SCANDAL WEEK DAY 2: The IRS

Several full blown scandals have bombarded the Obama administration in the past few weeks alone, building on an already impressive list of past scandals. So much has happened recently that one might easily forget about Operation Fast & Furious, the dozens of spectacular green ‘investment’ failures like Solyndra, or even garden variety intimidation like Vice President Biden forcing a veteran ABC news reporter into a storage closet for more than an hour.

It’s basically a full-time job to keep track of all the corruption in this administration, and since we know you are far too busy to pick up a second job chronicling Obama’s lies & abuses, we will attempt to do it for you this week on GlennBeck.com. Day 1 (The NSA)

Day 2: IRS intimidation, targeting

It’s been tradition for past United States Presidents to respect those with whom they disagree politically by acknowledging dissenters and celebrating their right to speak out. But this President has taken a different approach – he’s using the Chicago way to deal with opposition. Instead of celebrating America’s right to free speech, he’s going after anyone who disagrees with him and he’s doing so with the full weight and force of the federal bureaucratic army. Instead of simply making his case against Tea Party arguments, faced with a wave of opposition, the Obama administration instead tried to silence them using the IRS as their primary weapon.

Here’s a timeline with all the key dates and information you need to know (to date) on the IRS targeting scandal. Bookmark this page and share it because the MSM is already moving on:

  • May 10, 2013: IRS admits to targeting conservative groups with ‘Tea Party’ and ‘912 Project’ during 2012 election, apologizes.
    • IRS apologized on its own, MSM never pressed the issue
    • No immediate disciplinary action
    • Lois Lerner says she’s ‘not good at math’
    • Blames low level staffers in Cincinnati
  • May 11, 2013: Glenn rips IRS, MSM, shows TheBlaze reports on targeting beginning in February 2012
  • May 13, 2013: CBS reports Lerner aware of targeting in June 2011.
  • May 14, 2013: Local news reporter targeted by IRS after tough Obama interview.
  • May 17, 2013: NYT reports Obama administration knew of IRS targeting at least 5 months earlier, despite Obama claiming he found out by watching the news.
  • June 11, 2013: Lerner still has access to IRS system, even though she is on administrative leave.
  • June 24, 2013: New IRS chief says targeting was broader and lasted longer than previously thought.
  • June 25, 2013: Left cheers end of scandal but attempts to say progressive groups were also targeted.
  • July 3, 2013: House Oversight Committee says Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights, could be forced to testify.

Be sure to check back for a comprehensive roundup of the DOJ targeting of journalists.

So does anyone wish to estimate or even guess at how many criminal scandals will come to the light by the end of the administrations last day in office?

  • http://www.artinphoenix.com/gallery/grimm snowleopard (cat folk gallery)

What is it going to take to bring this criminal organization of an administration to finally be brought down and face justice for its crimes? What is it going to take for God’s sake?

Fast – Furious, Benghazi, IRS, AP/Fox and so much more, including the political prosecution for the advancement of gun control of Zimmerman. How much is enough?

  • Anonymous

The Inspector General Russell George was largely silent on the handling of liberal groups.  George is being asked to return to hearings to explain why he ignored evidence of targeting groups with the words “Occupy” and “Progressive”.  Republican attempts to link Obama to Tea Party targeting will die out soon.

  • Anonymous

Huh?  Zimmerman was acquitted.  You’ll make an Obama scandal out of anything, won’t you.  Name one gun control law that’s been created since Obama was in office. The only law I know of was one signed by Obama allowing firearms to be carried in national parks, i.e. an expansionary law.    Obama wanted background checks, which makes sense to almost everyone, but even that sensible piece of legislation was denied by the very Republicans that think it’s a good idea.

  • Anonymous

Conservative groups WERE singled out.  That’s injurious in and of itself.  The denial of the fact that they were singled out adds insult to injury.  Liberal groups were not targeted at all, let alone to the vast degree that Conservatives were.  There is documentary proof of this and sworn testimony to support and prove this beyond a reasonable doubt.  However high up the chain of command it goes, this Administration is guilty of discrimination and they have shown no signs that the arrogance will stop.

