Van Jones’s son sets up (illegal?) lemonade stand; Beck lays out what progressives want his son to do with the money

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

A few nights ago Van Jones tweeted that his son had set up a lemonade stand and he was really excited because he wanted to save $5, spend $3 and give $3 to someone who really needs it. That’s neat and everything, but is Van Jones forgetting that in his progressive world his son better set aside at least $5 of that for TAXES. And was this an illegal stand? Did he pay the $100 for a food permit? Oh the horror! Glenn reacts in the clip above from radio today.

    The progressives solution is simple:

    You make money.
Send all of it to them.
They choose how much to give back to you, if any.
At the same time they demonize you for making money.

It’s like Obamas opinion of “You did not build your business…” in which he sees government as the solution to all problems; when in fact the government has been allowed to become the main problem.

c’mon really really? More important things to get mad about glenn

I’m no fan of the President, but even I know that this “You did not build your business…” is was a falsely created out of context soundbite, that keeps getting spun and changed.  With the Democrats it Romney Taxes, the Republican is this incorrect soundbite.  Neither of which do anything to help us the American people.  I want to know who is Romney government going to create more jobs, I want the soup to nuts on this, not the standard no regulations, no taxes stand.  I do think less regulations are the way to go but only after these banks and such have proved they can be trusted again with our future and not create the mess they we are currently in.  Which btw why are we talking about more about the banks and their rate fixing, instead of these lemonadestand and chicken nugget nonsense.

    Don’t like chik fila?

If that lemonade stand is successful, HE DIDN’T BUILD IT!!
    HE DIDN’t MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!!!
Where would Van Jones’ son be without government building the sidewalks that provided the customers!
I think 50% is too low of a tax rate for sidewalk businesses!

You did not listen to the entire speech, if you listened to any of it at all. The ‘ol Socialist Maxine Waters out in CA started this nonsensical argument; testing it to gauge its response. To hear our Dear Leader, the Communist-in-Chief spout out this garbage was baffling.
Contrary to your choice of belief, this wasn’t a joke or a soundbite. The White House would like to have you believe that it was (which is absolutely ridiculous, because at no point did NObama give the punch line). They are playing both sides. Typical Alinsky garbage. No, what you heard was the true beliefs of one Barrack Insane Obama, and the WHITE HOUSE is spinning it to blow it off as nothing. The whole premise of his poorly stated speech, was that the Government is responsible for everything- WHICH IS ALL OBAMA BELIEVES, DUDE!! In fact, he believes that HE is responsible for everything.
As far as the lemonade thing, when you have an overreaching Government, that wants to regulate EVERYTHING, BECAUSE (per them) THEY CREATE RIGHTS & EVERYTHING ELSE, then not complying in small steps is the right idea. You missed it. Tens of thousands of small deeds of civil disobedience, is the type of Chinese Water torture that the Government needs in order to submit to the WILL OF THE PEOPLE. We haven’t had that in some time. The whole idea is to start at home with changing our MORALS (which, coincidentally, is why we have problems with Executives of Banks- no MORALS). Small steps, done at home, over time, will REawaken our Country into reclaiming our GOD-given Heritage.
Chic-Fil-A? Nonsense? What is nonsense is anyone’s concern that they are closed on Sundays, and anyone who calls for a free and independent people to subscribe to their beliefs and diatribe.
You seem to have your facts all mixed up and wrong.
Leftists & Statists caused the problem. The overwhelming positive response (for what essentially is a 1st Amendment issue- Chic-Fil-A has a right to an opinion) is due to nonsense from those that want the Government to be in everything.

    nah the food is gross….

I like your user name…  I did listen to the speech and read the transcript multiple time, because I want to understand it myself free of media manipulation, and he was talking about bridges and roads.

Chic-fil-a can open any day of the week, and sell dog food sandwich for all I care.  You’re right, they absolutely have the right to their opinion.  I just don’t like it when they get political endorsement.

As for Morals, Greed and $’s corrupt morals.  These big corporations that helped get this country into this mess don’t have morals, they care only about $$$’s not people, I understand that its the nature of the beast, but when they mess things up for us hard working folks, and then need bail out and cry about restriction I have no sympathy, you like everyone else need to earn respect, then you hear thing about the rate fixing, scum bags, I have no respect for big business, but the upmost respect for the small business.

God given heritage? which God, i believe its any God I want to worship in this country.

