Juan Williams smears Ann Romney as a ‘corporate wife’

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Last night, following Ann Romney’s well received RNC speech, Fox News contributor Juan Williams wasted no time sticking his foot in his mouth saying Ann Romney looked “like a corporate wife” who hasn’t struggled in her life. Yes, Juan is referring to the same Ann Romney who has given birth to five sons, survived breast cancer, and has Multiple Sclerosis.

“Romney’s wife, Ann Romney, on the other hand looked to me like a corporate wife. And, you know, the stories she told about struggles, that’s hard for me to believe. I mean, she’s a very rich woman. I know that and America knows that,” Williams said last night on Fox.

Watch the segment below:

This morning on radio, Glenn, who had moments before agreed with Juan’s remarks on Gov. Chris Christie’s speech, had a few things to say about the comments Juan Williams made on Ann Romney, which he described as, “one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever heard” and “unbelievable.”

“Why does everyone get a pass on saying these things about Ann Romney?” Glenn asked.

Consider the fact that Juan Williams said he had a hard time believe a woman with five children who has overcome breast cancer and is currently fighting M.S. – both of which are conditions that affect women more than men – simply because she has money is appalling. If a conservative commentator had made such a comment N.O.W. would probably be marching outside their studio right now.

“I don’t care how much money you have, would you rather have a good healthy life or all the money in the world? I think she would rather be poor than have MS and breast cancer,” Glenn said. “But maybe it’s just me.”

Juan also backed up what he meant by saying a corporate wife looks like “a woman whose husband takes care of her and she’s been very lucky and blessed in this life.”

A woman whose husband has taken care of her? She’s busy raising five boys, all of which seemed to turn out to be upstanding citizens, and Juan Williams finds her to be a pampered “corporate wife” taken care of by her husband.

“Do you know how hard that is?” Pat asked rhetorically. “Apparently not – apparently he’s got no concept of how hard that is. And they didn’t start out rich. I mean, his dad was, but his dad wasn’t taking care of Mitt when he went out and started his own family. His dad wasn’t paying the rent for him.”

Glenn also pointed out that Mitt Romney attended law and business school at the same time – not exactly an easy feat.

“Is there a problem that somebody is successful after they work their butt off?” Glenn asked.

Pat explained that Ann and Mitt were struggling. In the speech, she talked about the tiny apartment they lived in and how Mitt Romney was attending school at two locations and trying to make ends meet for his family.

“It was hard,” Pat said. “And he overcame all that and became successful.”

According to the left, that’s a bad thing.

Plain and simply put, Juan’s comment was insulting and fit in lockstep with the Democrat’s talking points to paint Mitt Romney as a corporate CEO’s that must be evil because he worked his way to the top.

“What they’re saying is, here’s a guy who’s had everything handed to him, you know, he’s just this corporate CEO, this cold, calculated person, and they can’t understand your struggles because they’ve never had them,” Stu explained.

“This is the entire approach to the election from the Democratic Party.”

Really offensive.  Nothing else to say.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Juan Williams is a hypocrit of the highest order; Ann Romney has overcome much, and this man berates and makes false accusations and claims against her. Typical.

I could think of two words for Mr Williams “Your fired.”

We could hope…but then we would miss him whining come November.

    We’ll still have Christ Matthews.

Well, she IS a corporate wife. She’s the wife of a corporate man who sells himself as that to the American people wishing to be president. No question about it. There is no smear here.

  • Anonymous

True. LOL thanks for the laugh.

  • Anonymous

Why should he be fired? For expressing his benign opinion?  Isn’t Beck amongst the most admant proponents of allowing freedom of speech, no matter how vile it is?  Which by the way Juan’s comments weren’t………. Anyway,  I find nothing harmful or negative about what Mr. Williams said.   It’s okay EVERYONE.  Sometimes, you can call a spade a spade, and it does not necessarilly have to mean anything neither positive nor negative.  For example, Romney has made a lot of money, correct?  And the fact that he has made lot’s of money means that he can AFFORD things, like luxury items and perks, that most people cannot.  Now this fact, (in my opinion) is neither good nor bad.  But at the same time it’s something that’s undeniable. Or can somone dispute this?
So in having said this, let’s put Juan WIlliam’s comments into their proper context.  Mrs. Romney has not lived the life of an avg. woman.  WHile she has struggled with hardships, like her physcial ailments, that happen to many everyday people, she has by and large not struggled through economic hardship.  Her husband’s stellar career in the private sector (which i don’t condemn), has afforded the Romney family, the benefit of a semi-comfortable life. Or am I wrong?  So Juan Williams is correct to point out, that despite a good and heartfelt attempt to try and come off as an every day woman, who   empathizes with hardships that middle and lower class women endure, she really can’t. Because in fact, she has been a corporate wife. Never mind the negative implication of the phrase, that some (like Beck) would want you to believe. If you use your critical thinking skills, and not let your viseral reaction to automatically condemn “everything” that liberals say, you too will see that it’s not really that wild of a notion to accept that ANN probablly relates more to people who take lavish vacations, own horses, and own multiple homes; than those who have to worry about paying for day care, and or how they are going to pay rent on a monthly basis.  It is, what it is, people. I”m not negatively judging her for it, I’m just like Mr. Willimas correctly did, pointing it out.

