Because every time a African American fights for justice and equality and respect in face of such unbecoming legacy it is spun by Beck as a radical progressive racist leftist un-American blah blah blah… that is, he wants to conserve an un-existing ideal, to go back to something we never were. These guys are so wrong in their interpretation of Fiasco’s words. If you listen to the entire song, you’ll hear that what he means is that people (media, mostly) are quick to label Rush & Beck as racists because they criticize Obama, even though those criticisms are warranted. Basically, he’s siding with Rush and Beck and is almost asking people to listen to what they have to say and not just dismiss them as racists.

So I guess Slavery was okay then since it was Africans who sold other Africans to Europeans? (not just the Spanish) After all the “white man” didn’t have to purchase them, they could have refused. And also members of the same tribe or clan never sold their own into slavery, it was usually someone from a different Kingdom, tribe, or clan captured during war and enslaved. Hence most slaves that came to the New World were prisoners of war or already enslaved in Africa. At the time Africans did not see it as selling their own into slavery, these were people of a different Kingdom, tribe, or clan with different language, culture, and customs. Similiar to the English, Spanish, French, Germans etc. Yes they are all Europeans but different language and culture. There is no excuse for slavery, it was wrong in Africa, it was wrong in Europe, and it was wrong in America. I’m getting tired of the whole “blame the Africans that sold other Africans for Slavery in America” thing.
