watching over things; no faith needed, you
can see it by those acts. Let me tell you though, He does care about all those
things and one day He’s coming from the clouds on a great white horse to end
all those horrible things (it won’t be a stable and a donkey next time). Tonight I will pray that you will be one of those people.

He takes it to a point that is disrespectful.  Praying every time you score a touchdown on national television is a mockery of prayer.  He shows a fundamental misunderstand or rejection of what prayer is supposed to be: a private intimate relationship between you and God.  Not a public spectacle.  Thanking God every time that you score is extremely disrespectful to prayer, it ranks right up there with a little league coach praying that the team gets a lot of hits.  Not to mention the fact that he has turned it into a spectacle that would make the Pharisees proud.  Christ would not have turned this into a spectacle the way that Tebow has.  He can set an example without turning it into a spectacle.  He thanked Jesus for Marion Barber making two bad plays for crying out loud!  I am a devout christian, I go to church three times a week and although Tebow is a better example than someone like Big Ben, I am appalled by the way that he has turned his relationship with God into a holier-than-thou spectacle.  Praying in public is fine, but doing it after you score a touchdown in an NFL game or when someone makes a bad play that benefits you all the while knowing you are being featured on national television is disgraceful.  He exemplifies all of the holier-than-thou qualities that Christ rebuked the Pharisees for.

Tim Tebow…..WE CELEBRATE YOU!!!!  YOU INSPIRE US!!!!  KEEP LIVING FOR JESUS!!!!  KEEP WALKING WITH THE KING AND, BEING A BLESSING!!!!   YOU ARE LIVING A LIFE OF “NO REGRETS!”

It was Jim Elliot (e.g., missionary martyr to South America) who said, “JUST MAKE SURE WHEN IT’S TIME TO DIE THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DIE.”  JIM’S MORE FAMOUS QUOTE WAS:  “HE IS NO FOOL WHO GIVES UP WHAT HE CAN NOT KEEP TO GAIN WHAT HE CAN NOT LOSE!!!”

“As for God, His WAY is perfect.”  “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”
“If God is for us, who can be against us?”  “With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!”
We cheer you on!!!   We applaud you!   Keep it up brother!!!   This was a great clip, Glenn!!!

My husband and I were both “bullied” in high school.  I desperately wanted to quit marching band.  I came home with tears streaming down my face.  I said, “I want to quit.”  My mother looked at me and quietly said, “You WILL NOT quit.  If you quit this thing, then you will want to quit another thing and, then another thing, etc.  And, my children WILL NOT be quitters.”  It taught me perseverence and much more!

It wasn’t until I got my Masters at Hopkins (e.g., straight A’s and oops, my one A-) that I thought, “Oh, I guess I’m not so dumb after all.”  Five out of six of my siblings and I went on to higher education.  My brother who actually studied opera at U of M in Ann Arbor, Michigan retired as a VP and partner in the firm of a private investment bank on Wall Street.  The firm is over one hundred and fifty years old.  He has his Masters from U of M as well.  And, he narrowly escaped 9/11 by one day.  He had a meeting scheduled at one of the towers on 9/12.

Why??  Here’s why I believe God spared his life.  He is gives with his “pocketbook!”  HE IS A MAN OF HONOR LIKE TIM TEBOW!!  When my father got bone cancer, my brother sent him a check EVERY month for his cancer meds.  My father was just a “dirt-poor” farmer.  NEVER forget where you come from.  When I got disabled from teaching children with disabilities, it was my brother who helped me in a very generous way.  I share these stories because they do coincide with Tim’s story.  We not only learned ethics on the farm, but we learned to trust the God who sets the stars in place!   Who depends on God more than the farmer?!

Keep being a “walking Bible” Tim. And, whether you lose a game or not, remember:  ”He who honors me, I will honor!”  God is showing you favor, Tim!   Keep it up!!!   And, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!!   Eileen, Tom & Oliver (our tortoise shell kitty)

Tebow is not ashamed of Jesus, and Jesus is rewarding him for that….

  • Mary Jo Rhoads

    Just a thought.

Let’s just say, for the sake of arguement, that we take faith out of the equation. Not that we should, but for the sake of making a point, maybe just play along…

It looks to me as though young Mr Tebow has no idea that he isnt supposed to win.  He hasnt heard the news…..doesnt he know?  Doesnt he understand he’s a bad passer, his mechanics are horrendous, he’s a failure for 3 of 4 quarters in every game he plays, he prays too much, he smiles too much, he’s too positive, & so it goes on and on and on.
He seems to be ignoring the “experts”, the analysts, the ex-players, the critics, the Monday morning quarterbacks….and he’s just playing like he expects to win.  In fact, the whole team seems to be following that lead. I’m recalling “The Promise” speech he gave a few years back, and Im wondering if that attitude hasnt followed him into the Bronco locker room.

Leadership is influence.  Not that I dont believe Tim Tebow is a blessed man, I do.  He gives reference to His Savior in everything he does, and that includes throwing a football.  Win or lose, football doesnt define Tim Tebow and it shows in the way he conducts himself on and off the field.

    It’s only a thought…….

Ya. Although I see Glenn’s overall point about involving God in our lives and society — and agree with him completely — my feeling from Tim Tebow is more in line with what you just said. If Tim really is sincere, then I’ll take it back, but it really does feel more like a public, holier-than-thou attitude… not the humble example of goodness exemplified by the Savior.

No matter what your individual level of belief is, it’s just that, it’s your personal belief.  Tebow is not asking you to convert or believe as he does. He is just saying “thanks” in his way. Let him alone. Remember, he isn’t the first and won’t be the last to demonstrate his faith.  As of right now, it’s still America and still a right.  I was never a Bronocs fan, but I would support Tebow, if for no other reason than to oppose the ones who oppose his momentary praise but will support those who deny Christmas symbols out of religiious freedom. Hmmmm….