  • Draxx

Background Checks Do Absolutely Nothing But Hinder Legal and Law Abiding Citizens!  Criminals will always have Access to Weapons Via the Black Market (and I don’t mean anything racist, someone else came up with that label for street sales).  People can be greedy, you restrict firearms from people and others will go out of the country buy them and smuggle them in for Higher Profit Sales…  If someone is really intent on getting a firearm they will get one, Regulations, Background Checks, and Waiting Periods Will Not Stop Them!!!

Landree, stop and think about Prohibition of Alcohol… It did nothing but increase Crimes!  Plus, the people that wanted to drink still found places to do it!  Did any of those Laws/Regulations Really Help Out -or- Did They Do More Damage Ultimately (Al Capone didn’t make it in Legal Business, he did it in the Shadows Despite Laws!  Oh, and the Firearms Never Killed Anybody, it was those fools behind the Trigger Pull that Killed People!  Do You Think Gun Regulations Would Have Stopped That???)

  • Draxx

snowleopard, unfortunately those that Write/Enforce the Laws/Regulations seem to think that they are Above the Laws…

  • Leah Brooks

The IRS should be discontinued and a fair tax initiated.  The IRS and FBI and the NSA are being used to target political enemies.  This administration is the most corrupt in our history, how sad.

    1. Who did Zimmerman take to the Prom, who did he tutor including after the tutoring program ended and who did he grow up with in his home?
    2. Who withheld this evidence from the Zimmerman Defense team?
    3. Who smashed in store windows owned by which ethnic groups and burned garbage on city streets in what ethnic neighborhoods?Answers to the above:1. Black, blacks and blacks2. POTUS, Attny. Gen. FBI, FL Gov. FL Attny. Gen.3. Racists, non-black, and non-blackKnowing this my personal belief is that1. A racially biased mainstream media in virtually all cases thru out the race card to harm Zimmerman, the country and provoke the riots.2. A politically motivated President, US Attny. General, FL Gov. & Attny Gen. bowed to the will of racists who would divide our country in lieu of rule of law. By so doing they became the gutless wonders they are as racists .Under the facts above who do you think the REAL racists are??

  • Anonymous

Homes, everybody knows the most racist single group in the U.S. is the media. They’ll do anything to stir up racial hatred, and will consider their crowning achievement to be a race war in which hundreds, if not thousands, of blacks will be killed.

As liberals don’t care if the poor are made more poor as long as the rich are made less rich, the American media doesn’t care if tens of thousands of blacks are killed in a race war as long as there is a race war … and they can make a buck!

Thank you Blaze for keeping track of the administration’s scandals, while Eric Holder tries to keep the Zimmerman case on the news front.  Too bad the main stream media is falling for the diversion.

If the jury had had this they would have taken 16 seconds for the same decision which took 16 hours!

For over ten years, the Fed has required criminal background checks, which results in denial of about 100,000 guns per year. That hasn’t infringed on law abiding citizen’s rights.

  • Anonymous

And about 100,000 convicted felons went out and bought guns on the black market.

  • Anonymous

Perhaps, or perhaps they didn’t. At least it wasn’t as easy as walking into a store.

I could not understand why the Republicans and others totally failed the American people in not highlighting Obamas exact neomarxist background and real agenda..his influences in total..WHY??

Simply, the media suppressed the news. Was in Oz in May in your “neighborhood” on the Sunshine Coast! Was in Brizzie a couple a times, too. Good on ya. (I’m a Yank, not Aussie.)

About time to forget about the Zimmernan trial. It should never have gone to trial at all…It has taken news away from the true criminal…Obama..Get back to putting him in Gitmo with his friends and save our country…Let the blacks grow up please…quit coddling them.

I am sick and tired of people talking about this background check BULLSHIT. I am a gun dealer and NO ONE is exempt from a background check. I have been purchasing firearms since I was legally old enough and have never bought one without a background check being filled out ESPECIALLY at a gun show. There ARE mental health questions on the 4473 forms know and have been for a long time. There are OVER 2,000 gun laws on the books right now and who can name any other topic that has that many laws restricting it? Also if your IGNORANT enough to think universal background checks are fine and will not eventually lead to confiscation, go study the rise and fall of the Nazi party. That party didn’t get everything they wanted overnight. It’s a gradual decline of your freedoms. Also this 90% of Americans that agree we need stricter gun laws, where was that poll taken, CNN viewers?

