‘What are you talking about?’ CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield puts Rep. Charlie Rangel in his place

CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield is certainly not known to have conservative leanings, but during an interview with Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) yesterday, Banfield proved to be remarkably rational.

“Here’s Charlie Rangel being too ridiculous for leftist Ashleigh Banfield,” Glenn said on radio this morning.

“Here’s the most amazing thing. And I believe this is on the debt ceiling, only the debt ceiling, not Obamacare, but only the debt ceiling, I believe the Republicans should cave,” Glenn said. “I believe the Republicans should give the debt ceiling and make some deal to extend it another year or whatever only because I believe you are dealing with Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter. I think the president will pull the damn trigger.”

“He was already on CNBC. Instead of being calm and saying, ‘The world has nothing to worry about,’ which they don’t. The world has nothing to worry about. We will pay our debts. I mean not forever because eventually this game is up, you know. So it’s only a matter of time, and he knows that. And that’s why he’s looking for someone to blame it on because we could have this thing collapse on us next week, in a year from now. David Buckner told us that it would be a year from now that this thing collapses,” he continued. “So he’s looking for a reason to collapse it and blame it on the TEA Party and blame it on the Republicans. So they should cave on the debt ceiling at this point. Until they can get their ass together – I’m sorry, did I say ass – act together and actually have a vision that people understand.”

By Glenn’s definition, “cave” would ideally mean a two or three month delay of the debt ceiling debate, which would push the current conversation off until January or February 2014. But he is doubtful President Obama would agree to such terms.

“Can you just extend it for a short period of time, though,” Stu asked.

“Oh, I’d like that. But the president won’t do it. The president said he wouldn’t do it. That’s why I say he’s The Deer Hunter. He will pull the trigger.”

This is a brain on liberalism. Notice how nothing he says makes sense. I want to ask something does anyone besides me see similarities between this and how Hitler came to power? Because all it took was Hitler to burn parliament down in order to round up his enemies and put a bullet in their heads. I bet if Obama refuses to make a deal that is what is going to happen next the economy will burn and he will blame his enemies and the next thing we know we are looking into a loaded gun.

Rangel didn’t study history, in fact he never read the Constitution, but he is your typical Democrat all mouth and no brains

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D as in “Duh” NY): “Full of sound and fury and signifying nothing”; (other than revealing that he’s as close to an (what’s a nice way of saying) idiot as can be found on God’s green earth!

He’s “amazing”…for all the wrong reasons!

  • Jack486

    Rangel sounds idiotic.

  • Mike Nelson

Glenn: I don’t know why you have to go to The Deer Hunter to find the archetype you are looking for, when everyone knows who Megatron is, and how he rolls.

I also wonder, after seeing the clip you showed in yesterday’s program, if you’ve ever watched the movie. The clip you showed was when they were captured on the battlefield, and Walken was resistant to playing the game, but the behavior you refer to as psychotic is the scene at the end, where he can’t stop playing, and is obviously only waiting to die.

Megatron is a power-hungry megalomaniac who will burn down the entire universe to have his way (or just prevent others’ having theirs), while Walken’s character is a warrior caught in his personal web of PTSD and self-loathing, who has no way out but to play the game to completion, because he’s lost himself.

While the Tea Party and American people may *possibly* be construed in Walken’s role, there is no doubt that Obama is an intentional destroyer.

It’s frustrating to be one of your supporters when the messages you convey are, at times, so apparently secondhand to you, rather than your own memories/perceptions. Had you ever watched the movie The Deer Hunter, I think there is no way possible that you could have misconstrued the scenes, and used the wrong one. The message, and the imagery are simply too powerful.

Please, watch the movie before you speak of it any further. In this case, and to those of us who have seen it, you sound so very, very foolish.

Oh, shooot! Ol’ Charley, translated, is saying that he has NO idea what the 3 propositions are. He’s like a cuckoo clock: when his inner button is pushed he comes out and repeats his mantra – related, or not. Hilarious!