Folks, strtlk is a Phony who claims to have served in the Military but he lies and has no credibility. He’s a hatemonger that goes by many names here.

You’re a Wikipedia sailor and a lying puke.

Here’s your “one on one” you little puke of a man.

    1. As mtclayboy you claimed that you served on a BOOMER. As strtlk you claimed not to know what a Boomer or a SSBN was “I don’t care” were your exact words. You also stated that you didn’t know where Bangor, Wa. was which is where Boomers (submarines) are fitted for duty.
Any real Submariner would know that. You didn’t!

    2. You then changed your story and claimed that you were on a BOOMER. You lied.

    3. As mtclayboy you claimed that you had damaged your ears while serving on a Submarine. As strtlk, you claimed that you damaged your ears while serving on a submarine.

    4. As mtclayboy you claimed that you joined the Navy and served for five years on a submarine but according to the timeline you gave that was proven to be a lie. You lied.

    5. As mtclayboy you said that you were a Fireman. As strtlk, you claimed you were a Fireman.

    6. As mtclayboy and as strtlk, you posted the same bigotry and hate against Glenn Beck almost word for word even using the same spelling and grammatical errors and focusing on the children. I’ve posted many of them here already.

Are you catching on everyone? He’s a liar plain and simple and nothing he claims can be believed.

Folks, I have the posts of these two Phonies and have posted just a couple to prove he is a liar and just makes up stories about his Military Service. His latest story is right out of Wikipedia. His classified VMS crap is also right out of Wikipedia and US NAVY.mil. I’m a member there.

He wants to take me on “one on one” when he’s already proven in his own words that he’s a liar and a fake.

Flag the idiot so he can come back as another loser like his other fake ID “Vinny” where hes a 10 year Army Sargent on another classified secret mission that he can’t talk about.

There you go loser, “one on one” only I backed up my posts with facts and your own words as proof. Why don’t you have the balls to admit to your lies, tuck your head up your A$$, take your bigotry and hate and Phony Soldier ID and leave us honest people alone?

Once again, Here you are caught in your lies. These are your words verbatim:

“1. No idea where Bangor, WA is. I thought Bangor was in Maine!
    2. What the heck is a “Boomer” or SSBN? You know what…I don’t care!
    3. Reminding people that glenn was a dead beat dad is a factual statement about him, not his innocent children. Nice try though slime ball.
    3. Either talk about something relevant and stop this, you are jason bourne crap!”

    Caught in your lies strtlk.

    Thanks for proving me correct.

Folks, strtlk/mtclayboy has been caught in his lies, He’s a lying sack of crap.

Tim Tebow is a remarkable young man – and as humble is the day is long. He loves the Lord and he will be blessed in all he does. He is making people think, and in these days and times, we all need to think about where we are in our own personal lives.

Tim has a foundation which is raising $$ to build a hospital in the Phillipines to assist the poor in getting medical care. When in college he skipped spring break to go on missions with his parents. Finally the Lord works in mysterious ways!

God cares about everything His children are involved in!  Tim openly recognizes that his ability to play football is a gift from his creator!

You don’t have to be a sinner to have bad things happen.  Do you know how a diamond is made?  Do you know that the more it is cut, the brighter it shines.  God shapes and molds us so that we can withstand the trials along with the good times.

It is up to you where you place your faith, we all have to decide that.  What will happen when you die?  The one thing God provides for all of us on this earth, is place to spend eternity.

It will be interesting to see if Tim is the same man this time next year after having all the money and vises placed in front of him. He will help many young people make better decisions about their lives if he is. Let’s keep him in our prayers.

Oh boy are you missing the point!!! this man has given his body and soul to god and always has, Tim Tebow is saying “do what you will” and what ever that is I will still praise you, even if I never win another football game……… Geezz you people, I even get it and I’m an agnostic!!!!! What ever works for TIM!!! and God does NOT care about who wins football games, God cares about Tim because he has been a true christian, since he was old enough to know and understand who and what God is, look at the way he came into this world, Drs. said you should abort this baby.

Tebow EXCEPTIONALISM comes from the His LEADERSHIP SKILLS he POSSESSES! It’s a GOD GIVEN GIFT! His Christian bk.ground! His POSSITIVE ATTITUDE b’comes a MAGNET 2 every team member! He believes in himself, & has the capability 2 “TRANSFUSE” it 2 ALL Of those AROUND HIM! Whatever Tebow skills R so “INDISPUTABLE”, that even the COMPETOTORS COACHES end up w/no other choice than feel “ADMIRATION” 4 him & watch him in ASTONISHMENT!!! There R so many SIMILARITIES in the SUCCESS OF Glenn Beck & Tebow! It takes one 2 know one!!! There is NO reason at all 2 be a SPORT-COMMENTATOR 2 know the that Teabow POSSESSES GREATNESS! the following quote I dedicated it 2 ONE’S GREATNESS! G. Beck a man my fam. & i ADMIRE!:

God is all powerful. Therefore, He does not have to choose between furthering the efforts of someone trying to spread the Word and helping the poor and hungry. He can do all that is needed. Who are you to say that any intervention by God into Tebow’s efforts to make him into a more noticeable player and person isn’t going to lead to greater awareness for those in need? If you did not know, Tebow has a foundation that donates money to the hungry and poor and has built an orphanage in the Philippines. Please do not imagine to know the limits of God’s power or His plan because you will fail in the attempt.

God has a sense of humor.

Since all the plagues in ancient Egypt were insults of the Egyptian deities, does it take much to believe the God is giving Tim Tebow success, just to make fun of those who mock Tebow’s faith?

I am not predicting a Super bowl win for the Broncos, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Let anyone think I am a sports fanatic, here is a 40 year old quote of mine “Karl Marx was wrong.  Sports is the opiate of the masses!”