You surely can’t be naive to believe that god or anything else is going to make business any different.  Thats the beast of capitalism, and i’ll take it over communism any day of the week, warts and all. That said.  If I have a choice that beast right now needs to be on a very leash until it can prove that its not going to bite the American people that put trust in them.My mantra, taught to me by my wise old grandma (RIP). question dogma, never be afraid to speak up and stand for what you believe is right.

Wow Admitted commie allowed his son to be a capitalist?  I wonder did he have all the required govenment permits involved in this endeavor?  Move on .org  must surely be worried. He must have robbed someone to make that profit.  LOL.

Stop! Be honest, you are a fan of the president. If you listen to the entire soundbite it is even worse. Now take in the who picture by reading Barack Obama’s book, read about Frank Marshall, listen to the Van Jones tapes and visit his websites that show he is is an outright communist. Find Obama’s ties to Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers and then look at the foundations Obama supports for “sharing the wealth,” and it does not just extend to the United States. When you add up everything you see that Obama mean’t everything he said, and even what he hasn’t said. What do I mean? Look at his actions on how he does not condemn the New Black Panther group, but condemns the Tea Party. How he hired Van Jones a devout communist into the green czar position and then had to accept his resignation. Do you really think what he said, and his actions of hiring radicals into the United States Government is all coincidental? Now, if you want to know how Romney is going to create jobs, go to his website and he has it spelled out in 52 items. If you were really interested in knowing it wasn’t hard, so that makes you a poser, or ignorant, and maybe both.

  • Anonymous

cmonreallyreally, is a poser. Anyone who had really done his homework would not have come up with the talking points of the left. Anyone who had studied Obama and his communist ties, and beliefs would not be worrying about Romney. Anyone, who had read Obama’s book, read about Frank Marshall, Bernadine Dohrn, Bill Ayers, Louis Farahkhan(Sp), Rev Wright, Valarie Jarrett, who said she followed Van Jones for two years before hiring him and loved his ideologies, and so many others would realize right away that you should fear Obama. If cmonreallyreally, really did choose capitalism over communism then he would not show his allegiance to a communist. This guy is a poser! The question to cmonreallyreally, is how is Obama going to create more jobs? Build a rail system from Souther California to Central California, seriously. 69 billion dollars, for what? I know, so he can pay off his teamsters. Oh, how about taxing the rich, after all they do not pay their fair share, really? Okay, lets look at the facts. 51% of Americans do not pay taxes. 70% of the total tax liability is paid for by the rich. If this is true then 30% of the tax liability is paid for by the middle class. This means that the 51% who do not pay taxes are either under employed or do not have jobs, correct? So, now Obama’s great idea is to put it to the wealthy, why? So, he can pay for four days of government? If you are that obtuse, let me spell it out. Obama has no budget. He has no idea what he is spending or where it is going (He does know about his payoffs to his radical friends). If he has no budget, then he has no clue at where the wasteful spending is, so that he can cut it. Yet, before he cuts wasteful spending, he asks Americans to pay more in taxes? Now while we are sleeping he funds NPR, which is a public news broadcast, another 1.9 billion (have to check my figures on this one.) and then finds another billion or so to give to the Muslim Brother hood in Egypt. The thing that really is upsetting is that progressives just chose to be ignorant! They really do not want to find out that their ideology is wrong. Obama is spending us into oblivion and it is not by mistake. He is weakening this great country everyday he is in office.

I never had Chik-fil-a; now I have had it several times. Hope their profits soar!

LOL, I am sure he will have his son and Van in the meeting. The meeting will start off with Van, Van, Van, Van, Van I am the only one to make profits, I am the one who has paid your salary and you teach your son to steal $11 dollars from me? I want the eleven dollars Van, tell your son I will have it tomorrow or else I will pull the plug on the American dollar making your sons $11 worth nothing.

  • Anonymous

We all know the best route for his son to take is to get a $1million dollar Government Grant with his father’s influence. Then set up the stand for a weekend using paid employees. Monday file bankruptcy, keep the million and have the Government give the kids that worked a severance package. Glenn, when are you going to learn the system. This will not work in New York unless the lemonade is made with a sugar substitute!

Once again socialism is for the little people, not for the elitists like obama etal.  Mitt ran Bain Capital and Obama runs PAIN CAPITAL.