I just wonder about the intelligence of the people that have elected this clown. But just like others of his “elk” – as he mispronounces the term – he does not answer questions. This is a big fat “I TOLD YOU SO” to all the republican, republican biggots, and tea party members that stayed home, didn’t vote for, and/or attacked Mitt Romney. WE WOULD NOT BE HERE IF HE WAS PRES. But you all pulled a tantrum just like this one and got no results to show for it, just like now. This country is going to burn and the cry baby tea party is to blames. Not Dems, not obama. tea party.

  • mspatdev

Who in the heck are you talking about? You need to go to school and learn a few things. The Dem’s and obammy are the worst people on earth. If you work, you will loose your 40+ hours and go to 29 hours. You are a looser and obammy and the dem’s loves you a whole lot. You must be a muslim jihard, communist, socialist and many others. You must be gay or homo. You must not be a Christian. You must be poor and take, and take from the hard earning Tax Payers. You must want to have obammycare. You must want the spend, spend dictator in the w/h. You must want your own family, siblings, cousins, neighbors to have to pay for their grandchildren and great grandchildren all of the taxes that the dictator is spending money on and he isn’t spending the money for the USA people. He is sending it the Mid-East terrorist and his favorite brotherhood. Is this what you want? you ought to listen and take notes on this:

http://Youtu.be/KbcLyEJvt48 It is about you favorite person that is the dicatator of this nation and he want’s to destroy all of us. I hope you have a good day/night.

    LOLOLOLOOOL!!!!!!!!!

    You just proved my point!

The dems and obama wouldn’t have the power they do if Romney was pres and all you can do is go on a wild rant about how much you hate them and think I love them because I had the nerve to call ya’ll out on your crap!!

You are exactly the person I am talking about. Think!

  • mspatdev

Actually I didn’t . I proved how silly you are. The dem’s and obammy do have the power. They are socialist and communist and every cabinet member is a socialist/communist. As for Romney, he would have been a better president then whats in the w/h. Romney would have spoke to all of Congress and negotiated with each one if need be. obammy doesn’t know how to negotiate, except to the enemies of the USA. He is the laughting stock of the world. obammy cheated, frauded, use his union buddies to change the voting in many of the upper states. Funny how in some Pennsylvania towns had 100% demo’s when there was a lot of GOP’s in there towns. The voting machines had obammy and not the GOP or other people. He has spent our hard earned tax payers money to get votes by giving away free phones and we are paying for there phone bills. He is paying rent on a lot of people. He has paid off mortgages. He is a crook and needs to be impeached.

I care for the American people and why should they have to suffer for how bad this government is to them. Dems, obammy, and GOP. obammy and the Dems are lousy people and maybe a couple are smarter than you. The GOP are good people, but some aren’t. The American people deserve somebody else that doesn’t have to hurt them all of the time. obammy is a dictator. You ought to read more of everyones posting on other websights. I do not like people that are the takers. The tea partie, is a mixture of different nationalitie, blacks, browns, yellow and whites. They do not like government that is so big that some of they are lazy.

I’ve been 18 years in NJ, but prior to that was 25 years in NYC – Charlie has never contributed anything to either proper debate or to the country since his combat service, but I’ll give him the credit for that service. Good your stupid. The Republican party you love so much raised the debt ceiling and kept in place Nobama care, not one thing would’ve changed with Romney. This vote proves it. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PARTIES. They’ve both chosen time and time again to vote in big government policies. YOUR the one that is blind and YOUR part of the problem that is taken this country down the drain. Take this quarter and buy a clue. None of us buy your two party partisan garbage anymore, progressive Republican tool. YOU can’t admit your wrong. Please go away or better yet register as a Democrat, might as well, you don’t care if somebody votes for big government just as long as they have a R in front of their name, idiot.

  • Anonymous

Thank you Ms. Banfield for insisting Mr. Rangel keep on topic.

  • Anonymous

“Good your stupid.” “… idiot.” You type pretty good for a 5 year old, but then maybe your mommy helped you.

Ok I’ll indulge you and come down to your level.

“No your stupid. You are an idiot” But then that’s what I would have said when I was your age.