Whether you agree or disagree with Juan Williams I have always thought he was or is a pretty honest guy.  I’m starting to rethink that. Either way it’s a lose lose statement for Williams. Williams is far more ignorant thank I gave him credit and has pretensions of class warfare or somebody at Fox has ask him to swing that lefty hammer at the Romney’s. Either way it was ignorant or just plain dishonest to say those things . You lose Mr. Williams. You just lost my respect.

  • Anonymous

It’s a shame that someone who disagrees with your train of thikning “loses your respect”.  Isn’t that kind of myopic and arrogant of you?  He didn’t disparage her, he just kept it real (according to him), and TOLD US, his opinion, which is that he didn’t buy what she was selling.  I guess you wanted him to fawn over her, like the rest of the fox news casters did?  How enlightening would that have been?  4 newsman all an accordance. But perhaps that is what you want?  A lack of diversity of opinions?

Mr. Fine! She wasn’t always a corporate wife…..it takes years of hard work to accomplish anything in America. And talk about selling himself, just what has Obama done for four years. Hope and Change to spending money we don’t have. Do some research!

Juan Williams is beyond himself! Fox news needs to can him quickly! Go home Juan!

  • Anonymous

Juan went on this morning to clarify that he was just saying that as people born to privilege they couldn’t relate to the average American. His clarification made obvious his disdain for people who have money. So, if you have money, you don’t feel pain, don’t have to study to finish college, have no childbirth pain, don’t experience family dynamics, don’t suffer when you have cancer or MS, don’t deal with marital problems or joy, and don’t keep a budget? Please Juan, this is beneath you! It is the “little man syndrome,” or class envy; you  pick.

And I thought I liked Juan! How crass and unfeeling, and certainly beneath decency!

In the past 3 or 4 months Juan Williams has been Mr. DNC-Talking Points Williams. Must be because he’s afraid his beloved Obama is about to be booted from his Pennsylvania Avenue palace. Juan used to a fair-minded liberal – if there is such a thing; I’m beginning to think there isn’t.

Juan Williams you should be ashamed of yourself. Do you remember when NPR labeled you a bigot and racist? Don’t label people unless you know the truth.

  • Anonymous

I sent an email to Fox this morning saying that although I don’t agree with Jaun Williams politically, I liked him as a person. That all changed last night when he showed himself to be a small, petty man with his “corporate wife” comment. I also wrote that I will not watch any shows where he fills in even though it meams I will sometimes miss seeing some of my favorite shows like The Five and Bill O’Reilly. I am a big Fox fan so I don’t like this idea but I like him even less.I think he owes apologies to the Romney’s and to the Republican convention – on the air!

Meg– Glenn, there are many wise people out there that supports you all the way.I don’t understand Fox News keeping Juan Williams. He has lost my respect. He is so ” racist ” it isn’t funny. From now on, I will not watch a program he is on. Is he just jealous, or ignorant? Both?

I have MS, being diagnosed in 1992.  I am a mom of a large number {most adopted and Special needs}.  FYI, five boys is work. Not to mention that MS is a debilitating disease and it affects life every day for those who have it.  As well, other auto-immune diseases often piggy-back the MS….

It is deplorable that anyone would put MS in the category of “cushiness” {not to mention the breast cancer}. Good gracious, JW, maybe a year of MS yourself might change your words.

Besides, is Ann running? Somehow I just don’t believe her name will be on the ticket in November.  So leave her alone.

  • Anonymous

Meg–What an idiot you are. I saw and heard Juan Williams, and with the smear on his face, he had nothing but contempt for Ann Romney. What do you know about smear??

  • Anonymous

I listened to Ann Romney and as a woman felt her conection to my life. She has values and loves her husbnad, her kids and grandkids, that showed. She goes to church..yea!! She has an illness and had cancer and still is up there dealing with it all, not feeling sorry for herself.. In life  you meet people who can be bitter when adversities hit them yet she is still up , happy, and alive.
The Obama’s are taking out all the unhappiness they felt in their lives on the USA. Michelle is only “happy” b/c Obama became president. She is dictating her idea of food values for others obviously if you look at her.
This woman is classy like a Jackie Kennedy. We need to bring civility back not this lowlife group in the White House now.

  • Anonymous

Lack of diversity like MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS. CNN ETC. Give me a break. Funny how when a negative comment on a conservative woman is o.k. but we are called racist if we say something about Michell O. And the NOW group is no where to be found to defend conservative women. So yes, we the conservative public have to defend our own. Ann Romney is a survivor and will survive Juan williams’ misplaced discription of her. Pity he had to stoop so low.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.p.sr.39 Michael P. Gowen Sr

In this fight. There is little room for diversity of opinions!  Diffferent opinions vote with other canidates. So diversity is not good most of the time , because it divides people. This was more of a cheap shot and intended as such. If you are on the team come on , if you aren’t….hit the road and vote for the Liberal. This woman has struggled and has grown with her husband and his sucess. She is as much a part of his sucess as he is. Without her….I can promise you Mr. Romney is not where he is today.

It was unwarranted and judgmental. Whether he buys her story or not does not justify treating a person’s situation with such disdain. Why should anyone respect a man who does not respect others? If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything… especially when you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003310541364 Donna Lynn Golladay

Did Juan not hear her say that Mitt Romney was not handed a thing, that he worked for his money (he donated his inheritance for crying out loud)? She talked about when they first got married, how they ate alot of tuna fish on a budget, and how they made it all the way to where they are now. I personally know a family that started out in very meager surroundings, but with hard work (yes, they built that!)  they are now very well off, and the ladies in the family are down to earth – they don’t act like spoiled, rich housewives. In fact, Ann Romney reminds me alot of one of the ladies.
Juan’s statement is so putrid, it makes me wonder if he’s auditioning for MSNBC? He is right up their alley, just the kind of pond scum they like to hire.
Anyway, Juan Williams is an embarassment to women. SHAME.

