Stand up for the real meaning of Christmas

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

We all know about the war on Christmas. It’s been going on probably since the beginning of Christmas. Up until now we’ve treated the Christmas haters as harmless, lost souls who need help. But is it time to start taking them seriously?  Glenn thinks so.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

There was an article on Yahoo and TheBlaze today, of a officer in NYC giving a pair of winter boots to a homeless man…that kind of generosity is the true spirit of Christ and Christmas.

The atheists and anti-Christian movement is about one thing only: establishing of a secular faith of Humanism, in which logic governs over all, as it was after the French Revolution, where the rights of the mass took place of the rights of the individual.

Know well the bloodbath that followed called “The Terrors.’

    History repeats itself yet again.

  • corey williams

They don’t want a secular face they just don’t want christian pushed in threre face all the time.

Penn Jillette is one of the most prominent atheists and is a libertarian.

Maybe they should try being reasonable and respectful about it instead of intolerant fascist. It’s the way they are trying to completely remove religion from the public that annoys people. Most Atheist can tolerate christen displays because they respect the rights and views of others (I would love to know how public displays of religion hurts them.) Its only a small VERY militant group of atheist doing this crap, They are like spoiled children stomping the other kids toy’s because they broke their own.
I would have no problem with an Athiest putting up a winter solstice display, but Instead of promoting their holiday they take every public display they can get to attack Christianity. What these militant Atheist are doing IS HATE SPEECH. If they attacked Jews or Muslims the way they did Christians they would be thrown in jail for a hate crime.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jw-Appling/100001282155183 J.w. Appling

He is also respectful of other people beliefs.

Radical atheists are disrespectful and dishonest.  This is America, folks.  Get over your ridiculous obsession with those of us who do believe in God.  Live and let live.

  • Anonymous

    Great reply J.W.
When do Christians push religion in peoples’ face?  They might ask if you Jesus as your Lord and Savior and if you don’t want to hear about it they will leave you alone.  They will not push the point.  Just like Jesus.  If you want to choose to spend eternity in Hell that is your choice.  Jesus will not force you to go the heaven for all eternity.

  • Anonymous

    Aprilsunshine,
Don’t have an obsession with atheists but am commanded by Jesus Christ to make disciples. Will share the gosple if they want to hear, if not then I will go about my business and try and share with someone who wants to spend eternity in heaven.

We need to start challenging them instead of cowering and rolling over when they start up with their anti-Christian rhetoric.  THEY are violating OUR Constitutional rights

and he is ardently in favor of no religion in government.  He crosses out god on any currency he has.

  • Anonymous

government can’t promote religion.  that is the main point.  The problem isn’t with the displays but with where they are.  Atheists, a little pretentious to think I can speak for an entire group but for the sake of argument, don’t want to put up a display they don’t want any displays.

  • Anonymous

to have government promote a religion?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jw-Appling/100001282155183 J.w. Appling

And how is the government promoting a religion? How about some facts to back up that statement.

    corn.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jw-Appling/100001282155183 J.w. Appling

Thats exactly my point they are the children who broke their own toys so nobody else should have any. How is a display hurting them????
Just because they are unhappy people who have nothing to celebrate don’t give them the right to take away others celebration.
I’m only talking about the jerks who want to tear everything down. Why can’t these people just learn to live and let live.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jw-Appling/100001282155183 J.w. Appling

It’s his choice to do that but you will never see him force somebody else to do that. You can completely disagree with somebody and still respect their right to their beliefs and have a civil discourse.

When my boys were younger, their idea was that since Jesus is the birthday boy at Christmas time, we would give Him gifts. When $$ was tight (often, since we were a one income family) our gifts to Jesus were behavior related. We behaved the way He would want us to behave. When $$ wasn’t tight, we still gave Jesus good behavior, but we also donated gifts to the needed. These were $$, toys, clothing, etc.
These boys are in their 20′s and continue the tradition

In a blink of an eye you can lose a loved one , In a blink of an eye a loved one can lose you, In blink of an eye our children are grown , In the blink of an eye an eye can be closed to not see that if we opened our eye’s just by that glance we could be friend’s and just maybe we could  change the world for the better.
People there has to be something better than in the middle this is going to be Christian,Atheists,Muslim, and every belief WILL need each other and if we all can’t figure that out and stop then no wonder the world feel’s so screwed up at this time!
And if this is offensive to you well I can’t back off on this one
Merry CHRISTmas it’s just who I’AM is to me!

Tis the season of hyped unrealistic expectations. Talk to your kids. Remind them God loves unconditionally, Santa not so much…..Good boys and girls will get presents, bad ones will get nothing. Also, while watching television and being assaulted by the ads for the ‘junk’ marketed toward the young minds, begin to teach your children critical thinking. How realistic is the ad?  Are those Furbies really that cute? Or are they kinda weird? Where would you use the item? Does the toy allow for another to play along with you or do they need a toy too?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/GW6ALM3N2YFTOT6TN3GZGAHQG4 Frank Balcer

Glenn is right,  We need to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas.
We need to stand up for it,as well as each others freedom of expression. this is a common ground we all have. We need to keep celebrating & saying Merry Christmas no matter what atheists say or do.