“…not one thing would’ve changed with Romney.” The one thing this most recent tantrum is about is Obama Care and he would have signed an executive order on the first day exempting States from it, and then work to repeal it completely. I restate my original position, WE WOULD NOT BE HERE IF ROMNEY WERE PRESIDENT.
AND WHO DO WE HAVE TO BLAME?????
According to Rush Limbaugh, “4 million Republicans stayed home on election night” and he attributes that to them not getting the candidate they wanted.
So instead those 4 million paved the way to re-elect Obama.
My dad taught me something: He first voted when he was 18, just shortly after the age to vote was changed from, 21. He told me he has never missed an opportunity to vote in any election. His right means something to him.
I live in California. Electorally, the only vote that would possibly count is in a primary, But I still vote, because its my right, my duty as a citizen, and personally I don’t feel I have a leg to stand on if something is happening in government that I don’t like and I choose to complain about it, IF I CHOOSE NOT TO VOTE.
All those 4 million that stayed home deserve all the negative effects of their choices. Its just unfortunate that the rest of the country should have to suffer the wrath of their tantrum on election night.
Your problem is you still think this is a “Party” conversation.
Also…leave the play ground language at home. It cheapens your position.

Why is this tax cheat and evader still in public office? Why do people keep voting in complete incompetent buffoons like this? Ways and means committee – really? He found the ways to cheat and he got his means by scamming and cheating. It is just sad and pathetic that this is the best we can come up with. Better we have pimps, thugs and prostitutes in DC (no disrespect meant to them for comparing them to politicians) as we could do no worse.

  • Anonymous

Im silly? You just restated my original point.
We would not be here if Romney were president. Let look at the 4 million republicans that stayed home on election day. They weren’t the “GOP, RINO’s, and Big govt republicans” everyone seems to be trashing right now.

  • Anonymous

The real problem is when good people do nothing.
The Dems and Obama TOLD YOU WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO AND PROVED IT BY THEIR ACTIONS.
What’s worst, the robber that mugs an old lady, or the people that stand around and watch it happen, but do nothing to stop it? Morally, I don’t see much of a distinction between the two.
Shame on all of those who sat at home and watched it happen, but did nothing to stop it. And if it wasn’t clear I’m talking about, all of you that didn’t vote for Romney because you wanted a different candidate. Just may as well have voted for the Devil, because you were doing is bidding at the time.

  • greywolfrs

B S, people like you think that the Republicans can put up any clown and we are supposed to vote for them. Morons like you believe that we should continue to vote for “the lesser of two evils.” The problem you have is people like ME will no longer vote for “the lesser of two evil” or “anyone but Obamao.” We would rather vote for a Constitutionalist. I know it is difficult to understand what I just said. Carry on, Drone.

  • greywolfrs

Bad language? It’s time for people to see that words are for communication and there is no such thing as “bad language.” If that were true, than the same words in the English language would be “bad words” in England, the place the language is from, but they are not. Words such as “bloody” and “bugger” are “bad words” over there, yet we think nothing of them. Here, words such as “fuck” and “shit” are “bad words” but they think nothing of them. “Bad words” are a perception. In other words, some idiot long ago said those words were “bad” and people have been perpetuating that lie for a long time. You can feel free to break away from those lies at any time.

  • greywolfrs

I love the comment, but you know what is even more funny? This dolt is on the Ways and Means committee and didn’t know he needed to pay taxes on the property he owns. How dumb is that?

  • Anonymous

What evil is there in Romney? Where do you base your accusations that he doesn’t support, defend, and believe in the Constitution. What positions does he have that will remove our freedoms. What policies was he going to put in place that were going to destroy this country?
I didn’t say anything about voting the lesser of two evils, but you seem to think that the republic that the constitution established shouldn’t mean anything. You can’t hang your argument on the constitution and then call me Names, because I’m willing to respect the process of electing representatives democratically, who then go on to represent the people.
The constitution is a Standard, Not a sword. You can’t use it to beat people into submission when they disagree with you, and then stand behind it when others try to do the same thing to you. Or do you like it when the dems say, “Obama care was voted on, signed, and then found constitutional by the supreme court. What are you in such an uproar?”
Your problem is you think your are the only one entitled to constitutional rights.
I’ll be waiting for your or anyone’s substantiation of your claim that Romney is evil.

