The explanation of how SOPA and PIPA works and how bad it really is wasn’t as good as it could be. Put it this way. Lets say Obama finds out his greatest opposition is people on face book or even just one user. He could for all intents and purposes upload a stolen video on Facebook and do it using software to hide his identity and location. Then just by reporting the site the attorney general can make an arbitrary decision(no court) and tell the ISP of the site to no longer provide access, tell the DNS system to remove them, tel search engines to not provide results with them in it. It doesn’t care if the 99% of the users are good and just one bad was on the site. It can be used to silence pretty much any opposition to any political party. There is no requirement for proof and no repercussions to the Attorney General or anything along that line that would deter abuse by the government itself. The down time and cost of trying to fight the issue and get a site restored could bankrupt the biggest of site even facebook. Its incredibly dangerous to free speech. No part of this legislation should be passed at all regardless what changes congress offers to make to it.

Hey people…as Glenn Beck knows…SOPA and PIPA were drafted to be very egregious against our rights for one distinct reason, so that they can then follow it up with a “much kinder and gentler” (sound familiar…IRS?) version that STILL strips away our rights.  Big surprise that OPEN (new legislation by Darrell Issa) was ready and waiting to go as soon as public denouncement of SOPA/PIPA was made by Obama and members of Congress.  Wake up people.  I work in marketing.  The goal of unethical marketing machines, such as our mainstream media (including Beck apparently) and political parties, is to hype you up with things like SOPA, among many other things that are false fronts…so that they then can slowly strip away your rights as a free person…while you’re left thinking that they did you a favor by not passing the egregious SOPA or PIPA.  Stop listening to for-profit “reporters” like Beck.  I used to watch him quite often and he is correct on the corruption in the Federal Reserve, the IRS, etc., but it stops there. 

Another tactic used in politics and the media, for the impressionable ones out there reading this who still haven’t picked up on it, is to insert candidates into races (Perry, Santorum, Huntsman, etc) and “objective” members of the media, to simply endorse another member of their establishment network after building up a following for themselves.  We are making guys like Beck, O’Reilly, etc extremely wealthy, while they do their back rooms deals with the establishment.  You should be ashamed Beck.  I’m embarrassed to admit that I used to watch your show.  BTW, I was looking to support Gingrich or Perry, but then a couple of months ago I decided to learn what exactly the Fed was and how it operates.  I strongly recommend that every American does so…the freedoms of your family depend on it.  After learning about it, you will shake your head in amazement at the level of corruption in DC and the media…and who really controls it.  It definitely made me do so…trust me…it’s eye opening.   Google:  The Creature from Jeckyll Island.  The Fed is the root of most evil in DC.  It all emanates from the private interests that have owned it for the last 100 years.  Please read and wake up people.

1. You said that your mother was a Crackhead and your Father abandoned you. You lived in a one room flat eating McDonald’s double cheeseburgers that gave you all kinds of medical problems, then the Military FORCED you to enlists. Just who and how did they do that?

2. According to you that was 2000. You said that you were in a special unit so you weren’t deployed to Iraq until 2009. Why, what was your MOS, what Unit were you in?

3. You said that you played Volleyball with the Iraqi children. When did Volleyball become a a favorite of the Iraqi children?

4. You said your PA (flak jacket) weighed 50 lbs when everyone knows that the PA worn by the Army in 2009 weighed only 23 lbs.

5. You said that you have 2 Bachelor degrees. Where did you go to school, what are they in and how did you get them while you were on active duty?

6. What was Dallas? I mean, what did it look like?

7. You said that you teach children as a substitute teacher. When did you teach children and what School did you go to to get your teaching credentials and when did you attend that school?

8. You also said that you spent 2 years on the street as a police officer. What Police Academy did you attend and where was it?

I agree entirely. Other things get pirated, yet they only care about this? It’s nothing but lies to get more money in their pockets. On deviant art, there’s an outrage against it. People are posting “Deviation Censored” deviations to provide awareness. And wikipedia and google didn’t really participate much in the 24 hour black out.Google only put a black block on its logo, and wikipedia only blocked the english version of their pages. However, if you remove the java script it came back up. Or, you could just translate the other versions of it.

Also, currently, some of the first sites to be blocked from the itnernet include youtube.com, deviantart.com, or any other site with ‘major’ copyright issues. And yet thsoe protected by the copyright laws already written are being accused and their rights stripped. A man who gave credit to some people for their site, just saying ‘hey check out ___’s site, it’s pretty cool’ is being subject to this. They want to put him into prison for five years for copyright law violetions, yet he GAVE CREDIT for the site. Even with our laws on copyright, or the new bill that’s going into place, people will still pirate things. And some people who didn’t violate the copyright laws are still going to be blamed and gotten rid of, maybe because they’re actually giving the site success when it isn’t under copyright violations.

YET AGAIN with another comment. Yeah I know I’m chat flooding a bit. Well, here’s another issue. Search engine providers make billions just because people use them and veiw their advertizements. However, if people stopped usign them because certain results did not pop up, or they were blacked out, they would lose their money. This wouldn’t help the economy-at all. Why can’t they see that? “HEY HOW ABOUT WE DIG A BIGGER MONEY PIT THAN WE’RE ALREADY IN HUH? ONLY GOING TO OWE MORE MONEY.”

PIPA/SOPA are the top of a very slippery slope.  When they first start blocking piracy sites, despite the merits of doing so, that then starts a dangerous precedent of the government determining what it is we can and cannot look at online.  One little law at a time,  they can slowly start to whittle down the freedom of speech online and our ability to see and post what we choose.  

Unfortunately for those of us that pay attention and realize the danger, 90% of people in america don’t care or don’t even realize that this is going on, and so the mob will go along with these small changes.  With the majority of people blindly going along with censorship, there is no real opposition to them deciding what is “worthy” of being seen, and it is just a matter of time before they decide that watching things like GBTV and reading certain blogs is “dangerous” and should be gotten rid of.  

God forbid that this goes further, because it is a very real scenario that the Government could start putting powers into law that say “in the event of a national crisis, we hold the power to censor and track the online activities of americans”, and then use that power to shut down the internet, just like during the revolutions in the middle east.  Now, this is a worst case scenario, but the danger is there.  When the people are blind, it only takes a few officials with radical ideas to restrict and then dictate what is right and what is wrong. 

Thankfully, people like Glenn and his audience aren’t blind, and they are very vocal, but it will take real dedication and real effort to ensure that nothing like this ever happens.

I support Rick Santorum for the same reason he, Pat and Stu do but in the last debate, the candidates were ask their position on SOPA and the only candidate that did not fully oppose it was Rick Santorum. rick Santorum was on the radio show this morning but was not asked about his answer regarding SOPA. Take a look at how a Fox handled this internet regulation PIPA and SOPA. I was thinking, why isn’t this all over Fox? Come to find out Fox’s parent company News Corp was a huge proponent of this legislation. To be fair, Fox did mention it a couple times but its was very brief. Fox certainly shows some of the issues more clearly, but make no mistake, Fox is involved in misinformation to a very high degree. Beck claims Fox didn’t ask him to leave… If anyone takes an objective look at what was being said by Glenn at the time it is fairly clear those at Fox wanted him gone. Beck really started to say things that were getting to close to what was really happening. The guy had the best ratings around… I mean come on. Be wary of Fox. Better than the rest, but still not that honest. Especially now.