  • fiesty1151

God doesn’t choose anyone over another. He loves you if you are poor and he loves you, if you are rich.  God doesn’t have class envy, as we do.  He meets you where you live. He honors a man with little, who uses it for the Lord’s glory and He honors the man with much, who uses it  for His glory. We ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. He realized our frailty.
Fortunately, this earth is not the real wealth. God shed his love and glory in eternity on all who love Him. Your reward, if very little, on this earth will be no less great than any man who has wealth on this earth.  Wealth is a personal issue.  I do not have class envy, because I have seen many men destroy themselves to acquire it. The reason that Tim Tebow bows and glorifies God is, that he gets it and I would presume if something would happen to Tim, he truly does glory God, he would honor the God who created him and move on to whatever is in store.  If you truly believe that God is in charge, you move on with whatever comes next and make the very best of it. A man’s character is not determined by what happens when he is doing well, but who he is, when he truly is down and out.  That’s when his character is challenged the most.

Who’s reason and logic?  No, really…

Out of all the knowledge that can be known, is your brain big enough to contain it?  And that’s not even considering the unknown which might be discovered eventually.  Could it be something could exist outside of your reason and logic?  Could it be an Infinite God could exist outside of your finite understanding?

You should look into Tim Tebow and his famiy’s work as missionaries the past few years!!  They have done so much for the homeless and especially the orphans in the Philippines! God does use people to further His purpose- whether they be millionaires or not, whether the situation is trivial or not…He does not discriminate and I’m sure that irks the hell out of you that the Almighty can be as omnipotent and yet can be just as trivial!!

  • Indirect User

I am totally supportive of people following their religion.  However, in regards to Tim Tebow praying its a tough thing to understand.  I agree with his right to pray.  I agree to him actually praying, but I believe that what are in his prayers is very important.  Its one thing to him to pray that God will help him to win, and another thing to pray that God will help him to perform his best. And then in reaction to his successes it is one thing for him to be grateful to God for having been successful in making  a play or in achieving his full potential on the field vs being grateful for having beaten the other team.  Many people don’t realize it but the way we word our prayers makes a huge difference in the way we receive blessings, and answers from God.

  • Anonymous

How about we think of it this way, God is trying to show this huge audience that football attracts that we all need to be not leaving God at church.  God needs to be a part of our every moment.  He is why we exist and Tim’s faith in Jesus the only son of God allows God to use him to get the good news out.  When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior we live for Gods good purposes and his Glory, not our own. Praise him for his mercy on men.  That is the Christian/Christmas message that we should be living everyday and everywhere, no matter who looks at you like you have two heads.  As people mock us we pray for them to come to know Jesus as their Savior.

Browim you are just like the dumb asses that wear pig noses and paint their stupid faces.  Football doesn’t matter – But God does, and Tim Tebow has God in his corner, as he he is a great ambassador for God.

wow, Jamie, I feel sorry for you. what a horrible life you must have had. Do you have faith in anything? You don’t go to church to find religion. It’s just a place full of sinners who found God. A place to hang out and learn more about him. So sad for you.  Apparently you have no one in your life right now that you love so much that you would do anything to help or save them in time of need. Who would you call on if Jamie Browin wasn’t all powerful enough to help someone he loved?  Just wondering
a desperate situation, maybe pinned in a car in a ditch and no one sees you, days go by. You don’t call out for anyone? Your all so self sufficient?  Really, would you give up or maybe, think, hey, I need someone bigger than me. You won’t answer this because your time hasn’t come yet, it will though. Maybe you will remember this conversation. By the way, if all you can do is curse to answer me, please don’t respond. That’s usually what happens, because no one wants to really go there and answer the question, they would just rather curse and feel that they have handled it. It won’t change my thougths on this, I do call on God all the time. It takes a big man like Tim to stand up for his beliefs in front of millions of people, knowing ignorant people like you and chase are going to spill your hatred.

Could I suggest that god could give a rat crap less about scoring touchdowns? I’ve always found it hilarious when someone drops to their knee in the endzone, to thank god for making them better than the person they just beat. That is their only prayer throughout the week, probably because it’s the only one that can be public. I don’t get that from Tebow though. I believe he is sincere.

The thing is, God works through people. When people take the initiative to do God’s work, and trust in Him to help them, then He’ll bless them for it. Like Glenn said, if you put yourself on God’s side, then He’ll use you. God may not care about who wins a football game, but if a man is proclaiming his faith in Christ and using his position as a platform to speak the word of God, then I think God will bless Him for it and use his talents and abilities to glorify Him.

I couldn’t have said it any better CG!  Your reply to Chase was right on!  To Chase Bunney:  Chase, CG has it right; God has much more important things to do and care about than football. He doesn’t care who wins football games – He does care about the homeless children on the street – He loves them very much and is using many different people and organizations to bring relief to these children, who are all over the world, I might add.  I also might add that Tebow donates tons of his money to charities that help feed homeless hungry children all over the world.  Check it out for yourself.
Like CG said; God is honoring Tim Tebow for honoring Him, and it is bringing the discussions and talk about God.  Is He real?  Is there really a God?  Does He care about me?  The answer is yes to all of these questions!!!  You would do well to ask God to help you to know Him: He loves you and He loves Tim Tebow and He especially loves the little homeless children.

