Gov. Christie slams Rand Paul, libertarians as ‘dangerous’

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Governor Chris Christie has been gearing up for a 2016 run, doing everything he can to butter up to the left. But has he taken it too far with his latest attack? He ripped libertarians, specifically Rand Paul, and called them ‘dangerous’ while also referring to debate on Constitutional rights as an ‘esoteric’ one.

“Chris Christie is back in our bad graces again today.  We’ve forgotten about him for a while, the fat bastard that he is, and ‑‑ but yesterday he opened up again,” Pat said.

TheBlaze reported on Christie’s comments about those dangerous libertarians:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Thursday took a big swing at libertarian-leaning lawmakers in both parties, calling the ideology, when applied to national security, “a very dangerous thought.” His comments come just one day after the House narrowly rejected a sweeping amendment to defund the National Security Agency’s surveillance program.

Addressing the bipartisan coalition that joined together to nearly push the so-called Amash amendment through, Christie told lawmakers who harbor libertarian views on the issue to explain their position to the victims of 9/11, the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake reports. He also included Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in his critique.

“As a former prosecutor who was appointed by President George W. Bush on Sept. 10, 2001, I just want us to be really cautious, because this strain of libertarianism that’s going through both parties right now and making big headlines, I think, is a very dangerous thought,” Christie said.

“First of all, it’s not going through parties.  It’s going through a party, which is the Republican Party, the party that he actually is in.  It was the Republicans governor conference in Colorado,” Stu said.

Stu read from the report: When asked if he was referring to Rand Paul, Mr. Christie replied, you can name any number of people, and he’s one of them.  ‘These esoteric intellectual debates, I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have those conversations.  And they won’t because that’s a much tougher conversation to have.”

“No, it’s not actually.  You know, you want to talk about freedom in front of, in front of orphans and widows (of people) who have been killed in terrorist attacks?” Stu said, noting that Rand Paul would be up for that debate.

“Not all libertarians agree with those wars, but the wars that we went into afterwards were to protect the freedoms that we have at home,” Stu said.

“Christie’s point here is that you’re not taking 9/11 seriously if you don’t believe that every single phone call you make should be reported to the government, that every single e‑mail you send should be reported to the government.  That everywhere you go, you should get your license plate scanned so they have an access to essentially a map of your locations where you’ve driven in the past few years,” Stu continued.

Sorry to be repetitive, but I just found out that Ted Cruz was born in Alberta, Canada. Why are we being told he’s a possible Presidential candidate when he’s not a natural born citizen? We don’t need this crap coming out after the fact. Can you imagine the media fodder on this? Cross Sen Cruz off the list and pass this info on all over the net, twitter & Facebook. Yeah, he’s a great conservative, but can never run for pres. I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed he hasn’t told us the truth. It’s going to have to be Rand Paul in 2016. Someone needs to tell the TPP, and Allan West’s Next Generation, because Cruz just came out number one on their straw poll.

    • Anonymous

      Max, I’m glad someone
besides myself realizes this fact. In fact, I saw an interview conducted
with him a few months back. I forget who did it. He was asked ” What do
you say to those who claim your not a Natural Born Citizen, therefore
not eligible. His reply was ” I guess I’ll have to leave it up to the
people to decide”. I thought to myself “now what kind of answer is that
coming from someone so knowledgeable of our constitution?. He really
dodged that one by the skin of his teeth. He knows full well he’s not
eligible. And if he knows that, then he’s purposefully silent in Obama’s
eligibility. He knows, oh trust me, he knows full well better than
most. I would also mention that Rubio isn’t eligible either. ” Born Of
two American citizen parents” he’s not. Sure, they’ve since became, but
not at the time of his birth.
You know what really bothers me on this subject? As much as I like Glenn Beck
and all the good he’s done, he mocks those who are known as Birthers. I
ask, with all the knowledge Glenn has concerning our constitution, why
is it he hasn’t brought up this subject in a serious setting. As opposed
to going so far as to mock the people who listen to him. I was watching
the Pillsbury Dough Boy before he ever went to FOX. I say that
      affectionately.

How can so many people be so ignorant of the facts, especially conservatives or posters who claim to be conservatives?  Marc Rubio was born in Miami and his parents citizenship at the time of his birth are irrelevant.  See above re: Ted Cruz’s status of birth and right to be a natural born citizen.

It worked for Obama, didn’t it?

    • Anonymous

In fact Ted Cruz is a “natural born citizen since his mother is a U.S Citizen by birth.  Even though his father was not a citizen at the time of Teds’ birth, the law only requires one parent to be a citizen if and when a child is born outside the U.S.  This was the same situation for John McCain, born in the Panama Canal Zone while his father was stationed there.  George Romney was born in Mexico by U.S. parents and was qualified to be president of the U.S.  Therefore there are no grounds to challenge Ted Cruz’s candidacy for President.

I would gladly join in any move for his nomination as a true conservative and encourage all to support him. I would also suggest for anyone to listen to his fathers speech at the Salt Lake City,.  A conservative family that are true conservatives.

You do not understand the definition of Natural Born Citizen.  Both parents must be U.S. citizens at the time of birth.  I love Ted Cruz but his dad was a Cuban citizen living in Canada when Ted was born which means Ted was born a Cuban/American/Canadian.  Regrettably that means Ted is not a NB citizen.

There is a way to make it happen, stop letting these “so-called” Conservative sites dictate who can and can not win. If “Conservatives” did that, it would absolutely be true. If “Conservatives” would listen to other Conservatives, ignoring the L ot R at the end of their name, there would be more harmony between Conservatives. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. If I could show you the things “so-called Conservatives” have said to me, around election time, because I am a Libertarian, it would make your head spin.

