Last night, following Ann Romney’s well received RNC speech, Fox News contributor Juan Williams wasted no time sticking his foot in his mouth saying Ann Romney looked “like a corporate wife” who hasn’t struggled in her life. Yes, Juan is referring to the same Ann Romney who has given birth to five sons, survived breast cancer, and has Multiple Sclerosis.
“Romney’s wife, Ann Romney, on the other hand looked to me like a corporate wife. And, you know, the stories she told about struggles, that’s hard for me to believe. I mean, she’s a very rich woman. I know that and America knows that,” Williams said last night on Fox.

This morning on radio, Glenn, who had moments before agreed with Juan’s remarks on Gov. Chris Christie’s speech, had a few things to say about the comments Juan Williams made on Ann Romney, which he described as, “one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever heard” and “unbelievable.”
“Why does everyone get a pass on saying these things about Ann Romney?” Glenn asked.
Consider the fact that Juan Williams said he had a hard time believe a woman with five children who has overcome breast cancer and is currently fighting M.S. – both of which are conditions that affect women more than men – simply because she has money is appalling. If a conservative commentator had made such a comment N.O.W. would probably be marching outside their studio right now.
“I don’t care how much money you have, would you rather have a good healthy life or all the money in the world? I think she would rather be poor than have MS and breast cancer,” Glenn said. “But maybe it’s just me.”
Juan also backed up what he meant by saying a corporate wife looks like “a woman whose husband takes care of her and she’s been very lucky and blessed in this life.”
A woman whose husband has taken care of her? She’s busy raising five boys, all of which seemed to turn out to be upstanding citizens, and Juan Williams finds her to be a pampered “corporate wife” taken care of by her husband.
“Do you know how hard that is?” Pat asked rhetorically. “Apparently not – apparently he’s got no concept of how hard that is. And they didn’t start out rich. I mean, his dad was, but his dad wasn’t taking care of Mitt when he went out and started his own family. His dad wasn’t paying the rent for him.”
Glenn also pointed out that Mitt Romney attended law and business school at the same time – not exactly an easy feat.
“Is there a problem that somebody is successful after they work their butt off?” Glenn asked.
Pat explained that Ann and Mitt were struggling. In the speech, she talked about the tiny apartment they lived in and how Mitt Romney was attending school at two locations and trying to make ends meet for his family.
“It was hard,” Pat said. “And he overcame all that and became successful.”
According to the left, that’s a bad thing.
Plain and simply put, Juan’s comment was insulting and fit in lockstep with the Democrat’s talking points to paint Mitt Romney as a corporate CEO’s that must be evil because he worked his way to the top.
“What they’re saying is, here’s a guy who’s had everything handed to him, you know, he’s just this corporate CEO, this cold, calculated person, and they can’t understand your struggles because they’ve never had them,” Stu explained.
“This is the entire approach to the election from the Democratic Party.”
