Obama’s pick for #2 CIA spot also into hosting erotic book readings

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Over the last couple weeks, stories have emerged about questionable behavior at Hillary Clinton’s State Department, the FBI, the Secret Service, and the CIA to name a few. From sexual escapades to incompetence, there seems to be a troubling culture shift occurring at some of the nation’s top security and intelligence agencies.

“Look at the woman who’s been put in the number two position at the CIA,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “I find this horrifying. This is the president’s choice for the number two spot. She used to host an erotica night at her bookstore.”

TheBlaze reported:

On Wednesday, the CIA announced that Deputy Director Michael Morell would be replaced by White House lawyer Avril Haines. It didn’t take long for media outlets to poke around and find some intriguing elements from Haines’ past. Perhaps the most odd tidbit is the notion that she once read sexy novels aloud at a bookstore she co-owned years ago. These readings would take place on designated “erotica nights.”

“We’ve all been there. Come on. Who’s casting stones here,” Stu joked.

“I usually wait for S&M night,” Pat quipped.

“I know,” Glenn said. “[Haynes] nominated to the number two role of the CIA, worked at the White House, the council’s office, where she approved the covert actions and served as a liaison between the president and the CIA. She owned and operated Adrienne’s Book Cafe at Fell’s Point. She featured erotica nights, including dinner and a series of readings by guests of published works.”

According to The Baltimore Sun, Haynes was candid about the popularity of the sex-themed book reading. At first she wasn’t sold on the idea of hosting erotica readings, but she said she once viewed the themes as pornographic in nature, but after reading some of these stories out loud, her views began to change. “Erotica,” Haynes told the Sun, “has become more prevalent because people are trying to have sex without sex. It offers spontaneity, twists and turns and it affects everyone.”

“The culture has changed. We are fundamentally being transformed,” Glenn said. “If you want to look into history, the worst scenes in American, in global history is always when you… mix the godless alongside with the militant, alongside with the Marxist, alongside with the perverse, you’ve got a bad, bad mixture.”

“You don’t have to believe what I believe, but you are self-disciplined, so you have regulatory control over yourself and not trying to control others,” he continued. “These people want control over others. So when you look at the FBI and you ask when did it happen, well, I would stop trusting pretty much all these people.”

This is a perfect example of why Glenn Beck’s pious blather about being loving toward one’s opponents, speaking with truth and love, etc. is nothing more than another con. By his own admission, Beck is an ex-drug-addict who has participated in vile, nasty, vicious behavior toward others. But he expects us all to overlook his past, and accept him as some now-virtuous reincarnation of MLK…. and then he turns right around and finds something in someone else’s past — which is actually quite tame — and slams her as “horrifying”  and unfit for her post. The hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

Look unto the mirror and see your own hypocrisy.

Sorry, I don’t get your point. What hypocrisy would that be? Thanks.

    • greywolfrs

Actually, if you weren’t such a dolt you would realize that Beck was NOT a drug-addict, he was an alcoholic. Also, theis person has NO experience at being part of the CIA and is now the second in command, yet you don’t seem to have problem with that. The CIA is one of the front line agencies who’s task is to keep us “safe,” with someone who doesn’t have the first what they are doing. You really not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

      • Anonymous

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. 1) Alcohol is a drug.  2) Lack of experience for a position is certainly important, but that’s not what Beck and his pals were discussing in the piece posted above. So it’s not relevant to Beck’s selective moral outrage here.

        • greywolfrs

Well, then caffiene is drug and if I quit drinking Pepsi, then I am a recovering addict. See the stupidity in that argument?
When it comes to overlooking someone’s past, don’t you think it is wise to see some change? I see Glenn having stopped doing all of that. Where has the person being put in as second in command of the CIA stated that she did something to change? How is it hypocrisy to change and call others out for NOT changing? That makes absolutely no sense. I think you need to learn what the word hypocrisy means…

Selective moral outrage? Give me a break with this stupidity.

          • Anonymous

In response to your first question: no, i do not see any stupidity in your statement. Caffeine addiction is indeed a drug addiction (believe me, I know, I’m very strongly addicted to black coffee, and I love it!). Nicotine addiction would be another similar example. Caffeine is of course a milder drug than alcohol or other illegal drugs, and its effects are not as harmful. But that’s a matter of degree. It has no bearing on the idea that alcoholism is a (very nasty and powerful) drug addiction.