The disease called political correctness is getting worse because people never stood up to it & fought it off much. first it was people getting offended by the words Merry Christmas. now the nativity scenes are under attack because they say you can’t put them up in certain areas.
this is an example of what happens when people don’t stand up to political correctness.

  • Timmi Dobesh

Thank you Glenn for this piece. I definitely needed it after my girls and I put up our Christmas tree and stockings. I was thinking as I was looking at their massive 4ft stockings (Our Santa only puts his gifts in the stockings so they are big for that purpose) wondering how will those be filled this year with even one gift? My husband has been unemployed for almost 6 months and I am working 2 jobs and attempting to go back to school. We are barely getting by, we are not the types of people ask for help we like to do it ourselves but when we did ask for help we were told we make too much money or work too many hours. So we are doing it ourselves while those that get help with their bills, their groceries and their daycare can have extra money for satellite tv, a new car, crap for said new car, put their kids in dance and gymnastics while I can’t even afford preschool and shoes for my kids, because I make too much money and work too many hours and this was before I got a second job. So I know about Christmas and what its about its trying to tell your kids what its about that makes the holidays especially difficult. So thank you Glenn for the reminder

You are right, the officer in New York showed a great example of the Christmas spirit by having charity, the pure love of Christ. He gave no thought of Himself or the cost of the boots,  He only cared about the man’s well being & safety. that is what needs to be taught to our children, to have & show love for each other.
just like the story about the good Samaritan in the Bible.

  • mspatdev

They can’t and won’t. They are the bullies who push and push. We Christians ought to fight for our rights. I’ve tried doing it, but I never had the money for the courts and attorneys. The Atheists ought to go back to where they are from. We still have religious freedom. We don’t want the bullies around us, as they are acting like Hitler.     God Bless this Beautiful Country.

  • Matt Driscoll

Here is you complete fallacy yet again. You assume that the officer was a christian. What id he was Islamic, or a Buddhist, or even a pagan for that matter? Morality is not determined by faith. Morality is determined by the values and morals instilled in you by your parents. I have met plenty of scummy Christians and some very nice moral atheist. I live my life as a moral, law abiding not because some antiquated book threatens me with a lake of fire. I live my life as a good person because I want to be a good person who helps his fellow man. Christianity is not the answer.

  • Anonymous

The real meaning for who? Jesus was born in the spring, not winter. Dec. 25 is a solstice holiday. Also, Christ NEVER asked us to celebrate his birth…it is very pagan to do so.

  • Anonymous

He also showed what is taught by the Buddha, Mohamed, Shiva and most religions of the world…kindness, compassion and selflessness.

  • Anonymous

    Matt…you got it!

  • Matt Driscoll

Aren’t in turn you violating their Constitutional Rights? Constitutional Rights protect the freedoms of all people of all religions, not just Christians.

    In response to the comment:

“The Atheists ought to go back to where they are from. We still have religious freedom. We don’t want the bullies around us, as they are acting like Hitler.”

You just completely contradicted yourself by saying “”The Atheists ought to go back to where they are from. We don’t want the bullies around us, as they are acting like Hitler.” You are a hypocrite. You say you support the Constitution yet cannot accept other religions in this country. “Atheist ought to go back to where they are from?” Where are atheist from?? Atheist are normal everyday people with morals and ethics just like you. I do not adhere to any particular religion and yet I somehow manage to be a law abiding citizen. I have no compulsion to kill, steal, rape, or cheat and there are many, many atheist out there who are the same. Just as there are many unmoral Christians out there, there are also unmoral atheist, unmoral Muslims, unmoral Jews. Like I said above, religion does not define your morality.

What you display on your property is totally your business, we just don’t want it on property paid for by “the people”, the taxpayer, or the Knights of Columbus, Methodists etc.. I don’t want a menorah on the my cities town hall lawn, nor do I want a Wiccan solstice display or a Buddhist statue or a Cross or a hammer and sickle. Just an American Flag is all I want to see. I can look at YOUR lawn and enjoy your display if I need a Christian fix or look at my neighbor Sanya who has a east, west, north, south thing in her lawn. On government property… NO religious symbols…I don’t care what the founding fathers did…especially since they wouldn’t let the founding mothers vote!

    Scout…you don’t know my relatives.

  • Matt Driscoll

    Perfect!

  • Matt Driscoll

Also I just wanted to add. Those of you that believe that Christmas is a “Christian” holiday are completely misguided. Every Christmas tradition, and I literally mean every, is derived from some sort of pagan ritual. Sorry but it is true. From the Christmas tree, to mistletoe, to caroling, to Yule logs, and even gingerbread men, are all derived fomr pagan traditions. The only reason that they are used today in association with what we now know as Christmas is because the Christian rulers at the time thought it would be much easier to convert the pagans if Christianity adopted some of their rituals and use them as their own. Jesus was born sometime in the spring/summer. If you doubt anything I am saying please look it up. Also the exact same thing goes with Easter. It is no coincidence that there is a pagan goddess named Eostre.