Has the Brady Act lead to confiscation? Recent legislation proposed to expand the same check requirements for dealers to gun shows and Internet sales. I would assume, since the legislation sought to include gun shows that they’re currently excluded. Perhaps some states have laws to include gun shows as you claim is required in your state. Dealer checks have been law since 1993 and the Government hasn’t tried to confiscate your guns, have they?

  • greywolfrs

OK, in your first comment, you claim Obamao and reasonable Americans want backgroud checks. Now, you claim the Feds have been doing them for over ten years. If they are already doing them, why would you want to start doing them? That makes absolutely no sense.

  • greywolfrs

No, actually, they will not. The problem, which you refuse to see, is that “Conservatives” were targeted far more. You can claim that some “progressive” groups were targeted, but the numbers do not lie.

  • Anonymous

No, the 1993 Brady Act required background checks at dealerships. The latest legislation proposed expanding to gun shows and internet sales. That does make sense.

  • Anonymous

I haven’t heard about any numbers. I have heard generalizations during the testimony on the issue. I think it’s a little early to make conclusions on an investigation that’s still underway.

  • greywolfrs

You may not like Glenn or this show, but they have pointed out the numbers on the Pat and Stu show. They are GROSSLY disproportionate.

  • greywolfrs

If you think there has never been a government confiscation of any weapons, you are wrong. It has happened IN THIS COUNTRY. Look up the CA law that confiscated ALL AK/SKS type rifles.

  • greywolfrs

    To Landree,
As easy as walking into a store? It is far easier to get a gun on the street, don’t be a fool.

I would like to why a Democrat can’t figure out how corrupt his Party is, I mean are they this ignorant. I know they have a major problem with illiterate people the big cities in this country and it SHOWS

  • Anonymous

Just a few days ago, Reuters reported groups with the work “Occupy” were targeted just like “Tea Party” ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/12/irs-occupy-tea-party_n_3587443.html?utm_hp_ref=politics ). We’ll just wait for the investigation to conclude. But even if they conclude the scrutiny was similar, I have a feeling many right wing critics won’t believe the verdict. I certainly wouldn’t rely on Beck’s reporting. He’s got quite a reputation of having his pants on fire when it comes to his opinions.

  • Anonymous

Interesting. But that was a state law. Have any CA citizens taken their case to Federal court?

There are still too many people who support this Administration in the media, the court system, the House, the Senate, and the 47% who get “free stuff”. Why is this?  You can place the blame squarely where it belongs; our school system – especially at the college level.  So many students, if they were not liberals before going to college, end up being liberals because frequently their grades are determined by the way they swing politically.

Why won’t Glenn, and many others, report on the U.S. Supreme Court case against the IRS fraud which, now, 10 courts, INCLUDING the Supreme Court, have completely ignored?  The evidence is irrefutable, yet it seems most like to talk about the scandals but don’t want to confront the IRS face to face.

The IRS even defaulted in this last case, and the court failed to enter this… http://foundationfortruthinlaw.org/PDF/Jeffrey-T-Maehr-v-Internal-Revenue-Service-US-Supreme-Court-S.pdf, and http://foundationfortruthinlaw.org/PDF/U.S.-Supreme-Court-Petition-for-Rehearing-Professional-complete.pdf

All this takes is people knowing about the 100 year fraud and that their wages are NOT income…

  • Anonymous

    You ARE mentally unstable.

  • Draxx

I put a little thought behind giving you a response, and here is the result…

By requiring a Background Check prior to owning/purchasing a firearm is “Implying” that you Probably Have Done Something Wrong In The First Place!  In essence you are Guilty Until Proven Innocenct Without Even Commiting A Crime, by gov’t standards you are an immediate threat by owning a firearm (whether you use them responsibily or not)…  Now how is that fair to Law Abiding Citizens (Our Constitution also Does Not State that even Felons are Restricted from owning a firearm, so why should common citizens?).

  • Anonymous

The Supreme Court has long held the opinion, last reiterated in DC v. Heller, that gun laws are Constitutional if they: 1) Prohibit the possession of firearms by felons or the mentally ill, or 2) Forbid the carrying of firearms in certain places, or 3) Impose conditions or qualifications on the sale of arms.