If you listen to the clip above, he goes on a veritable tirade about a word he obviously doesn’t understand. He keeps stating that his side is the “ilk” she was referring to. Apparently, he’s too ignorant to get that the word means, “a type of people or things similar to those already referred to”.

Of course, having him rave for five minutes only shows clearly that he is a complete moron. Apparently, he believes he should have some special dispensation to redefine a completely harmless word to indicate racial bias.

So far as him comparing the Republicans and the Tea Party to the Confederacy, this is further indicative that this man is nothing more than a puffed up marshmallow who spends every waking minute determined to portray himself and all blacks (except the ones who don’t agree with him…they’re all evil…ask Barack Obama) as helpless victims incapable of anything BUT victimhood.

  • russellmuscle1

I never knew that we had Elk in the government. Somebody should get those Elk out of there, pooping everywhere and eating up the lawn. ;-)
    IT”S ILK NOT ELK Charles.

  • russellmuscle1

Absolutely. If the Republican party was not so divided, they’d be a force to be reckoned with. Mitt Romney may not have been the candidate we wanted, but not bothering to vote is the same as voting for Obama. serts is absolutely correct.

  • russellmuscle1

Are you guys trying to say that a 2nd term for Obama was a better result then having Romney as president?

  • russellmuscle1

You won’t feel that way when you have children. Suddenly all those words you never paid attention to freak you out.

  • Anonymous

    Russellmuscle1,
By their poor logic of “Lessor of two evils” That’s exactly what they are saying. The problem is it doesn’t hold true. “lessor of two evils” implies Romney was only slightly better than Obama. Yet nobody can provide even an opinion as to why that applies to Romney, let alone facts.
If the Tea party wants to see a real “lessor of two evil” Look to the City of Los Angeles. One of the largest cities in the Country. Do you know how their Primary for Mayor works? All candidates run, and the top two go to the final Ballot. Do you know who the top two were? Two extremely liberal Democrats who have spent most of their professional lives as government bureaucrats, giving favors to unions and receiving “bribes” in return. That is the “lessor of two evils” I don’t wish on any conservative, tea party member, or Patriot.
Any one who can see my post that agrees with this “Lessor of two evils” logic, Show me how Romney VS Obama was any where close to the Mayor race in L.A.
Until then, I stand by my original Post. We would not be here if Romney were President!

Rangel should be in jail, not the Senate of the USA!

  • Gristle McThornbody

A master mixologist in New Orleans once told me that “bless your heart” is the greatest insult a lady or gentleman can possibly issue.

  • greywolfrs

Hey stupid, the weak mind is YOU. You continue to believe the lie and call someone else weak minded, talk about irony. Oh yeah, keep calling me a liberal, see how that works out for you. Dipshit.

  • greywolfrs

Wrong, those words are only words. Someone made up the idea that they are “bad” and you bought it. Feel free to think for yourself.

  • greywolfrs

OK, let me explain it in terms you can understand.

I guess you missed how the Republicans topedoed Rudy and Fred Thompson the first time Obamao got elected and it was the Republicans who did it. I guess you missed how the Republicans torpedoed Herman Caine and Santorum, just soon as it looked like they might beat Romney and it was Republicans who did that.

I guess you missed the Patriot Act, which REPUBLICANS put into place and IS completely unConstitutional. I guess you missed the NDAA, which is unConstitutional and Democraps put into place. I could go on, but you obviously an idiot and will never understand.

By the way, only a complete fool believes the SCOTUS is not driven by politics. Nevermind that though, that doesn’t fit into the stupidity you spew.

Another thing, I did not say Romney was “evil.” I said he is not a Constitutionalist, please try and argue that.