          • Anonymous

A lot of people who think they are Conservative are in all reality totally watered down by the Left.  The values of Conservatives are getting watered down by the day.  There is a very simple one that people forget…tell the truth, at no matter what cost to you.  I register as a Republican voter, you have your Libertarian stance, my party is messed up, yours is a major underdog.  I would argue that Libertarians have the closest comparison to the founding fathers as far as their overall mission.  The Republicans used to be that way until about…January 2009 when somebody started to crucify and demonize them.  They’ve been thoroughly defeated and honestly I think they will be the 3rd party by 2020.
But we have that last party to talk about.  The Democratic party is so far to the Left that it isn’t even funny.  They don’t have bipartisan ideas, they have Centrist ideas.  It doesn’t matter that it’s a thoroughly Marxist party.  It’s the denial that is the worst.  To be a Democrat in this country, and deny that one has Marxist tendencies, is the most Marxist thing about any Democrat.  This party is hostile towards Christians, Jews, business owners, and ANYone with a decent bank account balance or liquid asset of any kind.  They’ve got so many of those people snowed that half of them voted for Obama anyway!

Christy is nothing more than a specious-prevaricating rhetoric-peddler; he’s a GOP ( Grand Orwellian Party) collectivist who thinks the Constitution is an anachronistic document. He’s a power-tripping authoritarian, and he and his power-loving ilk are really the sociopaths who pose the greatest dangerous to liberty.

Christy is emblematic of the group of fat-cat-control-freak statists who so love the centralized power of Washington.

Hey Christy! You fat-ass-Obama-loving collectivist! If you can’t protect both America and the Constitution simultaneously, it’s time then for you to shove off and go straight to hell…. America needs leaders who can win the war on terror without destroying the Bill of Rights!

His comment about not being a Concerned American for not wanting/letting them track your phone records is akin to a Roman saying, “Well if you don’t want to be a Slave, then You Really Don’t Care About The Welfare of Rome…”!   We are putting you in shackles for you OWN Protection!!!

That is exactly why Romney chose him to be his main pr person to speak for Romney.

Romney also chose paul ryan because he is the lead in the house to pass thru amnesty bill.

      • Anonymous

You can play the role of faultfinder all that you want to, Jen; however, even if Rand is not as libertarian as his dad, Ron, even if Rand plays hardball with shitheads like Shitt Romney and even if Rand fails to deliver any meaningful reductions in The United Stasi Statists of America, there is still as yet nobody else who is both better acting than Rand and who has a shot at actually becoming President.

Rand has everything at his disposal which his father has built over the past  forty years; and he’ll need it, because whoever goes up to bat against the Wall Street scam artists, the Fed banksters, the Military Industrial Complex, Big Pharma, Monsanto, the NSA, CIA, the Kafkaesque bureaucracy, the GOP, the Democratic party, etc, etc, et al…… whoever beats all of the aforementioned collectivists in a multi-billion dollar contest will need a lot of grass-roots support.

Rand will get such support like nobody else.

So, Rand is a better man with a better way, but he’s not a perfect man with a perfect one.

There are social libertarians and economic ones. They could belong to any party. So Christie did not make a mistake in that respect.

His comments are driven by pure political ambition. He is appealing to the lowest common denominator of conservative thought. Namely: Always be prepared to fight another war, occupy another country, spy on your own people; then, give them housing, education – i.e. brainwashing centers – free food – but not too much, free health care – enough to keep you alive until the next election – and a computer – to keep tabs on any and all potential enemies. Nothing new there. Christie is just another Big Government politician, with huge ambitions and a vision where America worships -:His Fatness.

Telling people that they have to learn to stand on their own two feet – find productive work, save money for you and your family’s future, bail out of the problems you created for yourself and be kind and as helpful as possible to your neighbor when they need it – doesn’t sell. That is why the mainstream Republican Establishment feels the need to distance themselves from Libertarianism.

crispy cupcake proves what, after all, he is: a cupcake… in need of love.

first, he is proud voodoo baby (son, of voodoo daddy) appointed him. voodoo baby declared the war on terrorism, at least in iraq, was won. is it? then why do we the innocent need to be spied on? so much for political appointers, and their appointed.

second, the appointed cupcake never heard of james madison, a bit more weighty than the weighy one, at least intellectually, who said: “If tyranny and oppression come to this land it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

third, appointments are just that, political cream puff payola, nothing more, so the appointed cupcake need not remark any longer as if his was a matter of recognition of intellect. it obviously was not, nor could it have been.

fourth, did cupcake’s busy bee keystone cops’ spying stop the boston marathon bombing?

last, cupcake pretends concern for orphans and widows, any easy pitch to make, except to those widowed or orphaned under the large hand (pun intended) of other tyrants such as mao, hitler, stalin, pol-pot, etal, who also began their illustrious careers spying on their governed, orphans and widows to-be, as madison aptly observed.

btw, one thing cupcake got right, broken clock that he is: liberty (his coined “libertarianism”) is dangerous, as our founding fathers knew and suffered well. but they also more soberly knew oppression, in the name of protection, is the ultimate danger, except of course for cupcakes, as to which minnie the mooch, cupcake’s best pal’s (smoke’s) wife, would happily attest.

i would like now to see the ingenius ann coulter to defend her preciously creamed cupcake idiot who feebly plays only to, and for, the rino clan.