I do not wish to disparage any of the comments which have been made, there is much good in them. I attempt only to explain why many good folks are uncomfortable with Tim’s (and other’s) open displays. In the Sermon on the Mount, just before reciting the Lord’s Prayer, Christ stated the following (note especially verses 5-6):

    Matthew, Chapter 6:
“1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 ¶And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

    Need I say more?

here’s the thing, everyone has made the performance of the Broncos all about Tebow, that is except for Tebow, himself….he said “It’s not Tebow Time, It’s Broncos Time”….if you listen to him in the post game presser, he praises his teammates and says that they make him look better than he really is….what he has brought to that team is that he has somehow gotten them to believe in themselves and in each other….and when you believe in the Lord as well, the impossible becomes possible….for so long now professional sports has been lacking that “teamwork” mentality and this is a representation of a mentality that has been missing in many areas of our lives….God is working through Tebow to send us a message and at a time when people are so divided and so many aspects of our lives have become polarizing, every one of us could learn a thing or 2 from this example that is right in front of our faces and it can be applied in so many different ways because it’s like a warning to us that we need to change our ways because if we don’t we will lose, it is not until we learn to believe- in God, in ourselves and the talents that we have each been given, and in each other- that we will be able to conquer whatever it is we are facing….not to mention that the Christmas season is the perfect time to reflect on this and think about how to apply this lesson in our own lives as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ

The Tebow story isn’t about him, or even nessessarly about Jesus Himself; it is about how people respond to a man who gives thanks to God in everything. I find it refreshing, but for some it crawls under their skin. Wasn’t it Jesus Himself who said that the world will hate you for my sake? This is prophesy playing itself out on a football field, of all places!

I believe that Heavenly Father does NOT give us trials that we cannot overcome. Pain, suffering, sorrow will be but for a SMALL moment but if you push through enduring till the end it will all be for your good. Once we conquer our trials we feel renewed, strengthened. Though you may suffer at times nothing last forever. We often question ourself and God, WHY? Why must this pain and sorrow be on me, Why must I suffer so.? Don’t dwell on the WHY? but rather on What is this trial asking of me? What am I to learn of this expericence? Later in life you may find yourself in a similar situation. I often find it easier to already know the proper steps to make in order to progress. You cannot solve a math equation without knowing the formula, you may try to guess and attempt many times all to fail but if you had the formula how easy it would be. What a sad place this world would be if we did not have an all knowing, God to watch over us. I have had too many experiences, too many precious moments..and endless nights praying to my Father in Heaven of the desires of my heart, my sorrow, my hopes and joys and concern for the things in my life. How I found True and complete peace while talking to God. Although football may not be so important to God, He knows the desires and hope of our hearts. If something matters to us then without a doubt I know it matters to God.

That’s all there is to it.. it’s not that he likes the Bronco’s more than any other teem its because Tim Tebow is a very Godly man and he’s not only using it for his own gain but he’s using his fame to raise money for missions and to be a light and a person of character when there is so little in sports…

You all are ridiculous. You all talk as if you are God.  You act like you know what God is thinking and what His plan is.  We cannot comprehend His love and holiness. He protects those who love Him.  He uses us in many different ways.  He’s given us spiritual gifts as it states in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God! But He sent His one and only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins!  I do not know His plan, but whatever it is it is perfect.

  • Brian Rieck

Jamie the bottom line is this Jesus loves you,There is only one way to heaven and it is through Jesus, the bible says in John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life,no man comes to the father but through me.Jesus Christ gave his life for you because He loves you that much I pray for God’s grace that He will reveal himself to you so that you would have true peace, you see there was a time that I would have said similar responses like you.But God met me and changed me and im thankful that someone reached out in love and told me the truth. Now I can do the same and pass on the love of Christ.Repent and believe,I guarantee you will not regret it.God bless you.

Christianity has been mocked and denigrated for so many decades that it appears to be a shock that God loves us and reaches out when we ask for guidance and blesses us when we ask. This isn’t about winning a football game, it is about loving the Word and trying to be our best even though we sin and repent constantly. Jesus paid the price for us so God could commute our life sentence. Surrender is the big “S” word that scares so many people. Try it sometime. You will be amazed.

Too bad you live such a life so afraid of the world that you won’t take part in some of its better offerings.
I have a great life and always have. Made it on my own in my own way. There is nothing good about religion which is a man invented social activity and NO ONE has ever seen nor proven there is a god.
Don’t give me the crap about the bible says so. The bible is just a collection of dusty old do nots! These writings were done by a bunch of old semites. You tell those of who refuse to believe in a god that we have to believe. Keep that crap to yourself.

So just get over yourselves and live great lives, have fun and don’t look over your shoulders for imaginary gods who will send you to perdition.

I knew what Glenn Beck is several years ago. He is an American that noticed the direction this country was going in. He left the DJ business because he saw the anti-war/anti-soldier idiots starting up and didn’t want the same thing that happened to us Vietnam vets to happen again. I presented him with my Vietnam Service Medal in appreciation for his “Support the Troops Rallys” and his efforts to educate us. He knows what the word “service” means. That’s why I made him an honorary Vietnam vet, according to me. I don’t understand why a person who acknowledges his faith and gives thanks to his maker is so distressing to some people. Clearly these folks do not believe in freedom of religion. OK to do a chicken dance in the end zone but no expressions of faith please. Young people cannot be exposed to a positive influence, right?

  • Anonymous

Were we not also admonished not to put our light under a bushel(basket)? Tebow is letting the light shine. He is setting the example for us. He is not shy about his faith in spite of all the critics and naysayers.

  • Anonymous

I think you are basically right but I would add that we don’t know the mind of God. Is it impossible that a touchdown might result in a positive that God sees as desirable and worth helping to bring to fruition? We’ve all heard the expression that God works in mysterious ways.

  • Anonymous

I appreciate what Tebow does to set an example for us. Since Christianity has always been under attack we must have the courage to stand up for our beliefs. In a world where experessions of faith are derided by so many it is a challenge not to be reluctant to publically voice our beliefs when appropriate. He is telling us that we can be a factor in the building up of God’s Kingdom here on earth if we are unafraid.

