Is Common Core the gateway to parents losing their rights?

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Common Core is the nationwide school standards being jammed down America’s throat whether we want it or not. Some people are beginning to take a stand – will it be enough? Or will those bent on fundamentally transforming America’s education system not be stopped? Glenn had the latest news out of New York State today on the radio program.

Is this the gateway to parental rights being seized by the government?

    Absolutely.

The Progressives and Democratic Socialists regard a child as the property of the collective and hence the property of the State. Realize how they use the word ‘Property’ which implies final ownership – i.e. children are objects and slaves.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Translation of the Collective – slavery under a oppressive government.

In this case, yes the parental rights will be stripped away, the Federal government has to have the means to intimidate and coerce people by fear and force to comply with the collective.

How dare we try to teach our children! Parents have the right to keep their kids ignorant and lie to them! Who cares if Americana kids are uneducated idiots! That’s a parents right.

Lol. Again, you people are more concerned with an unborn clump of cells than actual children. We’re falling behind in a global economy, and kids have the right to a real education. Basic standards are common sense. You don’t have the right to keep your children stupid.

  • Anonymous

Education is slavery? That’s some Orwellian bullshit.

  • Anonymous

As a progressive, I can tell you you’re wrong. Not that you care about the truth…

  • Anonymous

It appears you are a product of the public school system.  If not, the collective has obviously excised a piece of your frontal lobe.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=84108137 Emmett Garcia

We do care about the truth, it’s progressives such as yourself that like to bend the truth to fit your needs.

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

Once again the manipulation of the Progressives is made manifest in your posts. You are either a troll, a low-information agent or a rabble rouser; you only care for the collective and indoctrination of the children,

What matters to us is the freedom of parents having the choice of how their children are educated – public or private – and not that of indoctrination of Communists.

    Knownothing is just ignorant.

You can make shit up about me all day long, but the fact is that you don’t know shit about me, and your pathetic resorting to personal attacks shows you don’t know shit about anything.

Teach your kids whatever the fuck you want. No one is stopping you, dumbfuck.

  • Anonymous

More personal attacks from some asshole loser who can’t come up with anything substantive to say. Lol.

  • Anonymous

Once again you trot out a lame, useless, personal attack instead of coming up with anything substantive. Fucking idiot.

  • Anonymous

Great. Then in that case, maybe stop with the silly generalizations. There are people on both sides that lie and some that are truthful.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kathy.mckelvey.9 Kathy Scheid McKelvey

I homeschooled so I wouldn’t have to argue the lies from govt schools.  My kids graduate with straight A’s from any school they attend–while they tutor the govt-educated kids.  I did not keep my children ignorant!!  My standards are higher than the govt.

  • greywolfrs

Well,  I see the first ignorant graduate of Common Core is back.

  • greywolfrs

What’s the matter, you sound mad, did you not get your daily dose from Obamao’s blue-veined yogurt dispenser?

  • Anonymous

    Dude, be reasonable.

You know perfectly well education is not slavery.
    But who controls that education?
    That’s what we’re talking about.

If you can’t see when the control of education has been taken over by those whose ultimate goal is to bring about a progressive world order, and furthermore, bring yourself to stand up to them, then, yes, you have about as much freedom as a slave.

  • greywolfrs

How would you know, you are so ignorant, you dont know the difference between your asshole and hole in the ground.

  • greywolfrs

Reasonable? You do realize you are talking to one of those progressive morons, right?

  • greywolfrs

Yeah, we need this crap like we need a hole in our heads. Common Core is just a bunch of B S. Look at knowsnothing, the first graduate, he is dumber than a bag of hammers and makes about as much sense.

  • Anonymous

     Talking to yourself again.

  • Anonymous

If you can do that, great. But it’s not an option for everyone. Some families can’t afford to have one parent stay at home, and most people aren’t teachers. If you are qualified to teach all subjects through high school, great.
If your kids are homeschooled, then what school are they graduating from with straight A’s? You mean college? If so, that’s great.
I do fear for most of the home schooled kids, especially the ones being taught that evolution isn’t real or the bible is history or the Earth is only 5000 years old, or other such nonsense.

  • Anonymous

You are the dumbest poster I have ever come across. The common core standards are just being implemented. No one has graduated with them yet.

  • Anonymous

And you don’t think that sounds a TAD paranoid? Education has been “taken over” by a group with an “ultimate goal” of bringing about a new “world order”? Seriously? Because it sounds quite mad to me. Might be a good plot for a movie, but quite insane in real life.

And what would this “progressive world order” look like? Progressives fight only for progress. Civil rights for all. Free speech, freedom to practice religion, freedom to get an education, freedom to have proper health care, etc. Is that so bad???

And your bottom line is that if I don’t agree with you, I’m as free as a slave? Again, it’s hard to take you seriously. In what ways am I a slave, exactly? How does my opinion on the matter take away some freedom that you still have? Exactly what freedom do you have that I don’t have because I disagree with you about a matter of public policy?

  • Anonymous

What are you, like 8 years old? Go away, the adults are talking, and your momma needs the computer.

Spoken like someone that doesn’t understand Orwell.  You’re thinking of Freedom is Slavery, which is one of the three “party” ideals in 1984.  It states that a free nation is dangerous because the common person is too incompetent to function and be productive on their own, or that they are too lazy and self-centered to do what’s best for the collective.  Thus the people of a free nation become slaves to their own selfishness or the selfishness of others that pollute the system.  The party, in the novel, uses this to justify communism and forcing people to work and do things against their will.  The whole point of the novel is exposing the dangers and horrors of an overly intrusive government.  And let’s not forget, virtually every major fascist or communist government from the Nazis to the Soviets took over the schools first and spread their own propaganda through them and the children.

