With the election just around the corner and the mainstream media continuing to ignore the stories of actual importance, Glenn decided to take a trip down memory lane and play some of President Obama’s most telling remarks that you probably haven’t heard in a while.
“I want to go through some of the most outrageous things this President has done,” Glenn said. “We just started to compile the things that you need to hear. We’re going to go through the audio clips of the most outrageous things that the President of United States has said or believes in.”
The list of truly ludicrous statements Glenn, Pat, and Stu dug up were nothing short of amazing, and hearing the President, in his own words, divulge his beliefs is pretty enlightening (especially when you listen to them one after another, after another, after another…)
Below are a few of the highlights that are sure to make your head spin.
When it comes to wealth, Obama has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t like rich people.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I think when you spread the wealth around I think it’s good for us.
Really, it is?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I do think at is certain point you’ve made enough money.
How much money is ‘enough money,’ Mr. President?
Obama loves to flip-flop on anything and everything regarding Israel – proclaiming his support one day and backtracking the next.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: We must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state with secure, recognized defensible borders. And Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: The truth is that this was an example where we had some poor phrasing in the speech and we immediately tried to correct the interpretation that was given. The point we were simply given we don’t want barbed wire running through Jerusalem.
That seems like a really great way to assure our ally we’ve got their back.
Take a look at this comment, in which Obama describes his views on collective salvation.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Recognizing that my fate tied up with their fates that my individual salvation is not going to come about without a collective salvation for the country. Unfortunately I think that recognition requires that we make sacrifices and this country has not been willing to make the sacrifices necessary to bring about the new day and the new age.
“Do you believe in collective salvation – that your spiritual fate is tied up in the collective salvation of the country and the world,” Glenn asked in response to the statement. “I don’t. I believe in the saving power of Jesus Christ. Do you believe in collective salvation because he does.”
Perhaps most telling are the President’s various remarks on the Constitution. A Constitutional scholar himself, here he is on the Constitution and founding documents.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: That generally the constitution is a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can’t do to you. It says what the federal government can’t do to you but it doesn’t say what the state government or the federal government must do on your behalf. And that hasn’t shifted and one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power about which you bring redistributive change.
“How did he survive that,” Stu asked. “How did this guy get elected after he said that?”
It’s safe to say that the founders purposely made sure the Constitution didn’t mention what the state or federal government “must do on your behalf,” and anyone who has studied the Constitution should probably know that. But then again, this is the same man who said, “I think [the Constitution] is an imperfect document, and I think this is a document that reflects some deep flaws in American culture.”
Too bad the majority of Americans have no idea Obama has said these things, since the media fails to report it. And if he wins reelection in November, you can probably bet we will hear a lot more of the same from the President.