Rich people never had to struggle to earn their education & wealth? Juan’s comments are indefensible and nonsensical. Sorry Juan…big gaffe.

  • new2la

Juan Williams, I believe is not your typical mean spirited Liberal.  I know what he meant, albeit not a very flattering comment about Ann Romney.    He inferred that just because the Romney’s are wealthy, she didn’t have to work outside the home.   Bringing up boys, especially five,  I am certain was no easy job even if she had help.

  • Anonymous

Why was it unwarranted? It was his opinion.  Republicans and Conservatives usually make blanket statements about people on the left, suggesting we are radicals, when really the left is big, full of diferent factions, with different ideas.  So answer me this?  Are not people like beck judgmental and unwarranted when they say not nice things about liberals/leftists?    Willimams never did not disrespect Ann, he merely implied that he didn’t necessarilly find the empathy she was trying to channel believable.  That’s hardly anything radical to say. Answer me another question, do you believe and come away believing everything all the politicians that you like have to say?  Are you teling me that sometimes, you can’t be honest about what your party, or a particualr member says, that you might not agree with?  It’s okay, you’re not the worst human in the world, if a politician, yes, even one you like, says something, that u find hard to believe.

  • Anonymous

I understand your rationale sir.  It serves a purpose. It’s pragmatic thinking.  But you must admit that you are essentially saying that we should be apathetic and accept the two party system.  Which means, that people either have to vote republican or democrat.  Don’t you find that a tad bit sad and actually un-democratic.  A true deomcracy allows for a diverstiy of thinking, no?

  • Anonymous

It is funny that Mr. Williams can say this about Mrs. Romney and never have I heard him say the same about Mrs Obama. She in just as many ways could be called a ”

I mean, she’s a very rich woman. I know that and America knows that,”   As always, just try and take the focus off the true issues.

Juan Williams is ONE waste on tv, though more stupid are Bob Beckel of the 5, who are NO replacement to Glenn Beck, none whatsoever. ONLY  two of the 5 are intelligent and the rest are laughable for Politics and this Show in Particular. Sean Hannity is the ONLY one, other than Breitbart and Glenn Beck, who are men of power and  care. I say revise FOX to get rid of the Idiots Collum, or however you spell the fools name, and Juan is just plain blind to reality.
I can not say that Mitt/Willard Roomney’s wife is not a corp wife, as she was Married to a man who was a Lawyer and Corporation Builider. His Steel mfg did not lose jobs because of him, BUT because CLINTON passed NAFTA for the Bilderbergeres, to get the presidency and ruined all the Jobs, before Bush and bho/BS. NOW fear has Bill Clinton at the DNC and H C getting the UN to take all your Guns.
Get real, get rid of these arses, as they only take up time, and are worthless hyprocrisy. I cannot stand Juan, Collum, Beckel. If you are getting 3 democrats on thes shows, get some WITH BRAINS. Is there any reason to believe that Ann’s situation was otherwise as she stated? If not, this makes Williams’ remark unwarranted. He can have his opinion but when you make it public, you are setting yourself up for ridicule. I may agree with everything a person says but it only takes one statement to lose the respect. For instance, a person could say all the right things then continue on to say they believe that child pornography is okay. This right here is enough to lose my respect and no longer will I be interested in hearing what this person has to say. Williams crossed a line for some people when he minimized what Ann Romney has gone through. His belief that money solves all our problems makes him delusional to myself and others. He trivializes motherhood and the work and dedication it takes to raise well-behaved and productive members of society. He also laughs in the face of those who have gone through serious medical conditions such as MS and Cancer. There is a lot expected out of women. They are often mother, daughter, sister, wife, housekeeper, cook, socializer, and so much more. And yet, if they do not worker a full-time job, they are painted by society (though mainly ignorant men) as useless. If this is the way he feels about women, then no, I do not respect him.

I like Juan as well, but that was crazzy of him!  I thought is was one of the most heart felt speeches I have heard in a long time!  I am not a corporate wife-far from it, but she got to me, made me feel things and s, she had me think back how lucky I was to have had the flex jobs I had when my kids were young during the 90′s.  Oh and duh-yes we needed EVERY penny I brought in but I chose to be with my kids cause I loved it!!
Lets be honest, we all know corporate wives, union wives, teacher wives, sales rep wives, doctor wives and single(have the kids 50% of the time) woman/Mom’s, sometimes I think having the kids 50% of the time is the easiest of all-but that’s MY opinion:)  .
I will still respect Juan because I like him!  Here’s to love, man!!

I’m sorry but avg. women, and avg. americans in general. DOn’t own multiple cars, or own horses.  I’m not mad that the Romney’s have these things, but they are indicators that they can’t relate with avg. women and in essence with regards to ann, avg. working and poor women.  Last time I checked, working and poor women make up the bulk of AVG. women in this country. So don’t try to mince my words, and make it seem as though I’m hating on ANN. I’m not, I’m just pointing out a fact.  And if you read their bios, both Mitt and ANN, by and large have lived privliged lives. It is what it is, as I stated earlier.  It’s not something they need to be ashamed about nor put down for, but YOU KNOW WHAT, it is something that exists, which is why I have no problem with what Juan said.