  • Anonymous

It was most definitely NOT about bridges and roads. If it was why bother mentioning the “‘teacher’ that helped educate you”, etc? The point was that no one is responsible for their own success, the everyone is dependent on someone else for their own success.
This is right in line with any socialist/ statist/ communist teaching- the COLLECTIVE is responsible for everything. The individual simply does not exist. No matter how hard you work, no matter what your financial burden, or risk that you take, that the individual did not build it themselves. They had to cross a bridge at some point, is absolutely repulsively ignorant, manipulative, and just a plain moot argument. It’s garbage. Drivel.
I can’t understand why people were cheering. Those people really need to see the wizard, because they are missing a brain.
You don’t get Chic-Fil-A. Again, the response is BECAUSE OF the idiocy of the left, in criticizing an independent company because they don’t march lock step into the abyss and their ideology. So much for being the party of ‘tolerance’. The Left is tolerant- so long as one doesn’t disagree with them.
God given heritage? Yeah, as in Providence, and The Creator as previously mentioned in the Founding documents (maybe you could read them sometime). God is mentioned quite a bit. Or most of the writings of the Founders. Benjamin Franklin, perhaps? Nature’s God? That’s the One of which I speak. Believe what you want.
The majority of our society as a whole has moved far away from any moral foundation. Because of this, people look to the Government to solve societies ills. A position that was long held by Nature’s God (call Him what you will), has been discarded for “enlightened” Man’s view that the gods called Science and Government can take over. Ever wonder why Stalin, Hitler, etc always feel the need to reject and eliminate religion? Because they can’t have the competition. You cannot have God and a dictatorship. They are not compatible. Like oil and water. Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Statism…all either are or become dictatorships whereby the State IS god.
Needless to say, given the loss of proper foundational strength in moral teachings of the Bible or Torah, people are instead allowed to wallow about in moral relativism where up means down and down means up, where right is ok for me but wrong for you, and on and on. In a word- insanity. Nowhere in nature are things relative and inconsequential to its surroundings. Indeed, the green wackos will have us all believe that Nature is a delicate balance of forces. In that small detail, I would agree. But moral relativism is bunk. Anti-science, anti-intelligence.
Like Jesus’ teaching of building a home on sand or building a home upon rock, the Man who builds his home (in this case, his moral base) upon sand (moral relativism), is doomed to fail.
Does that mean that people did not cheat decades and centuries ago when the Bible was Supreme? Of course not. Man, by his very nature is flawed. Broken. Wicked. Scheming. Not nice.
The farther Man distances himself from Nature’s God, the greater the atrocities committed by the hands of Men (how many millions killed by Mao, Stalin, Hitler? Millions!!
We need more God (the uppercase one, nice trick there).
There is no such thing as ‘the BEAST of Capitalism’. That’s a figment of your imagination.
What there truly is, is the Beast called Man that without Nature’s God is nothing more than an intelligent animal.
To rise above the animals, we need God (read your Rabbi Lapin, friend).

Of course he didn’t forget he is Van Jones, he doesn’t have to pay, prove or give back a dime. His son will be able to set up his stand and make money off of it without paying anything, unlike to little white girls who had to take down their stand because they didn’t have a permit.  Unfortunate!!!  We have got to change the way this world is heading.  We need a revival and get the Lord back in control because we fall to our demise.  God help us!!!

You know what, I’m done with this site, I come here genuinely as I’m concerned with this country and the direction it is going, I trying to find like minded folks, I’ve found some of Mr Becks post very interesting.  I’m looking for open minded free thinking people and real discussion about politics etc etc.  All I’ve had on this site if I question anything, I get comments like I’m an idiot, a communist, a homosexual, an alcoholic? and countless others.  Well, I guess the hypocrisy of supposed “christians” is apparent on this site.  With all the comments I’ve made I’ve never insulted anyone.

You lots are so blinded by this hatred for Obama that your not realising that a wolf in sheeps clothing is running against him.

I pity you I do, You rage and hatred is all consuming on this site, there is no open dialogue of civil discussion.

So I hope you get what you wish for…..  I think your going to be unhappy with that too.

    peace.