As  christian s, we notice other christian players also.  When they raise a hand or bow or kneel we have noticed the camera quickly turns from them and on-the replay they avoid that part of the play, yet with Tebow they ridicule.. I’m with Glenn. Tim Tebow is winning this argument, by just being Tim Tebow. It drives these anti-Tebow freaks because Tim is following the christian precepts of a soft answer turneth away wrath. Tebow doesn’t get hot and bothered by these mental midjets, all he does is smile and say “YOU KNOW YOU MAY BR RIGHT”, then he continues his merry way of winning. I love it.

If we had the capacity to know everything and all the ‘why’s, we wouldn’t need God.  He didn’t tell us everything, just everything we need to know.  It is in THE Bible.  In English it is referred to as KJV.  When you figure that out, then work on the rest of your little straw men.  www.preciousseed.com

Jamie,God works in strange ways.  He has you all riled up, doesn’t He?  Whether you find Him when a small child dies or on the football field, He is there.  And He has a reason for everything He does.  I am not a football fan, but I admire Teabow for not being ashamed of God and asking for His help and guidance in whatever it is that he is about to do.  You, sir, are in my prayers and I pray that you do not meet with a drunk driver on your way home from a football game before it is too late for you to understand where this young man is coming from.

He does have childen’s hospital organizations in the US, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Denver, Washington DC – for kids with serious illnesses.  Jamie – why did you even read this article or get to GB’s web site? Is it only to bash others?  I don’t go to atheist web sites to bash them.

If the Broncos & Tim Tebow were undefeated and won games with high scores, then everyone would give the credit to Tim or the Broncos. However, if the team does not play very well and scores very little and comes from behind to win each time, the credit (or Glory) is given to God, because it’s obvious it was devine intervention-a miracle!  God wants us to Glorify him just as Tebow does every day. The only way that God wakes people up is through these miracles!

It has nothing to do with the football game.

If you are really curious, as you seem to be, start by picking up a Bible.   Don’t take anyone elses word, but start there.    I am not a football player, yet do as Tim Tibow does.    Let me just say, My God has never not given me anything I asked for.   First you need to start a relationship with Him, to know what many others know about our Savior.    It really won’t cost a thing, just a little time on your part-everyday.

How is it 2000+ years, we are still talking about Jesus?   Don’t you ever wonder?
BTW-it isn’t about football or anything lke it;  it’s about the person and their relationship with God-it dosen’t cost a thing, but is the most valuable.

I’m amazed at the hate directed toward Tim Tebow.Tim Tebow never tells people how they should live.He says what he believes and he lives those beliefs. Those who direct such hatred towards him do so because of their sorry a$$ way of living.I would hope that children would grow up in our society to be more like Tim Tebow than Michael Vick or the wife beating players in the NFL(natainal felony league)Those who criticize Tebow need to look in the mirror and pray they could become half the individual Tim Tebow has become.

My faith is what grounds me;  without it, I am another sinner, waiting for the next sinful hatefilled, hurtful occasion to sin.  We are all flawed, even Tim…..his relationship with God, like mine, is a personal one; one which is undeserving, but blessed to have.

  • Anonymous

The Lord uses us all, and Tim Tebow is no exception.  Tebow stands strong in his faith, and I admire him for that. Perhaps, God is blessing Tim for standing strong.  I’m a Colorado native and, although my home state has become too liberal for my comfort zone, I still like my Broncos.  Part of what used to make America great was that each person was allowed to practice their faith without others being so disrespectful of the person or that faith.  Seems like American needs to remember how to agree to disagree, respectfully, again.

I love Tim’s attitude and the glory he gives to God.  He seems to care for others and  serves them even though he could use his position to build himself up instead.  If you want to help your family or others try food storage products for gifts at deniset.mygofoods.com

Talk about the 99% and 1%! 99% percent of us are too weak and selfish to give up our comfort and privacy and live our faith with all our hearts. Tim and Glenn are in the 1% who are all in, who put all their chips on the table, and put up with the haters. Yes, they have reaped earthly rewards but again, credit those rewards to His Glory and use much of those rewards to help others. They’re just flawed humans, they’ll mess up and disappoint occasionally, but I bet they won’t let their shortcomings stop them. They inspire me to be worthy of this gift of a life in His image!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Ministerofblog Clarence F Sargent

I for one am SICK and Tired of hearing from hypocritical football players and coaches  about being sick of hearing about Jesus, maybe…..and I know this is a big stretch, maybe they should look in the mirror and see their CUSSING, TANTRUM THROWING selves on the side lines and compare their BAD BEHAVIOR over a simple GAME and then look at a MAN who takes it like a man instead of KICKING WITH CLEATS a fellow player?

Maybe that should be their stand instead of the self justifying behavior I’ve seen lately, they can’t stand top see success if it comes God’s way but they laud the success of drug induced, anger based reactions with excuses instead!

And this whole thing with Tebow’s faith meaning God is on the side of the Bronco’s, ONLY IDIOTS cannot see the truth here…..Its about HIS FAITH, not who God favors in a game, God is on the side of FAITH IN HIM not the Team playing, he’s on the side of EVERY PLAYER in the NFL who uses FAITH to WIN and not just the outcome either, he works to make us better through our adversities as well as our triumphs.

The outcome of a game is not due to God’s interventions but due to the players abilities pro and con, if they love God then those abilities are enhanced by using their faith which makes up for their inabilities as can be seen with Tebow!

God doesn’t get involved in sports as we do, but he works through those who call on him, win or lose!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Ministerofblog Clarence F Sargent

Do you have a problem with reality? I mean really!  Glenn is joking a-lot about that very thing and you miss it…wow! Religion isn’t where FAITH should lay that will always fall short, it should ONLY BE IN JESUS ALONE.