  • Anonymous

Juan behaved like a bigot. What if someone said they didn’t believe that African Americans struggled to get where they are today? That is just so insensitive to say that it was hard to believe that Ann and Mitt came from a hard life. Then to use the term “corporate wife”, was really mean. Is he saying that anyone married to someone who made it is now somehow a bad person? There are many on the liberal side that have done just that. I don’t see him calling them out. How can he get away with such horrible remarks that disrespect Ann Romney? He is basically calling her a liar. Juan is reaching to a new low in his career. I supported him when he was in trouble even though I don’t share his beliefs. But now I think he has lowered himself to smearing others with no evidence. Maybe he fears his idol Obama will be fired.

Point #1: We do not live in a ‘democracy’ sir.  We live in a REPUBLIC.
Point #2:  Juan Williams is a talking head and his head is filled with democratic-progressivist-bullet-points.  He hasn’t got an original opinion in his mindless head.
Point #3: if you think Juan came up with that “corporate wife” comment on his own, you don’t watch him very often.  I’m sure someone gave that comment to him sometime before Ann Romney ever took the stage.
Point #4:  the problem is that the leftist democratic party doesn’t have a diversity of opinion…  they all have the same opinion written for them…  all they’re doing is reading from the same script.

  • Anonymous

It would be nice if he had some evidence or actual facts to base his hatred on. To just make statements off the cuff like that is mean and nasty. If the right did that they would be called out on it. This has nothing to do with disagreeing with the man. It has everything to do with facts. The problem with the left is they throw out lies and they see what sticks. Juan was doing exactly that. He wants to throw a false story out there hoping someone like you will believe it.

  • Anonymous

MOst definitely.  THink about how different the presidentail debates would be if they let a third party candidate into the debate?  THe masses would get a totally different point of view.  But it’s not in the interests of either democrats or republicans to allow such a thing.  It potetially cuts into thier votes.  Don’t you agree?

This is just one example. WHich you can’t refute. The record is clear.  I can go on and on, if you like?

James….Juan didn’t keep it real.  He spouted DNC talking points, nothing more.  Watch him as the says this stuff…he almost seemed sheepish about it…as if he didn’t really believe it…but his progressive buddies in the DNC told him what he had to say to be in their good graces….and that’s what he did….he learned his “lesson”from getting fired from NPR.

Perhaps he seemed sheepish, bc he knows that he works for a republican news cable network, where the people on that news channel hardly ever criticize Romney?  Why is this not a more logical reason for seeming sheepish?  Is it not difficult to sometimes give an opinion that goes against the mainstream. WHIch Juan Gave. He wasn’t on NBC, or NPR, or CNN, he was on FOX.  He knew who his constiutency was, largely republicans and conservatives (they watch that channel).  SO it took some guts for him to say that.  You are making assumptions about the man. I honestly didnt’ find his criticism offensive. He spoke in a frank manner.  Wha’ts wrong with him saying that parts of her speech just didn’t seem believable?  WHy is it okay for fox and conservative news outlets to always suggest and imply taht Obama is a radical, and essentially imply that he is UNAMEIRCAN.  Haven’t those become RNC talking points?

I think it is important to recognize how we got here. I’m
not picking on Juan Williams when I say this and I hope this statement does not
have any or little reflection on Williams. If you believe the number one form of
communication between the American people is the media then we have a serious problem!

Over the past decade I ask my friends, “ do you watch the news
?” Most of them reply,  “No their all a bunch
    of liars” .

Ok, fair enough, you don’t watch the news, you don’t read
the news, so how do you know who to vote for ?

The answer to that question ended with “ fish eyes “ and a
    lot of crickets.

Whether we like it or not the media does not have Tenure !
They have and should always be expected report a fair and accurate truth. In my
opinion, failure to do so has brought the most powerful nation on the face of
    the earth near ruin.

    I don’t care about Ann Romney’s speech ! I figured out who
this person is a long time ago. A- a human being, B-a religious person, C-loved
by her children, her husband, and people who know her !

What else matters ? between you and me ? What else really
matters ? As I say to my enemies, adversaries, and others, “ May the Lo-d G-D
bless you and keep you” . May he ever and always find you his faithful and
    trusting servants.

If the corporate wife reads this ” large or small” let me be
the first person to say Thank you !

    Thank you and G-d bless.

Juan Williams believes what he believes . . . . and, honestly says what he believes:
Ann Romney does not understand the suffering of the average American because she is wealthy. So, everyone who is financially successful does not understand what is like to ‘sacrifice’ on the path to success?

You miss the point that she lived the life of lower and middle class women for many years before Mitt became a rich CEO.

Do you think that she doesn’t remember that?
Does later success negate all the struggles prior to that success?

Is it so hard for you to believe that they were once just an average family struggling to make end meet?

It wasn’t that long ago I was a college student with a wife and child struggling to pay for a one room apartment. I’m not in that place now (though certainly not in Mitt’s income bracket). I’ve got a nice life and able to do things with my kids that my parents only dreamed of doing.

I don’t think he meant that she hasn’t struggled with her health problems. I believe he meant that it’s a hell of a lot easier to do if you’re Ms. Romney than oh say for example, someone trying to survive cancer, ms., etc. whom doesn’t have health insurance, whom makes minimum wage, whom struggles to put food on the table, whom doesn’t know how this will happen if she has to quit working the 60 hours a week she has been working for the past ten years.

