Is the plot of the Oscar winning Dallas Buyers Club rooted in free-market principles?

In January, Glenn spoke to John Papola, the man behind “The Kronies” – a hilarious video that exposes the ties between bloated, big government and corrupt big business. The video is an awesome anti-corporatism campaign designed to look like a classic 1980s cartoon. Last night, Glenn sent around a new video from Papola’s team, “EconPop – The Economics of Dallas Buyers Club,” that takes an in-depth look at the economics of Academy Award winner Dallas Buyers Club.

According to its website, in this premiere episode of EconPop, Andrew Heaton discusses the economics of Dallas Buyers Club, which include public health and safety regulations, crony capitalism, the role of regulatory capture, the emergence of black and grey markets, and commercial exchange as a means for increased social tolerance.