Tebow does that with class, WIN OR LOSE as it should be,people seem to forget how long he was on the losing side of the ball before being picked; he is the same man off the field as on, something other players should emulate and he does not take credit for the game but gives that credit to others and blames HIMSELF for his own shortcomings as a CERTAIN PRESIDENT SHOULD BE DOING! Its the media that made this stink not Tebow and ONLY because of his stand against Abortion which I share with all my heart!

Being humble is the name of the game not the money, but if any player deserves it its Tebow who built a Hospital in the PhPhilippinesnd gives a lot to ororphanshere so your point is mute. God is not interested in the game ONLY how we carry ourselves in it as with life!

Good job guys–an ole saying I always remember when people are down on me for my beliefs===They can do anything they want with your reputation, but your character is between God and you.  Merry Christmas all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kledwards3 Kevin Edwards

A light is something which is supposed to be contiuous, not every so often when we want to show off…consider the full verse, again from the Sermon on the Mount:

    Matthew 5:15-16:
“15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

It is the good things one does that provide the continual shining light. As Jesus said just a few verses later, “They have their reward,” meaning that the ATTENTION (and praise) garnered from one’s public prayers or alms-giving is the reward, and God need not give any other.

Letting your light shine does not mean praying publicly for others to see how great and righteous you are. We are taught to “pray always”, or in other words, to carry a prayer of praise and thanksgiving and supplication in our HEART at all times, not on our sleeve.

I do not follow Football at all; however, anytime Tim Tebow is on the news I stop and listen.
I’m sorry at times for the small voice inside that asks me “Wonder if he is not for real” -
I continue to embrace the other small voice who encourages me to celebrate that a young
person like this is UNAFRAID to show his faith.

On the contrary J B, religion has brought a lot of good, to the world! You do not see it, because you are blinded by your  chosen master, he is the one that angers you, when you see Tim give thanks to the one True God! Your master is satan, and he makes wise men his fools! You perceive yourself as smart man, because you think you do not depend on anyone! But in fact you do depend on the one, that causes all strife, and all evil! He shows himself as well educated, and well mannered, as you probably do! But the one that you follow, keeps you angry, and full of spite, and hatred for those that he hates. Because he knows what God has told them, and that God will keep his word, and the one you follow will not, because he cares nothing about you, he uses people like you! He has blinded you to your true self, and the True God, that puts out his hand, and says come to me! But you reject him, and all who walk with him. That is why you are so enraged, by T Bs show of faith!
J B do we have freedom of religion here in this country, as well as freedom of expression? Or do you deny those rights, because they originated from Judao Christian principles, that the founders used, because they understood that some rights are natural, and given to men by God! I see you that lay claim to being a lawyer, then you ought to understand that. But you seem to want everyone to believe as you do, another sign that you are in the grips of satan.
J B if you could only swallow that super sized ego, that you surround yourself in, then you would see that God is real, and he LOVES YOU! He hears the cry of your soul, and he knows that you want his Love, and salvation!
It takes a real man to be able to do that. That is why you see T B doing what he does, because he knows that when he gives thanks to the Lord God in front of millions of people like you, and it angers you, then by doing that he makes you have to look at yourself! As you are doing by posting your anger here on this site, trying to belittle him and all Christians.
God its calling out to you, an he wants you to be with him, he sees that you to want just that!  Whether you admit it, or not it is why you are here! That is why you have come here, and tried to disparage T B, and Christianity, you thought it would anger us, and you would get your anger fix by making the ones that your master despises, angry! But it didn’t work, most here are very solid in their Faith, and have been confronted by the best that satan has thrown at us!
Try to be more tolerant, and inclusive, as most Liberals profess to be! But vary rarely show when Jews or Christians are involved! Are they deemed second class because they do not meet your lofty ideals of what a person should think and say! Are they not citizens under the law and by being that given the same rights, J B do not use the evil in your heart to judge people of Faith because they are not like you because they do not judge you they all pray for you and wish you well! Can we not all live and let live!

If you understood the scriptures……read Genesis.  The reason there is “suffering” is because of the fall of man.  It was “man” who made that choice!  God is just showing us the consequences of OUR sin.

Glenn,  I am a 66 year old grandmother who does love sports and loves the Lord.  What Tebow has done for me is to make me rethink my relationship with God.  I am more vocal in my faith and not afraid to receive any backlash.  Wow what a concept.  Why shouldn’t I be proud of who I am?  A believer – thank you Lord for giving us another voice – Tim Tebow.

  • James C. Jarrett

You need to do some investigating on your own.  Tebow has been implemental in setting up foundation to help all of the above.  Perhaps God allowed the bad things to happen so more people would have the opportunity to work good in His name.

I believe that God is pleased with Tebow, not because of football but because of how he praises him! Afterall, God is God and is involved in the smallest things of our lives if we ask him. He is God and is in control of everything!
Beware! God will not be mocked! He is slow to anger, do yourself a BIG favor…don’t anger him!

Yeah, I think Tebow is probably a good guy in person, but it looks like a spectacle.  I do think that God works in society but to say that he does in the NFL?  If that was the case I think Tony Dungy would have won 10 Super Bowls.  He had much more powerful devotion than I think Tebow could ever conceive of, and he didn’t brag about it every chance he got.  Make Dungy your shining example of faith in sports, not Tim Tebow.

God is in control of everything even the traffic lights. He takes care of the just and the unjust alike. Tim Tebow is a wonderful man who lives life openly to the glory of God. He helps those in need with his fame instead of hording it. I love his thankfulness…We need more like him in this world to come out and speak up!  Keep up the God work Tebow! Maybe it will catch on and our land will be healed…Bad things happen due to sin in the world and will until the end..we must hold on till then..Sometimes bad happens to draw us closer to him who created us…thankful we should be always no matter what our situation as in love for us and in his image we were created. Many think of life as 70/80 years when they should think in terms of eternity! May God have mercy on and bless all of you believers and unbelievers alike…..Peace be with you all!