His description of what he meant by Corporate wife is coming from the same perspective; successful people should be criticized because there are those who have not succeeded. If someone is successful you can learn from them, it is a waste of time to be jealous and resent them because you have failed. Ann Romney deals with her issues courageously and unselfishly. She doesn’t waste other people’s time demanding they feel sorry for her, demanding they give her attention. Has Ann Romney been taken care of, yes, because she picked the right person to start a family with; she made the right choice. For the women who wished they had what Ann Romney has, make the right choices. Examine the choices you made verses what she made. She married a man loyal  to his church, God and his family. The women who haven’t had is so lucky made different choices. I was raised and told “I had to put up with things.” I wasn’t taught if a man doesn’t treat you with respect and if he isn’t loyal to God or faith, it maybe a difficult relationship down the road.   I am one of those who wasn’t so lucky, but I admire Ann Romney, I wish I had parents who were blessed with the wisdom concerning personal relationships that Mitt and Ann were. I wasn’t, I am not angry at my parent for not advising me better, they did the best they could, it was all they knew. From my perspective;  I had a choice as I got older, to watch successful people and learn from them, or just except whatever was around me. It is an underhanded way to demean a bright woman. We all have worked with people who were not as successful as us at something, and demeaned us or wanted to degrade us, so they could feel better about themselves. They are like thieves, they want to steal your shining star, your achievement award.

Juan Williams is a liberal to the core, I do not think he believe that, I think he could NOT  afford to say something nice but had nothing else to say so that was the fist thing that came to his liberal mind. Fox News should have left him at  at the NPR SIDEWALK.  Williams  does not have an ounce of honesty in his bones.  Ann Romney looked very beautiful and was beautifully dressed. Her speech was very powerful, and  probably williams does not know any man that fully supports his wife. Williams I know you know couples that have 5 sons and maybe the female works but probably their sons come out like bad people, having 5 sons  like Ann, Good sons that any mother can be proud of, it is hard 24/7 work. His explanation for corporate wife  is something he made up, that is not what he meant. He did not believe someone would ask him what does it means. He really lacked guts after all.

I am shocked that Juan Williams would think so little of women who have given up their dreams and aspirations, as I did, and as Ann Romney did, to support their husbands’ careers. I was not a “corporate wife,” though.  I was a military wife.  For 27 years, we moved every 2 years, lived overseas, lived far from family, etc.  Though we are/were not wealthy (what is so wrong with wealth, anyway?), according to Williams’s line of thinking, I could not possibly have a clue about anything!  After all, I lived a parasitic life off of another, rather than “earning” my own way, as I guess Obama’s ideal female “Julia” apparently would have.  Williams puts me (and Ann Romney) on par with a tape worm, or the proverbial leach!  I appreciate Mr. William’s honesty, but I just do not understand the left’s preoccupation with lambasting and skewering women who have sacrificed their own individual dreams, for a single collective one.  I have never thought ill of my contemporaries who have had careers and families, as I probably would have had, too, given different circumstances. Why would they feel ill towards someone like me?  But, I have no regrets.  Well, there is one.  I regret that my incredibly fit, healthy, strong, wonderful husband was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.  Mr. Williams should take note that no amount of money can take away cancer.  It didn’t from Steve Jobs, and it didn’t from Ann Romney.  If he thinks that rich people don’t “struggle,” he should visit his local chemotherapy infusion center, or hospice provider.  He will surely be happy to discover wealthy people struggling in the fight of their lives, to a degree Mr. Williams could never imagine.  Yes, Mr. Williams, despite the ridiculous labels the left feels it must attach to everyone (rich, 1%-ers, racists, out-of-touch, mean, angry, cold, extremists, tea-baggers, etc.), we are ALL human beings.  ALL of us!  The ONLY people who don’t realize that are the “anti-female,” intolerant, angry, hateful, extreme democrats like you, Mr. Williams.

I have always thought that Juan Williams had a streak of “racist” in him, but when on the factor with Bill O Reilly, he tones down the rhetoric to appear more of a moderate. newlywed having a maid, a cook and a chauffeur eased her life while

living in the apt. when Mitt was taking two college courses.

And we all know that B.O. never rec’d any privileges.  Why, the poor

fella had to wash dishes and sweep the floors to earn money for his

    various colleges, didn’t he?

Sargehopper,  I’ve been neither rich nor poor.  Grew up what might be, lower middle

class, but in today’s America would be considered poor, probably.  However, we had a

roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food on the table.  If we were lacking

anything, I didn’t know about it and grew up a happy kid.   Married a man who worked

hard (white collar job) and provided us with all that we NEEDED as compared to want.

Was able to put 2 kids through college—this before the cost became so ridiculous.

He was always frugal (stingy, one might say), but we were able to take some nice

vacations, the house and car are paid for and we are debt free.    He handled the

finances and in retirement, we are doing OK.  Not living high on the horse, but no

money worries at the present.  Praise the Lord!

w.i.t.,  I have two words for Juan Williams—Charles Payne.   Do you know who he is?

He is a successful black man with his own business and appears on FOX Business

channel.  He grew up poor (in the Bronx, I think) and he and his brother were made fun

of by the other kids on their way to school because their mother made them dress well

and (may have this part wrong) they carried brief cases.  Who’s laughing now?

