How is Calvin Coolidge relevant today?

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Tonight on the Glenn Beck Program, Glenn focused on a often overlooked figure in American history: President Calvin Coolidge. In the clip above, Glenn focuses his monologue on comparing the problems facing America today with the same problems that Coolidge faced when he came into office in the 1920s. What can we learn from “Silent Cal” when it comes to solving the seemingly overwhelming problems facing America today?

And below, Glenn speaks with author Amity Shlaes about the role Coolidge played in American history and American economic policy.

There is a difference today than with Coolidge’s day: The Progressives have accelerated their wave of control and devastation.

Listen and listen well you should. I fear SnowLeopard is delving deeper and deeper into madness. I fear his lack of actual human contact is pushing his lonliness and isolation to near tragic levels. His lack of actual friendship drives his bitterness and hatred. In short, if SnowLeopard doesn’t get laid soon we may all have to suffer his mindless, babbling, paranoid rants all the more.

Once again you have demonstrated the raging hate and insanity which has all but consumed you. Understand clearly, as your self-loathing becomes ever more focused on me the first viable threat you make will be turned over to the authorities.

  • landofaahs

We have too many slugs.  The crash is coming one way or the other.  The only thing not certain is who picks up the pieces.  I say keep the pieces separate whenever it happens.  Never give a liberal a chance to worm into your remote area, like a parasite they will not sucking until all life is gone.

  • Matt Driscoll

Haha self-loathing?? My life is great. I have a good job, a solid social circle, hobbies other than making creepy cat-people drawings. Whats not to love? You on the other hand have made it clear you are a dangerous, fringe, loner. Do you know who else was a loner? Virtually every serial killer and mass murder in existance. John Wayne Gacy made some creepy art too. I’m just saying. By the way we both got the same amount of likes. Thats awesome.

  • Matt Driscoll

P.S. Here is a threat. If I ever and I mean ever see you I am going to give you the biggest…HUG…you have ever received. I think that is what you need the most. Just a nice hug. I know you are hurting inside.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

No kidding, that Matt Driscolli fellow who keeps hounding me is now comparing me to a mass murder.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Somehow the constant insults and driving obsession with hounding of people here, especially me, shows you are a liar and a fraud. Get help while you can, and try to avoid becoming the mass murderer you are saying I will become with your references to John Wayne Gacy.

Again I say this up front – I now consider you a viable threat, cross the line and I will contact the authorities. This is the last warning I will give you.

Silent Cal understood business cycles and that they were needed for the market to correct itself.  The more of these we have, the more the bad decisions are dealt with.  If we keep propping up the bad market, we make things worse in the end.  Down cycles tend to punish badly the people who aquired too much debt and made bad decisions.  But just like society today, we don’t hold the irresponsible people accountable.
Let the pain come and clean out the system is not the way communist dick taters want to operate because over time the market teaches by force, discipline which leads to self reliance.  Can’t have that though because that would make it harder for liberals to steal by collecting taxes into the govt trough where they can dip their grubby hands into.

  • landofaahs

I think he’s a has been eastern mayor or a Q from the west coast. But I’m sure he’s a LSOS liberal. He’s hounding you because he wants you to shut up. So post twice as much and always laugh at his stupidity. Of course he has admitted to being an atheist. That says everything you really need to know.

  • Matt Driscoll

I am comparing your art to that of a serial killer. I am comparing your lifestyle to that of a serial killer. I am comaring your isolation to a serial killer. I am comparing your paranoia to that of a serial killer. You are a weird dude and the public should be made aware.

Let compare you to Chris Dorner. The only deference I see is that you didn’t kill anyone yet but seeing how you are one unstable human being I can see you doing so in the next month or two.

  • http://youtu.be/R7MC2wu49Cw Sam Fisher

He is of the left when they can’t win a debate they name call. It is really very sad.

  • http://youtu.be/R7MC2wu49Cw Sam Fisher

I think you got stocker. I wonder what his unhealthy fixation
    with you is?

  • http://youtu.be/R7MC2wu49Cw Sam Fisher

First of all I want that car. Second people need to study history I didn’t know nothing about Coolidge until I watched Glenn’s show. He is proof that small government works and works well. Progressivism put us into this mess and the liberal tank just keeps rolling on until it crushes every freedom in its path. It is time to stand in front of the tank and stand strong. Even if it means our deaths because that is where power grabs end the murder of millions.

  • Draxx

Plus, they have Indoctrinated Our Children into Progressivism and Socialism (look at critten for example), which has grown their base of power as they get old enough to vote…

I am so glad my 11 yr old daughter thinks that Obummer is the Absolute Worst President EVER!!!  At least she has a chance to be an American the way we are/were supposed to be, a good thinker, good morals, helpful & friendly to most everyone, self-conscious of her actions, she is a leader amongst her friends, believes that Church/Religion makes us better people, and so on…

  • Draxx

Matt you sure Know A Lot About Being A Serial Killer… hmmm, I wonder who is really the riskier one for the general public?  Hint: Matt Driscoll (who would sell his own mother into slavery for his Progressive/Socialist Agenda).

It should be noted Harding increased tariffs… twice! Coolidge also increased the estate tax and created a gift tax. In addition, Indians were given citizenship and thus became taxpayers. Most of the debt and spending under Wilson during the latter end of his term came from the war, which was over in 1918 he just failed to really do anything about it. Coolidge had controlled spending, however federal spending though balanced was higher than it was under TR and Taft.
Yes, Hoover was indeed a Progressive, no argument about it and did support TR in 1912. But in practice he was more like Taft than TR in his Republican Progressivism. And yes he raised taxes, but it turns out they needed it because under the depression federal revenue had shrunk.
Let’s not forget this was a different time, in the 20′s we produced more, unlike today where America makes cars and… that’s about it, everything else got shipped to China.

Market over 14,000, just made a killing in bio-tech stocks. Gold down 10% last two months,  not seeing any crash anytime soon.

  • landofaahs

14,000 on very low volume. Credit card debt up. Gasoline up. Less cash due to increase in payroll tax. CEO’s selling company stock. U.S debt up. Spainish banks bankrupt. Euro auto sales down and in France more than 15%. I could go on for hours, but I doubt you saw the 2007,2008 crash either. Buy more stock you idiot. LOL

  • landofaahs

By the way. I’m waiting for gold and silver to drop to $800 and $17 respectively so I can buy more. I just wish Saphires and Rubies would fall in price too.