Did you guys notice that after the game,  as is his want, Tim Led a prayer circle on the field in which he was joined by several Bear’s players.    This has happened in the preceding weeks as well    ie  opposition player’s joining in the prayer circle.     I have also noticed that opponents don’t seem to relish plowing Tim under on their blitzes.    Actually seeming to respect him.   He has some major accomplishments for his age.   And by the way,  he resembles George Washington.

  • Soulphoenix

I have no idea if it will continue like this or not … if God really does have a purpose for it, then I suppose it will.  But think about this: if another professional athlete started out a post-game interview with words praising Allah or some other non-Christian deity, the hypocritical liberal left wouldn’t bat an eye, and yet when Tim Tebow professes his faith they nearly choke to death in anger and apoplectic indignation.

    Huh.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YBV5SIXOXY6SVSX2ZC2YQMYR6M ZORRO

So let me get this right……”Religion isn’t important in this modern world” (to quote a comment posted here). Tebow is NOT glorifying religion. He is glorifying Jesus Christ. I suppose Christ isn’t important in this “modern world”. If anyone posting hate for Tebow and Christians had read any of the Gospels of Jesus Christ they would know where Christ stands on religion and the so-called religious. It doesn’t take long to read any of the Gospels. Maybe an hour. So if you really want to know what it means to be a Christian/Christ like, read one of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John before you hate on Christians. Not the cartoon cutout version of a Christian that one finds on American sitcoms and talkshows but the kind of human being were capable of being when we put God and others before ourselves. If you’ve never read the Bible in plain English read an NIV bible or better yet a version written in modern slang called the Message. Christs “message” is clear, and has nothing to do with religion.

Several men and women in every sport display religious verbage or motion and  in most of my growing up years the coach would pray that our team would win. What does God do when both teams pray for a win?  The same thing as if only one team prayed. Now if your teamed prayed for the safety of the other team,  I believe he will hear and respond.

This is for JB and all of you wonderful Christian people who are trying to dissuade JB. Don’t you see that JB has more faith than all of you! Anyone who can look at our solar system, the planetary alignments so that we are well protected from asteroid strikes and other space debris, who can see that we are at perfect distances from the sun and moon; that the tilt of the earths axis and speed of rotation are just perfect to support life;. who can look at the symbiotic relationships in evidence everywhere on this planet; who can look at the incredible complexity of even the smallest cells, let alone a human being composed of trillions of cells all arranged in incredible order and believe it all came about my some weird cosmic accident, you are not going to convince someone like that. His faith is actually unbelievably strong. So do as I do when you come upon someone like JB, tell him he had better hope that he is right and you are wrong. If he is right, you simply will cease to exist at your death. If he is wrong, there isn’t enough pity and tears to be shed for him. His price will be terrible. I guess if you are of his faith, you have a 50-50 chance. Man I don’t think I’d like those odds. So good luck, JB. And to you Christians, the bible tells you not to try to convince people like J.B. There are some who just will not hear. Walk away and leave them to their folly.

There are; unfortunately, a “majority” of bad examples and witnesses to what being a Christian means. Your perspective is simular to mine at one point in my life…It was hard to see past the drink and the GF’s.  The beauty of it all is that we have been given the choice to make our decisions, whether they are productive or destructive, and we are loved the same no matter where we are in life.  You will be given oppurtunities in your life to tap in to the truth of what it means to accept Jesus and not just some of the religious crap that is out there. Yea, it’s mostly crap you are basing your perspective on and I had the same perspective as you on “religion” with the crap information and lack of knowledge….I had to seek it though.
I assure you that there is nothing remotely fake about Timmy and his life just may be the example you can use to break through all the crap you base your perspective on….like his life is doing for many like ourselves.  Things like football games are actually much more enjoyable than they use to be for me!!  Its really not just about giving up your life, it’s about finding it.
Common Man, you should be more concerned about the world pushing Homosexuality on you…..not this.

GOD is not interested in football necessarily, but He is interested in your faith and trust in HIM.  “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. “He is able to do above and beyond what we think or ask of Him.”  Tim Tebow is a leader and his own abilities  have a long way to go, but look at what his inspiration has done to the whole team. Their stats are all rising.  They play with energy and enthusiasm. They are a blast to watch.  I am a 72 year old lady, but the Broncos have gotten me off my chair and made me jump up in the air!!    GOD wants to teach those watching who are believers to get off their lukewarm attitudes and start to get enthused about a living GOD who loves us;  and to the unbelievers He wants you to at least give him a try. He is a gentleman, if you don’t ask, He will not intrude on your life.   WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE?

  • Anonymous

The Lord does actually care about a millionaire football player as well as the poor.
He is interested in the person. He uses the faith of those who are not ashamed of him to bless others who respond favorably. Rich or poor makes no difference. God is interested in the heart.
God has more important things to do? Prayer at a football game, a rescue, a emergency surgery, a birthday party, it makes no difference. He is interested in souls no matter what is going on. “In everything [ good or bad ] gives thanks to the Lord”

  • GuerreroGreg

@snowleopard3200:disqus Glenn, with Tebow the answer is very simple — God is using the man and his faith as a means to have others ask “What is going on here, there is something special occuring…” my friend’s half-sister made $182641 so far just working on the computer for a few hours. Read more on this site… http://nxy.in/hfyfx

I admire Tim Tebow.  As a christian it is confusing to see so many comments on Glenn’s site up in arms to save Isreal when it i see no public outcry from american Jews themselves.  In the Jewish Week Online, Rabbi Joshua Hammerman said “If Tebow wins the super bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants.”   What??? – - and Mr Hammerman claims to be a champion of interfaith dialogue!  78% of american jews voted for obama and it is expected the vast majority of jews will vote for him again.  A jew, Jon Stewart seems to be at war with “Christmas and Tim Tebow.”  On one of Glenn’s blogs after Glenn returning to america from his Isreal campaign to help Isreal, so many jews were bashing Glenn for attempting to “convert” jews to christianity. They were stating he should have stayed home.   I am for the Jewish state but i see little concern from most american jews over defending their motherland and more concern for the rights of muslims over christainity.