Shame on you Jaun, I think you’re jealous of the Romney’s. The love and care they have for each other  & how Mitt worked hard and busted his butt to take care of his wife & 5 sons.
I think that is something you know nothing about. That is the way all men should be, is to love and care for their wife & children. Not be an arrogant, ignorant ass like I see you to be.  You have just lost me as one of your veiwers, I don’t like the ignorance you are starting to show. All I can say is I feel sorry for your wife & children.

    Juan Williams is 100% RIGHT!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4HAW7OERGSC7VZM72V7IGDJ3B4 Sharmane

Corporate wife?  Well, to me better than the public assistance wife.  The wife who was educated at the public trough her whole life and never knew what it meant to have to make a profit and knows nothing about business.  Not mentioning names!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=819309534 Rebecca Lyne

Williams is right and this is coming from someone who indeed plans on voting for Romney.
There is simply no question that Ann Romney has never worked, never brought home a paycheck, never been held responsible for results, never punched a clock and never had a performance review. This is what Williams is saying. And please, the MS and Cancer issues are, of course, horrible personal struggles, but they are never to be used a shield against criticism on the substance of her speech. Also, the “raising five kids” point is a joke. I’m sorry, but you are NOT raising your kids any more than your husband is when they are in school all day long! It is a typical thing used by stay at home moms to garner some sort of credibility but I don’t buy it. Staying at home while your spouse shoulders all of the financial responsibility, while the kids are in school leaves you roughly 7-8 hours of the day to be productive…or not.

Ann Romney has lived a very good, priviliged life thanks in no small part to her father and her husband. How many college kids do you know with a stock portfolio?

  • NotSoFancyPants

Speaking — Your post is right on target!  Thank you for your husband’s service to our country and your family’s many sacrifices that go along with it.  It’s heartbreaking that he has cancer and my prayers are with him and your whole family.  May God bless you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=819309534 Rebecca Lyne

Then the corproate wife and the public assistance wife are societal equals.

  • new2la

Anyone who says staying at home moms like Ann doesn’t work, has obviously never done it, and doesn’t have children. If you do have a home and children and pay someone to do what it takes to take care of all the things that need doing, you better be making a lot of money!
Then there’s the fact that someone else is influencing the lives of your children and then you wonder why Johnny is obnoxious or a brat that has no manners.

Every mother I know would love the opportunity to stay home with their kids if they could afford to. Some are lucky enough to do so, and others jealous of those that can.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=819309534 Rebecca Lyne

Speaking, you are missing the point. Williams is right.I don’t see any evidence to suggest that Ann Romney had any sort of dreams or aspirations that she “sacrificed”  beyond the life she has lived. If one dreams of being a wife and mother, that is great! But the point is, let’s not pretend for a moment that such women, including you, understand what it means to be the financial support, the breadwinner of the family, because they/you do not.. When you don’t work and do not have to provide the roof over your head or the food in your mouth, you simply can not understand the struggles of the working individual and you can not fully appreciate the value of the money earned.

Also, I have to say, that I have always found it terribly offensive when the stay at home moms say that they are busy “raising their children”. Really? So how is it that for the 7 hours or so each day that the kids are in school , that stay at home moms are somehow “raising their children” more than the spouse who is out working and earning for that same amount of time each day?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=819309534 Rebecca Lyne

Same goes with woman who stay home for their children. Liberals deem this as a useless occupation….how sad. I wonder how many of them had a mom to take care of them growing up?

Charles Payne is a perfect example of how anyone can get ahead. I did hear his story and I admire the man. It was his own community that mocked him and called him names because he was told he was acting like a white man. But Payne knew what he needed to do to become successful and he did it. You are right when you say, “Who’s laughing now.” I love this story. Romney is an example of someone who made it as well. We should not knock anyone who got there. Rebecca Lyne, I hope that through your aggressive, repetitive postings, you are able to release some of your pent-up anger and frustration toward a specific group of women.  But, I doubt you will have convinced even one person that Juan Williams “is 100% correct” with what you have said.

YOU are clearly the one who missed the point, however.  Juan Williams said that Ann Romney was “like a corporate wife” who hasn’t struggled in her life.  I begged to differ.  My point was, “struggling” knows no socio-economic level.  PERIOD!  And, unless you have been or are in someone else’s shoes, you are a fool to say anything like that about ANYONE!  I won’t even go into why making such negative comments about any woman or wife adds absolutely NOTHING to the conversation about solving the issues our country is facing!  The ONLY purpose it serves is to further label and divide our society.  It’s destructive behavior.

In your haste to attack me, you failed to notice that I NEVER said I never worked (at a paying job), that I didn’t work at all during our marriage, or that I don’t work now!  The way you made me out to be such an ignorant boob because of my time spent as a “kept wife,”, it’s amazing that I was ever able to put “a roof over my head,” and “food in my mouth!”  Tell me, what exactly is it I did not understand about the “struggles of the working individual?”  Tell me, Rebecca, because I want to know what you have to say about MY life, which you know NOTHING about!  Because I’ve “been there, done that!”  AND, I did it doing one of the most dangerous jobs you could imagine!   And, I would do it all over again!  If you wouldn’t do what I have done, that’s fine. I would NEVER dream of attacking you for your career/life choices.  I would, however, defend myself, and others, from incendiary, offensive, pinheaded remarks by shallow, egocentric people like you and Juan Williams.

Let me say it as clear as I can…EVERYONE faces a variety of struggles in their lives.  EVERYONE.  While it is obvious that no one can experience the identical struggles of another person, that is where empathy, something you obviously lack, comes in.