Again, you are wrong, I fight for EVERYONE’S Constitutional rights, as the Constitution laid them out. What the Federal government is doing goes far beyond what powers were enumerated to them by the CONSTITUTION. Try reading that document sometime, only this time comprehend what it says, don’t try to find a way to make it say what you want it to say.

You are truly a fool of the highest order.

  • greywolfrs

No, I am not TRYING to say anything. I AM SAYING ROMNEY wasn’t a MUCH better choice. Would he have got rid of Obamaocare probably so, but to say he would be anything but another establishment lackey is false.
Look at the dynamic of the last election. When Herman Caine started gaining in the polls, the Republicans torpedoed him. When Ron Paul started gaining in the polls, the Republicvans torpedoed him. When Newt started gaining in the polls, the Republicans torpedoed him. When Santorum started gaining in the polls, he was torpedoed by Republicans. The Republican nominee was Romney because it was “his turn.” He is another establishment lackey, that much is true. Why would you expect another establishment lackey to do the right thing and follow the Constitution? I certainly do not. That is EXACTLY what I mean by the “lesser of two evils.”

  • greywolfrs

Facts? Romney instituted universal health care in one state. Obamao did it on a national level. He is only slightly better.
    There is one glaring example.
By the way, it is spelled “lesser,” not “lessor.”

  • greywolfrs

Who said they didn’t vote? Why do you believe that I should vote for someone who does share my ideals? Why do you believe I should vote for someone who isn’t in the same party as I? A vote is for the person it is cast, no one else. You are both wrong, but keep spouting the same B S rhetoric.

  • Anonymous

Im quoting Rush Limbaugh. “4 million REBUBLICANS didn’t vote” then he goes on to say that it was because their guy didn’t win the Republican nomination. He is usually correct with facts, and his opinions are generally right on. Fact check him at your own peril.

“Why do you believe I should vote for someone who isn’t in the same party as I?” Did you read what I wrote? Is that what I said. We are talking about people that DIDN’T vote.

“Why do you believe that I should vote for someone who doesn’t share my ideals? (correction added “doesn’t”)”
I presume you wanted someone that believes in small government, the rule of law, and Morals…Ok so you didn’t think that was Romney so you voted for Obama? That is backwards.
Or are you looking for someone who is a perfect clone of you? Not realistic. The reality is that any candidate is going to have pros and cons. If you found this perfect candidate in a third party or write in, congrats.
It sounds like YOU are not a republican anyways so your inference that I have suggested YOU do anything is just coming across as defensive. You may want to rethink your approach

  • Anonymous

So basicly what your are saying is that Rudy, Fred Thompson, Herman Caine and Santorum COULDN’T win an election, but they should be president ANYWAYS.
BACK TO MY POINT: Republicans who stayed home, did so because their candidate didn’t win, and as a result we got the worst president ever, who has put us in a situation that those same people that didn’t vote HATE, and Now you want to blame the republicans who don’t have the power to stop it because of the constitution that established a Republic with representatives that were voted in democratically to represent them, but not by the people that didn’t vote because of their constitutional beliefs being “offended” in to not voting…….and the circular thinking goes on and on and on…
Those people made a bad decision by not voting and personally though they have a right to be mad at anyone they want, the people they should be mad at are themselves.
We would not be here if Romney was president!

  • Mike Nelson

That’s funny… a proper Southern Lady explained the same to me. It’s a fascinating conversation, which brings into proper perspective the sentiment that “you can always bury the hatchet, but you never forget where.”

Antebellum diplomacy at its finest, to be sure.

  • Anonymous

Herman Caine appeared to have a women problem, better it come out by a republican than Obama’s team. That’s politics.
Ron Paul was NEVER gaining in the polls, so there was never a need to torpedo him.
Newt was up in polls for about a week, and only after Perry dropped out, but are we going to have an argument about who was more conservative between Newt and Romney?
Santorum wasn’t “up” until everyone else was out, and what you call “Torpedoed” is formally known as Campaigning, or Politics. Santorum lost because people didn’t vote for him as they did other people. You keep trying to blame the “GOP conspiracy”, but FACTS are FACTS. They didn’t win the election. Or should we not hold elections anymore?