I think there’s something to be said about our struggling schools, but overall it is difficult to compare us with the rest of the world.  In many other countries not everyone takes the tests since kids are put on different tracks for what kind of or if they get school.
American schools also focus more on critical thinking skills than foreign countries, which given the unpredictability of the future and the economy, critical thinking is the most valuable skill to offer.
I don’t know enough to have an opinion on common core, what I do know is that teachers need to be paid like the valuable professionals they are.  If you get what you pay for, then we’re lucky that our teachers aren’t worse than they are.

this is a nice specific example, but I knew a kid, no idiot though he was immensely annoying, who didn’t receive proper instruction in home school.  He finally enrolled in public school and was a freshman in high school as an 18 year old.

Knowitsome,Respectfully, have you read common core for yourself?  There is so much there that has nothing to do with education.  I have done my own research, a little on the web but mostly in my school district here in Wyoming.  The Math standards are being used in the grade school my son goes to.  I minored in Math.  I can’t help the kids with much but I know math….  The way the math is taught is very strange.  Really it is made much more difficult than it has to be.  I spoke with his teacher and he just shrugged and said that’s the way they have to teach it now.  I asked if he had a problem with me teaching my son the traditional way and he said that was fine by him.  He said a lot of the kids are struggling with it.  If the math standards are any indication of what the other subjects are going to be like, This will not help our kids excel in a very competitive world.  This will put our kids at a distinct disadvantage.  Consider that other countries have rejected this…   Now, very respectfully…. what say you?

I think that teachers should be free to teach different methods as necessary. I have not read common core, but I’m familiar with the current standards, and they are about skills, not methods.

If at all possible remove your children from the public indoctrination centers posing as schools.  We have spent wildly on “education” with little to show for it.  Better to home school, or if you can possibly afford it, send your children to a good private school.  Shut down the public schools, shut down Carter’s useless Department of education and take responsibility for your own children’s education and future.

Your lack of writing skills shows your sad lack of education.  Sorry, but it’s the truth.  Please awaken from your delusion.

Unfortunately knowitsome, your lack of vocabulary is telling.  I see you are the only one posting using inappropriate language.  You evidently lack the proper writing skills to logically debate and thus resort to the lowest common denominator.

When we were raising our kids, we told them if they had to revert to four letter words, it just showed their ignorance of the English Language.

Did you just say Freedom for health care.  Better correct yourself.  We can not keep our healthcare due to the new progressive law and to insult to injury we’re taxed for it.

If you can’t use common decent language,,,please leave this site. Argue with some class. The class that you exhibit now, unfortunatly, is all low.

You should look up Psychological Projection or Freudian Projection, as it is sometimes referred, then look in a mirror. Dunce.

You didn’t build that, and those are not your children either.

Denying that someone is trying to take your rights under law is not paranoia when it is happening. Everytime Congress passes a new law everyone (except congressmen) either loses freedom or money. When was the last time a politician gave more freedom (or money) to the citizens? I think it was about 1971 – when 18 year-olds got the vote.

Children today are taught their “Rights” - not their responsibilities. The work ethic is dying because parents are not allowed to teach their children. Instead they are taught by the liberal education system and the liberal media that they are owed a living, a house, a car, a TV, free medical care, etc. They are shown by example that there is little need to work.

This is a poem written by a graduating senior at my daughters high school-
    By Laura Kuenze

A great artist once said, “Started from the bottom now we here” But he forgot to mention that on our way to the top We’d be force fed equations and quotes that would mean nothing to our future careers You see, I was always taught by teachers and administration that My education would be under consideration …When it came to applying for jobs That would forever be my motivation My stomach turned in a counter clockwise circle As I tried to graph x on the vertical Lines that made no sense to me But were supposedly meant for me So that I could learn how to be a better “problem solver” I coughed up questions because I felt less Than the kid next to me Because he could make sense of the mess The curriculum calls math English though, That’s something I know But because my math and science grades were less than average My mind wasn’t something Teachers believe they should’ve salvaged My grade point average was nothing I was proud of But the way schools work is something I’m sick of To me, everyone is smart According to Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, It will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” So I guess the point is, Simply because a person doesn’t excel in all classes Doesn’t mean they lack the assets To ask anything more than “Do you want fries with that?” Now I’m not saying that Working at a minimum wage job Is a bad thing But the school systems insist On believing that Kids who don’t grow up to become the CEO Don’t deserve the same respect we owe To each other We all have a purpose Which means we have different courses We are strong in We’ve been taught by teachers named Mr. and Miss But it seems we’ve only been misled By the people who supposedly want what’s best For us I think it’s time to get real And realize That our generation Needs to stand up for the nation And teach people that education Shouldn’t feel like segregation We need to believe That we can make the difference And show the world the importance Of demonstrating everyone’s intelligence Every person has their own strengths and Weaknesses But that just means we are all Unique geniuses We shouldn’t be punishing people for not Remembering every preposition or math class function That’s exactly why our world always seems to malfunction We need to start supporting each other And understand sometimes another Person might not think the same way But that’s because we all have different recollections So that we can make connections With people who view the world through a different complexion

We are not falling behind. That is just more liberal propaganda. Tell me how Dr. Ben Carson went to public school, on to Yale University and became the first ever neurosurgeon to separate conjoined twins, EVER in the world if we are so lagging behind?