I don’t feel sorry for you, if that is the response you want. If you took five minutes to investigate Obama then you would have some tough questions to answer in regards to your allegiance. I believe you are a poser, a person on this sight to get others to vote for Obama and that is it. If you were who you said you were than you would have done your homework, and not presented yourself as just someone looking for the facts. I have been in sales for over 21 years and now in the health industry. I study people and what they say, how they say it, and any inconsistencies. I could immedaitely tell which vendor my client was speaking to, just by the questions he asked me. Your no different! Re-read your posts and you will immediately see your inconsistencies. I believe you came to this site with an agenda and not to simply have an intellectually honest discussion. Again, look at your posts.

That’s sad if Van Jones son wants to make money with his lemonade stand in order to save $5, spend $3 and give $3. That would mean the kid only intends to make $12. He really needs to set his sights a bit higher. Maybe think about how the first twelve will lead to the next 12 and the next and so on…

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry if you feel personally insulted, but as wvelie noted, look at your posts. Reviewing this post, I don’t see anyone ridiculing you.
You state that you are looking for an ‘open dialogue of civil discussion’ and that you’re ‘looking for an open minded free thinking people’ to have a ‘real’ discussion with, yet when views opposing yours are presented, or, when one expounds upon their position in response to your questions, you throw what appears to be a temper tantrum and give up. This does not help your case, BTW, rather has you looking more like what wvelie addressed. Makes you look like a poser.
Let’s have an honest discussion. I’ve presented my points, yet I haven’t seen an educated retort on your end.
Let’s discuss Franklin’s definition of Nature’s God. Let’s review Rabbi Lapin’s work ‘Thou Shall Prosper’. Or the Bible. Let’s discuss the way Mao/ Stalin/ Hitler came to power, or the ultimate death and horror that came from these ideas. Let’s discuss the history of Man moving away from God, and how horrific the results have been.
Or let’s talk science about the Big Bang Theory as proposed by Albert Einstein, and how it can be explained that God could create the universe in mere days as explained in the Bible.
Or let’s discuss what holds our cells together. Laminins, and what do they look like? Coincidence?
    What about the ‘God Particle’?
How about who Nature’s God is?
I can’t speak for everyone, but I can say that for me, I don’t have a personal hatred for Obama; rather, an extreme disgust for the nothing that he really is (or one could read the puppet he really is) and more importantly, how he and his Progressive friends are and have been doing to destroy one of the- if not THE- most important creations by Man in the entire History of Man, that being The United States of America and its founding documents.
I look at it from the prism of: if the creation of America was inspired by Divine Providence (which I believe it to be), then trying to deconstruct or destroy this for ideas of what Man (in all of his fallacy and weakness) believes to be better (i.e.: the farther man moves from God, the worse it gets for all- historically proven), is doing work to be against Divine Providence.
Or more simply, if God created America and it is good, then who and why would one want to destroy that?
They must be doing work of evil.
Even though they think they are doing right, they are wrong.
Obama is wrong. He simply does not understand the History of Man. I’m not sure he cares. It runs contrary to Soros and Alynsky.
So, anytime you want to discuss any of these topics, I’m game.
But if you’re just a poser, then I won’t be losing too much sleep waiting for a response.

No.  Obama’s, “You did not build your business…” statement is NOT an out of context soundbite whatsoever.  Did you actually listen to the whole thing?  It’s even worse than the sound bite represents.  Not falsely created by conservatives whatsoever.  It was an HONEST understanding of what Obama ACTUALLY SAID.

To be fair, Hitler didn’t really eliminate religion like Stalin did.  Though he did reject it as ridiculous as proven by some of his own statements, Hitler was smart enough to know that if you control the religion, you control the people.  With that in mind, he didn’t actually eliminate religion.  He merely used it to help him get into the hearts of the German people. And it worked, too.

yeah, but you’re not getting that his brain-dead father has espoused communism over free market principles. Therefore, the son is satisfied with mediocrity.

Can’t be more successful than your peers, you see. “Fairness”, and all.

  • Anonymous

man, you don’t get these things. In a normal sense, this is a minor issue. HOWEVER, Van Jones is somebody who trumpets the values of communism and bigger government/ socialism. He is against capitalism (a marxist term). Though the issue itself may appear minor, it is huge when it comes to (yet again) the lunacy of the left and their contradictions and extreme lack of principles and moral founding.
If Van Jones’ own son is attempting to make money on his own, that is a tremendous divergence from ‘we all did this together’ nonsense.
You know, like Al Gore preaching that the world is melting yet building a house that requires a power plant to provide electricity to.
