Beck explains why he is no longer using the New York Times bestseller list

Another day, another mainstream media fail.

“We want to congratulate Richard Paul Evans for the number one Nielsen BookScan book in the country. Of course, the New York Times put him at number two, which is strange. That’s now the third book from me and Mercury Ink that just, no matter what the numbers say, just cannot be number one,” Glenn said.

The New York Times uses their own “formula” to determine their bestseller list and do not automatically put the book that sold the most copies at the top of the list. Glenn has decided to now use Nielsen BookScan instead, as they just count the number of copies that were actually sold.

“(The New York Times) just discredited themselves in such an incredible fashion that it’s just not even worth thinking about anymore,” Glenn said.

    The New York Times best seller list is, to be blunt, rigged in favor of certain authors that match the agenda of the Times.

    If you’re a perceived threat to their way of life and their Secular Progressive agenda, NYTs and all the rest of the SP media are going to bend the truth or flat out lie to serve whatever purpose they come up with to justify it.

    I bought it on Kindle months ago for both me and my 14 y/o grandson….he finished in ONE DAY! He loved it!!!!  I have to wait til the weekend because I don’t want to get fired. Did they leave open the option for Vey 3?  If so, I’m in.

    BookScan will do for books what SoundScan did for the music industry:  publish numbers rather than opinions.  The NYT opinion list will go the way of Billboard’s old opinion list — in the trash.

    I was wondering about that anyway. On the one hand, bashing the NYT for beeing biased, on the other hand taking credit for beeing on their Best Seller list. Doesnt make sense. Good move to leave them, Glenn !!

    That’s true. FOX does exactly the same though – just in the opposite political direction. There is hardly any news outlet that is truly objective anyway, they all serve their masters who pay them.

    That’s truly strange how the New York Times won’t put how many books are sold as their criteria. How else do books get to be at certain numbers? It shouln’t matter about agendas. Books are books and how popular it is should determine the placement.

    New York Times….or New York Slimes where their interview with Lara Logan of CBS who survived a brutal gang rape at the hands of  200 to 300 Egyptian men last year. They spun the story with PC that they did NOT say that she was raped by Radical Islamist sympathizers. Plus some of the stuff was loaded with political correctness and bias that they left out the rapists screaming “Jew, Jew” or “Mubarak’s Israeli blonde reporter.” HOW stupid they have become and proves just how much Ms. Logan and the Times as well as the liberal media have fallen to the liberal ideologies.

    The Times is afraid of conservative books–there are so many good ones (Marshall Scott’s “Hidden Agenda” wouldn’t even be reviewed, and the Times has done this all the time).

    I don’t think those that create the NYT’s list give a flying frick about glenn’s opinion here.  Why should they?Even though glenn may not know it yet, he isn’t the second coming.
