There was an article on Yahoo and TheBlaze today, of a officer in NYC giving a pair of winter boots to a homeless man…that kind of generosity is the true spirit of Christ and Christmas.

 I would have no problem with an Athiest putting up a winter solstice display, but Instead of promoting their holiday they take every public display they can get to attack Christianity. What these militant Atheist are doing IS HATE SPEECH. If they attacked Jews or Muslims the way they did Christians they would be thrown in jail for a hate crime.

When do Christians push religion in peoples’ face?  They might ask if you Jesus as your Lord and Savior and if you don’t want to hear about it they will leave you alone.  They will not push the point.  Just like Jesus.  If you want to choose to spend eternity in Hell that is your choice.  Jesus will not force you to go the heaven for all eternity.

When my boys were younger, their idea was that since Jesus is the birthday boy at Christmas time, we would give Him gifts. When $$ was tight (often, since we were a one income family) our gifts to Jesus were behavior related. We behaved the way He would want us to behave. When $$ wasn’t tight, we still gave Jesus good behavior, but we also donated gifts to the needed. These were $$, toys, clothing, etc.
These boys are in their 20′s and continue the tradition

Tis the season of hyped unrealistic expectations. Talk to your kids. Remind them God loves unconditionally, Santa not so much…..Good boys and girls will get presents, bad ones will get nothing. Also, while watching television and being assaulted by the ads for the ‘junk’ marketed toward the young minds, begin to teach your children critical thinking. How realistic is the ad?  Are those Furbies really that cute? Or are they kinda weird? Where would you use the item? Does the toy allow for another to play along with you or do they need a toy too?

Glenn is right,  We need to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas.
We need to stand up for it,as well as each others freedom of expression. this is a common ground we all have. We need to keep celebrating & saying Merry Christmas no matter what atheists say or do.

The disease called political correctness is getting worse because people never stood up to it & fought it off much. first it was people getting offended by the words Merry Christmas. now the nativity scenes are under attack because they say you can’t put them up in certain areas.

Thank you Glenn for this piece. I definitely needed it after my girls and I put up our Christmas tree and stockings. I was thinking as I was looking at their massive 4ft stockings (Our Santa only puts his gifts in the stockings so they are big for that purpose) wondering how will those be filled this year with even one gift? My husband has been unemployed for almost 6 months and I am working 2 jobs and attempting to go back to school. We are barely getting by, we are not the types of people ask for help we like to do it ourselves but when we did ask for help we were told we make too much money or work too many hours. So we are doing it ourselves while those that get help with their bills, their groceries and their daycare can have extra money for satellite tv, a new car, crap for said new car, put their kids in dance and gymnastics while I can’t even afford preschool and shoes for my kids, because I make too much money and work too many hours and this was before I got a second job. So I know about Christmas and what its about its trying to tell your kids what its about that makes the holidays especially difficult. So thank you Glenn for the reminder

 You are right, the officer in New York showed a great example of the Christmas spirit by having charity, the pure love of Christ. He gave no thought of Himself or the cost of the boots,  He only cared about the man’s well being & safety. that is what needs to be taught to our children, to have & show love for each other.

Here is you complete fallacy yet again. You assume that the officer was a christian. What id he was Islamic, or a Buddhist, or even a pagan for that matter? Morality is not determined by faith. Morality is determined by the values and morals instilled in you by your parents. I have met plenty of scummy Christians and some very nice moral atheist. I live my life as a moral, law abiding not because some antiquated book threatens me with a lake of fire. I live my life as a good person because I want to be a good person who helps his fellow man. Christianity is not the answer. 

The real meaning for who? Jesus was born in the spring, not winter. Dec. 25 is a solstice holiday. Also, Christ NEVER asked us to celebrate his birth…it is very pagan to do so.

He also showed what is taught by the Buddha, Mohamed, Shiva and most religions of the world…kindness, compassion and selflessness.

I have no compulsion to kill, steal, rape, or cheat and there are many, many atheist out there who are the same. Also I just wanted to add. Those of you that believe that Christmas is a “Christian” holiday are completely misguided. Every Christmas tradition, and I literally mean every, is derived from some sort of pagan ritual. Sorry but it is true. From the Christmas tree, to mistletoe, to caroling, to Yule logs, and even gingerbread men, are all derived fomr pagan traditions. The only reason that they are used today in association with what we now know as Christmas is because the Christian rulers at the time thought it would be much easier to convert the pagans if Christianity adopted some of their rituals and use them as their own. Jesus was born sometime in the spring/summer. If you doubt anything I am saying please look it up. Also the exact same thing goes with Easter. It is no coincidence that there is a pagan goddess named Eostre.

Just to note: I love Christmas. It is my absolute favorite holiday, but not for the religious aspect. I love the togetherness and Christmas spirit aspect of it.

Funny, But you wouldn’t know it in California; The stores have been packed since Thanksgiving. A state where the debt is higher than all IQ’s combined. I have not put up a tree in a few years and Glenn is right……the marketing of Christmas has gotten out of hand.

At one time, I wouldn’t hesitate to give when I came across a homeless person because I truly believed they were in need. I no longer do that; I give to those I know truly are in need. I almost responded to someone in an UN-Christian way….I almost told someone to call upon their messiah Barry instead, but caught myself and walked on. Through no fault of their own perhaps, many find themselves in dire straits and blame others for the misfortune. If they were true to themselves, they would realize that somewhere along the way, They were indeed responsible for their own demise!

How do you know that he was Christian? Or that he wasn’t an atheists? Maybe he was just a kind person. The Spirit of Christmas; good will, peace to others, charity…; can be shared by people of any faith or political slant. I don’t “hate Christmas”.  My family celebrates another holiday, not of the Christian religion.  I respect Christians and their right to worship and celebrate Christmas.  I’m simply asking for the same respect for my religion.  BTW our family are hardcore patriotic American conservatives.