I recommend that the next time you reply to a comment, you actually read it. And try, just a little, to put your rage aside enough to be able to understand what someone else is saying!

Glenn asked a question as he pointed out that Mitt Romney attended law and business school at the same time – not exactly an easy feat. “Is there a problem that somebody is successful after they work their butt off?” I for one, am sick of the liberal philosophy of “YOU didn’t build that!” Instead, the embodiment of democratic thought is found in the principles of the communist revolution in Russia. It espouses a belief that there is only one pool of resources and wealth, and, should one person take more of it than his/her neighbor, they are guilty of theft, necessitating reeducation, punishment and removal from either society or life, depending on the grievousness of the larceny.

Since Obama took office I and any person who has become successful, are now considered thieves and murderers. Thieves for becoming successful and a murderer for opposing Obamacare

Obama has very clearly articulated his contempt for the business community that provides 93% of all American jobs. He said, “You didn’t build that!”, referring to small businesses. To justify his beliefs, he said, “…there’s lots of hardworking folks out there.” Of course there are, but I would be willing to bet that if one of his children or his wife were sick, they would receive the finest healthcare that he feels someone of his stature deserves. In other words, there may be a grocery store clerk who works two jobs to make ends meet, but no one would trust the lives of his children to the ministrations of said clerk. The fact that the clerk works as many hours as a physician is irrelevant. It is the VALUE of the services provided by the particular profession in the eyes of those who patronize various community services that determines the pay scale of those providing the services.

Our country has reached a new low. Many fervently believe that they are entitled to the wealth earned by others by virtue of nothing more than the fact that they exist. They have been preprogrammed through public education to believe that success equates to immorality. Had I been given a glimpse of the future when I began my journey out of abject poverty, I likely would have become discouraged to the point of hopelessness.

12 years of education (paid for by my wife and myself, not my parents and not the government) while working to support a family and becoming successful is no longer considered the embodiment of the American dream. Now, I’m told that my studies count for nothing because I am a white male who enjoyed an unfair advantage over those of color. The fact that there were more hispanic females in my professional school than white males is irrelevant. I’m told that going for days without sleep during residency and the work ethic to make it through an additional PhD at the same time, afterwards building a successful business at great financial risk was not due to “work ethic”, but rather, an unearned advantage by virtue of unfair genetic lottery and societal racial preference.

The fact of the matter is that Juan Williams is a clear example of the hypocritical left. To him and all liberal idiots I say, I didn’t build that?! No, no…YOU didn’t build that.

Hey stupid, whether you like it or not, one of the specific powers granted to the Feds, by the Constitution, is the military. Social programs are unconstitutional, no matter which way you try to spin it.

WWJD? It doesn’t matter, the First Amendment exists for a reason and states that people can have faith in any religion they choose. Not everyone chooses Christianity, therefore, WWJD has no place in this.

Your answers to her are classy.  But, she will never understand what anyone says.  When people feel bad and/or insecure about themselves and the decisions they have made in their lives, they can only resort to attacking others.  Casting such a broad net of hate over women will not help her, though.  And, I will never understand what people like her think publicly denigrating women accomplishes.  But, I’m still trying to figure out what good Juan Williams comments could possibly have accomplished!

Try, as he does, Juan just can’t hide his penchant for class warfare. I was surprised  to his remarks about Christie’s speech, but shocked about what he said about Ann Romney’s. It was incredibly biased and ignorant. He tries to pawn himself off as a moderate democrat, but he just isn’t capable of carrying off that ruse anymore. Like many others, I have given him a wide berth with his commentary, even though I disagree with most of it. But he just can’t help himself when  he spews out thinly veiled class warfare remarks like he did about Ann Romney. Juan Williams:
Regarding your take on the Ann Romney speech.  I am done listening without comment to your petty and ignorant villifications.

Have you not listened to Thomas Sowell, Allen West, Mia Love, Artur Davis or Condi Rice?  Or do you sympathize with The New Black Panthers and Occupy, like Eric Holder and Barak Obama?

Have you not noticed doubled gas prices, more expensive food, and the steep decline of your own asset values?  Know anybody still looking for work? Have you failed to observe the overt corruption in DC, hiding behind cries of “racism” and class-warfare propaganda?

Sir, I find your train of logic downright disturbing, and wholly unamerican. Diveristy of thought and opinion is one of our highest principles, and it is the very foundation our freedom rests upon. Our founding fathers were not mindless automatons all followin the same opinion, they were diverse in their beliefs and ideas. I also disagree with idea that this was a cheap shot or an unfair representation, as someone who comes from a lower middle class family AND has lost a grandfather to cancer, is caring for a grandmother with cancer, and has a cousin suffering from MS. I find the idea that Ann Romney understands the struggles of my family insulting. To say that she knows the pain of not knowing how to cover the mounting medical bills for their care but still somehow squeezing blood out of stones, the incredible stress and strain of working a full time job of actual hard work then coming home to put in another shift seeing that they are as comfortable possible is just insincere. I will make this promise though, I wont ask the Romneys to apologise for their sucess but they do not get to lie to my face and say they know my family’s struggle or that of the average american.