There is a god. And just because something bad happens doesnt mean its a punishment. I had a friend who got a flat tire on the freeway. He got his spare out and it was flat. He is pissed, and late, mad. He get on his cell to call roadside assistance and doesnt have reception…now he is really mad. He is walking around trying to get service and when he finally does he is about 50 ft away from his car on the shoulder and as he is talking to the roadside assistance, a car loses control and slams into his car at 80 mph. If his spare tire wasnt flat he would have been changing the tire at the time of the collision…and likely dead right now. God does care.

Now you are thinking “yeah so now his car is totaled, that sucks” My friends car was relpaced, you can do that with cars, he does however have a much different perspective on life.

And, no he isnt a very “religous” guy.

I consider myself ass being strongly religious, with a firm, to me, testimony concerning Jesus and the gospel he proclaims.  I also live in Denver, and am quite fond of our Broncos.  Having said that, I think Tebow is simply showing that when it comes to crunch time, he is a capable quarterback.  I do not think this occurs because of God’s help, except for the faith the team members have going of the series.

What I do know, is that Tebow is providing an excellent role model for thousands of kids.  Compare that to dozens of other characters in pro sports, and you just might be able to see how God is working through Tebow’s relationship with these youths.  That is where the important work is being done, not during the game times.

It’s God, not god. Free will is a difficult thing to grasp, your reply denotes your unbelief. Every one is a sinner, even believers struggle with sin, the bible is clear about that “all have sinned”. Want to know why things are so messed up, in the world that you live? Sin. You are living in a fallen world.

You might want to know that Tebow, among many other “firsts,” is the first (maybe still the only?) home-schooled athlete to win the Heisman Trophy.  (Florida is one of a handful of states that allows home-schooled students to play team sports at the school in whose district they live, so he played high-school ball and then went to UF. )

GOD BLESS YOU, Jamie, you really need it. How would you know if all the fake religious clowns are at church, since you obviously are too busy getting toasted @ the tailgate party. By the way, how does your GF like being felt up in front of the rest of the fans? I’m sure being groped by a drunk in front of other people really makes her feel “special”. God still loves you even if you don’t believe.   ???? Perhaps Jesus sent Tim Tebow to show us all the way to honor him. He got your attention, didn’t he? All of us, God’s children, still love you, even if we disagree. Go in the peace of the Lord, he still loves you to.

    Does GOD like Football?

I believe he does, he made the Sabbath on Saturday so we can watch Football on Sunday.

    Does GOD take sides?

I also believe this is true he chose side with the Nation of Israel in the Old Testament when they listened to him.

    Does GOD create Miracles?

I believe he does when we pray to Him and ask for a Miracle IE: Tim Tebow

Have a Nice Day Glenn and bet Denver to beat the Packers … Vince

I don’t think it’s the hand of God effecting the game’s outcome. I think Tebow has such enormous faith in God, that he doesn’t get flustered or stressed out in high pressure situations, He puts it all “in God’s hands” and knows the outcome will be what it will be. I wish my faith was that strong. I’m the one lying in bed at night worrying about things I cannot control…

No one said God cares about Football. Pay attention. God loves his children. All of us. Tim Tebow appreciates that and say so. He has been blessed with a talent and a means to pass the word. Simple. We have freewill and Tebow cares to share God with anyone that will listen. Why don’t they talk about the Bears player selling 750,000 dollars worth of Cocain and Pot each week. I know it is easier to spit on a guy that will forgive you then someone that might hire someone to shoot ya. If ya don’t believe in God. Fine. But why persecute a trully good person. And not mention the dope dealer.

What ugly discusting comments below.  Its clear Tebow is a man of great faith and if he chooses to honor God he should not be put down or mocked for it.  While I do NOT believe this is why the Broncos keep winning God does use people in certain ways that not one of us has the answer to.  Do I personally think he cares which team wins while people like my mother die of cancer?  NOPE sure dont but I admit I could be wrong…  We will all face the truth someday.  I know that I am choosing to have faith and believe as the alternative I read about is nothing I want to risk.  ALSO I have many loved ones Id like to see again someday and belittling people and not honoring God is not the way to make that happen.  When your at a game or a concert do you raise Your hand and cheer and clapp and praise?  Then why cant Tim Tebow do it without being talked about.  He is praising the MAIN person, leave him alone. LOOK in a mirror and God bless you if ever you come into a situation where you need faith that it will be there for you.

Very good response, though I am sure God, I AM, in HIs eternity, does care who wins even a football game, though His reasons and purposes are inscrutable.
The critical among us are probably the most religious, in the sense of religion being “that set of rules by which I know I’m ok….and you’re not”.
Christians understand that everything that happens in this life is merely framework, around which we work our responses.
Such is the Kingdom of God.
I think our brother Mr. Tebow prefers that his witness lead less to superstition about himself and football and more to how relationship with God through Jesus can transform a life into glorious freedom, and blessing to others..

You could go to lunch, leave your wallet, cell phone, everything on your seat, and THEY WERE THERE WHEN YOU RETURNED!
Try that at a football game, scoffers.  I dare you.

Did Tim Tebow ever suggest that he prays to win?
    I doubt it.
He already knows that he can never lose at anything, because his Lord has already won everything for him.
God works everything together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.
    Including losing football games.
Mr. Tebow is probably the least religious person on the field, religion being “that set of rules by which I know I’m ok…and you’re not”.