  • Matt Driscoll

Just to note: I love Christmas. It is my absolute favorite holiday, but not for the religious aspect. I love the togetherness and Christmas spirit aspect of it.

  • Anonymous

Funny, But you wouldn’t know it in California; The stores have been packed since Thanksgiving. A state where the debt is higher than all IQ’s combined. I have not put up a tree in a few years and Glenn is right……the marketing of Christmas has gotten out of hand.

At one time, I wouldn’t hesitate to give when I came across a homeless person because I truly believed they were in need. I no longer do that; I give to those I know truly are in need. I almost responded to someone in an UN-Christian way….I almost told someone to call upon their messiah Barry instead, but caught myself and walked on. Through no fault of their own perhaps, many find themselves in dire straits and blame others for the misfortune. If they were true to themselves, they would realize that somewhere along the way, They were indeed responsible for their own demise!

A government that is big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take away everything you have. Remember that every time you vote for a liberal.

  • Anonymous

How very sad for you that you experience togetherness only once a year. Yes, I can see why you would look forward to Christmas…..for someone in your position.

  • Anonymous

How do you know that he was Christian? Or that he wasn’t an atheists? Maybe he was just a kind person. The Spirit of Christmas; good will, peace to others, charity…; can be shared by people of any faith or political slant. Logic tells me that caring about others is a good thing, a necessary thing and I could care less whether people like you need Christmas to identify these values.

  • Matt Driscoll

Figures, no constructive comment. Just meaness and arbitrary assumptions about someone you only know through the internet. I am extremely close with my family so your comment is way off base. Sorry friend.

The God-designed Temple as spiritually-imparted and shared with humankind will play a vital role in bringing rebellious souls into conformity with the Messiah – Lord Jesus Christ.
Burning flames lit by Persian degenerates in Syria will be sent against children of God in Israel to do great destruction in the time foreseen by Ezekiel. An errant missile will mistakenly strike the Dome of The Rock – and Jews will then erect the prophetic “Third Temple.”
“Time” as understood by keepers of history since the birth of Lord Jesus Christ is not reliable when contemplating unfolding events foretold by prophets in Holy Writings.
“Time” from beginning to end as recorded by the Holy Father is a “measurement of change” rather than movements of universal bodies or earthly mechanisms. Therefore, let the wise among you understand the “catching away” of loyal souls, the “tribulation” or the building of a “Temple” without assuming mathematical calculations or earthly calendars can be used to pinpoint the day or hour.

This country was founded by people who came here to get away from being persecuted for their religions beliefs whatever they were and in this country was founded on “IN GOD WE TRUST”.   Yes there is a separation of church and state and that separation is that government could not persecute people for their regilious beliefs whether it be christian, baptist, jewish, or atheist.  But I have a right to display my beliefts on any federal or state property in this country as my tax dollars as well other American’s tax dollars paid for those buildings, just as any other religious order has that same right, including atheists.  If you chose not to participate in the celebration of Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day Thanksgiving that is your choice but you do not have the right to trample other people’s right to celebrate.  That is call FREEDOM!

Matt let me straighten out one misconception you have about Christians, we do not do good deeds because we fear being cast into a Lake of Fire.  We could do good deeds all day long and that would not prevent us from going to Hell.  The only thing that keeps a Christian from going to Hell is that he or she has to believe that God sent his only son to die on the Cross for our sins.  Matt you and every person on this earth sin every day some worse than others and no matter how many good deeds you do to try and make up for those sins, it will not get you into the kingdom of Heaven.  I have made my choice in life and I have no idea what you think happens to you when you die and honestly I don’t care, but I do give you your space and I
do not trample on your right to believe the way you do and I as well as millions of other people who have reglious beliefs deserve the same respect.

In this season dominated by degenerates who have risen to the top of our American culture, “Christ” has been replaced by “cash” for merchants who would rather honor “Santa” than “salvation” for rebellious souls. Though the “JIGROP” message has fallen on deaf ears in recent decades, and the warning to “repent or perish” as explained in “John 3:16” is no longer worthy of serious consideration by “politically correct” infidels, colorful lights will continue shining even though Christ has been removed from Christmas in marketplaces around the public square. Now that “Halloween trick or treat witches” and “Thanksgiving turkeys” are history, try to have a “happy holiday” as you dance around your “holiday tree” – and don’t forget to celebrate at the stroke of midnight on “New Year’s Eve.” In case you are wondering, the new year of “2013” will bring all kinds of surprises for 99.9% of the inhabitants who have their heads buried in the sands of “disbelief” here on Planet Earth. “THE MESSAGE for THE WORLD” has been ignored because carnally-minded people doubt the authenticity of a “Spirit God” and His ability to impart “Spirit Words” into the consciousness of fleshly prophets. Does anyone know a preacher, priest, rabbi, psychologist, professor, journalist, scientist or an uneducated, but honest scholar who can intelligently explain the meanings of words and symbolism found on this message board site?   http://gccn2011.yuku.com/directory

I don’t “hate Christmas”.  My family celebrates another holiday, not of the Christian religion.  I respect Christians and their right to worship and celebrate Christmas.  I’m simply asking for the same respect for my religion.  BTW our family are hardcore patriotic American conservatives.