  • Anonymous

Considering Juan Williams view on the Obama’s, I’m not surprised that a woman like Ann Romney, who stands for traditional family values and who stated publicly her pride in America, rather than how disappointed she was in America, would fall under Mr. Williams’ misguided intellect. I have watched repeatedly as Mr. Williams has sought to support President Obama and his failed economic polices and attempts to destroy the American dream, American exceptionalism, American ingenuity, and  American generosity, all of which is made possible by the capitalistic economy that rewards successes and weeds out failures. It always seems like he parrots the Obama’s inane idea that It’s all somebody else’s fault (i.e. George Bush). How can he support a President who believes that those successes of the American Free enterprise system were because of government? Could it possibly be because of both being of the same race? Surely not.

From Mr. Williams’ attack it seems like his is a war on women, at least those who have basic traditional family values of marriage being between a man and a woman, two parent homes, church attendance, Ann Romney is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother who has been there for her husband as much, if not more than, Romney has been there for her. Would that more of the families in America had the stability that Mitt Romney’s family share. Ann Romney’s life may not be as much being a “corporate wife” as being a strong woman of faith who is loved and supported by her family. I really believe Mr. Williams owes her and her family an apology for his remarks, but I will not hold my breath until he gives it.

History records many of the accomplishments  of America  were made by less than honorable men, but it has been the honorable men who have created lasting results. America stands on its successes, but Mr. Obama and those who support him want to destroy those successes and weaken America’s footprint on the world and world history. Whenever the world is hurting, who do they call? It’s certainly not most of the other wealthy nations of the world. It is America. God founded America to be a blessing to the rest of the world, but the rest of the world will never think it is enough, Just like many citizens of this great nation, they will always have their hand out, never being satisfied to contribute, only to get everything they can.

Juan sounds just like a typical envious Liberal.  What is so wrong about being a supportive wife whose husband doted on her as much as she did on him?!  And what about stingy a** John Kerry who married into money?!  Does Juan think he’s a “kept man” because he lived off the money his wife had until he did something w/his life?!

OMGosh…no one has trained me to think, James.  Juan didn’t just disparage Ann Romney.  He slapped every working woman in the face with that comment and THAT is what I took offense to.

And don’t tell me that Ann Romney hasn’t worked a day in her life.  In addition to raising five well-respected sons, she has battled breast cancer, and is currently battling MS.  If the latter two isn’t considered a full-time, life ending career, than YOU are a tyical “myopic” Liberal.

I have yet to find one Liberal media source that I can trust to tell the truth. However, I have several Conservative sources that are dependable, but I still have to be careful.

I”m not sure why you think Juan “sounds envous”. Simply bc you don’t agree with his comments, does not mean you have to disparage him. And if you go back and try and read any of my posts, I NEVER SAID ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT ANN NOR MITT. I never said that RAISING CHILDREN AND BATTLING A DISEASE WAS NOT HARD WORK. So for you to even bring that up, and imply something negative about me, is kind of strange. But anyway. For the sake of clarity, I do think that the hardships of motherhood and battling disease are evidence that YES, Ann has not had an easy work free life. HOWEVER, just bc I can acknolwedge that about her, does mean that TO ME, she comes off as having shared the same experiences as poor and working class women, which is to say AVG. women. NOw, does that mean, that I think that poor and working class women are better than her, NO. Do I think that Ann is better than them, bc of her unique experiences, NO. My point is not say that she is a horrible person for not being able to relate to thsese women, but rather just to point out that there are differences in her story and those of other women. WHy is this such a big deal? BECK and his two co hosts a couple of months ago, were making fun of Romney, mocking him bc he eats caviar and has a butler,, etc. OF course they were just having fun. and making jokes, for the sake of making jokes. But they were doing so, bc that is part of the built in narrative of the ROmneys. They are ARISTOCRATS, and by and large have been so all their lives. Again, I am not hating on them for this, GOOD FOR THEM. I have no problem with it. But just bc I don’t have a problem with it, does not mean that I can’t point it out, and say that as a result of their unique circumstances, the Romney’s have lived a more comfortable life, even dating back to their childhood and youth.

Juan is your wife a corporate wife?  Or do you not take care of her?

We have to petition for Juan William to be fired by Fox.  He’s not being objective anymore, just a stooge for the Democrats and Obama, and he doesn’t give the balancing opinion from the left but just a propagandist.  This reduces the credibility of Fox news having substantive discussion.  He is just like Alan Colmes who tends to talk over people he disagrees with and as a result, every time he is on, Fox loses the audience because he is just being annoying rather than being an intelligent debater.  Juan is going fast that path.

I was disgusted with Juan’s comment. He obviously didn’t hear a word of her speech. Brit Hume said it was the best speech he’d ever heard from a potential first lady. It was a fantastic speech with so much truth and heart! We are praying that she is soon living in the WH.

Bless your heart. Your right, being poor in the 70′s would be comparable to an average lifestyle in the 40′s and fiftys. My grandmother is 96 now she can tell some horror stories.

windtalker, thank you for your kind words.  Your Gran has certainly

seen a lot of changes around her in her 96 years.  Bless her heart, too.

I don’t see Juan the same anymore, do you ?

My mother has MS and 7 children (ages 32 to 7) and money does provide one fundamental difference… the comfort of which you are in to ensure proper healthcare.  If you are dealing with a serious health issue like MS or breast cancer not having to worry about money, insurance, and being able to buy your 500 dollar a month medications does make things easier.  Health struggles, while hard, do not affect a person the same way monetary struggles do (take this from a woman who has survived cervical cancer and has been a single working mother of two since I was 18).  I am not trying to discount Ann Romney’s strength when it comes to these health issues but I do know what it is like looking at cancer in the face and realizing that it could actually come down to treatment or food!