And it’s irrelevant anyway, as Beck has freely admitted to using other non-alcohol drugs. Here’s another quote, from glennbeck.com (Beck’s bio): “…at the age of 30, Beck lost his passion for radio – and everything else – as he was consumed by alcoholism and drug addiction.” The point is, you claimed that Beck was only addicted to alcohol, so that you would have a reason to call me a “dolt”. You were mistaken. I’m not sure why you see any benefit in arguing the point.

Regarding your 2nd point, I guess there is some superficial validity in that it’s true that Ms. Haines never repudiated the reading of literary erotica. Of course, in my view and I would guess in the view of most people, that would be because there’s nothing to repudiate, because it’s really not a big deal. The change is in the fact that she ran a bookstore many years ago where erotica readings were held, and she changed careers long ago. So my point was that Glenn Beck loves to talk about the horrible things he used to do, and expects others to understand and accept those human failings (which I certainly do — good for him for getting sober!) … but he never seems very eager to extend that same consideration to others who happen to fall on the other side of the ideological divide. Hence, ‘selective moral outrage’.

Anyway, time to go to work… thanks for a (mostly) civil dialogue. Please feel free to call me stupid some more if you like; I will check back in later. Have a lovely evening.

          • greywolfrs

OK, again, for the intellectually impaired, simply “changing careers” is NOT denouncing what she did in the past. A recovering alcoholic denounces alcoholism. How can you call it hypocrisy? You clearly don’t have the first clue what the word means.

Again, where exactly has she ever denounced what she did? You say Glenn never extends the same consideration to others, but she has yet to say anything against doing that. How can it be “selective moral outrage” or hypocrisy without the denunciation? That makes absolutely no sense.

Regardless of Glenn’s addictions, (I have only heard him speak about alcohol) how is anything you said accurate? The answer: it is not. That is why you are dolt. It’s OK, keep thinking you have made some point, it’s clearly the top of your head.

    Why is this any shock?

Has anyone considered WHY Obama has been replacing so many men with women? In this case, its pure political coverage: complain about the department or the person heading it, and if they are a woman, especially a minority women, then the cries of the left will be ‘discrimination’ loud and clear due to them being women.

What do you expect from a deviant president in a party of deviants. Judgment is a comin’.  More and more people sense that things are coming to a head in this country.  Just today I have witnessed retired older women wanting out of dollars and into precious metals.  I no longer deal in metals just for disclaimer sake.  These people are getting spooked and it is growing.

  • greywolfrs

I don’t really care about her reading ANY book, at her book store. As a free American, that is her right. If I do not want to be a part of it, I am also free and can leave. The problem here is the lack of experience. Just like the director of the FBI saying he had no clue about that mosque, this dolt with no experience can not be a good choice. These are the agencies that are tasked with keeping us “safe,” yet seem to be filled with incompetent fools. I believe that is a bit of a problem.

Turning the other cheek means entirely the opposite…! Here buddy is my other side… try it and see what happens? Tolerance is different than playing stupid e.g., letting a bully or criminal get away with stuff over and over again, by forgiving, is a sickness, or an excuse for weakness/fear.

God is in charge of forgiveness…The tribe does not stand around doing nothing.

Are you kidding.  It is to have all these women around him to make him feel more manly.  Just look at Michelle, I think I would, too.  They are nothing but trash and he is bringing the name of that office down to gutter level.  We now have nothing to be proud of.  Half of the women he has put into office have a male essence about them.   YUCK!!!   Get him and all of them out!!

    • Anonymous

Interesting point. Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by “nothing but trash” please? And we’d love to hear some details about the “male essence” about certain women which you have noticed. Thanks!

This is what happens when you let jews run the show. They corrupt entire societies and contribute to moral decline.

    • Anonymous

Zionists to be precise, it’s important to differentiate.  There is nothing wrong with Jews per se, as with any other race / group or whatever terminology one’s comfortable with.

Can someone explain the difference between erotica and porn ?  Seems to me the word erotica is just an excuse for women to get away with indulging in porn !!

Wait… So these people want to control others by destigmatizing sex and pleasure? What then does Glenn think he is doing, freeing them by telling them what they can and can’t do with their own bodies? No, that is what’s controlling here.
