Glenn’s Coma Hot Chocolate

5 pints of LIGHT CREAM or 1/2 & 1/2.
12 Hershey candy bars.

Slowly heat cream on stove, break candy bars in small pieces and slowly add to warm cream. Stir until melted candy is fully mixed.

Serve ASAP and try not to go into a coma.



Grandma Janssens’ Sugar Cookies

1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup sweet milk
2 level tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 level tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp butter flavoring
4 1/2 cups flour and a little more for rolling

Roll out 1/8 inch thick. Cut and bake. You can mix these and let stand in refrigerator several hours or even over night.

Then mix everything together, or at least everything but the flour, and then add the flour and bake at 350 degrees. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.


Glenn’s Butternut Squash Soup

4 butternut squashes – is that a word?
2 cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon
2 large cans chicken broth
2 pints heavy cream

Peel and cut squash into cubes and add to chicken broth in large sauce pan. Add cinnamon sticks and bring to a boil. Let boil until squash is soft. Put squash in blender with just enough chicken broth to blend. Blend all squash and return to second sauce pan to add cream. Season with salt, pepper and ground cinnamon. Makes about 8-10 cups.
