In an effort to highlight the “positive” side of abortion, Emily Letts, a 25-year-old abortion counselor from New Jersey, decided she would film her own abortion procedure to “show women that there is such a thing as a positive abortion story.”
“Today on YouTube, there is a video of a 25-year-old girl, who got pregnant and decided, ‘You know what, there's not enough pro-abortion videos,’” Glenn said on radio this morning. “So she videotaped her abortion.”
As Letts explains in the video that has been uploaded to YouTube, she found out she was pregnant, but she is just not ready to have a baby.
So what’s a girl to do?
Have an abortion – and film it for the world to see.
“Yeah, I am going to be having an abortion tomorrow morning,” Letts says with a slight laugh before the video cuts to footage of her in a hospital gown preparing for the procedure.
Though the video does chronicle Letts undergoing the procedure in a clinic, it spares any of the particularly graphic details. In an essay published on Cosmopolitan.com, Letts further explains why she decided to create the controversial video.
“We talk about abortion so much and yet no one really knows what it actually looks like. A first trimester abortion takes three to five minutes,” she writes. “It is safer than giving birth. There is no cutting, and risk of infertility is less than one percent. Yet women come into the clinic all the time terrified that they are going to be cut open, convinced that they won’t be able to have kids after the abortion.”
You may recall that up until about a year ago, Glenn rarely (if ever) spoke about his pro-life stance on air because there were “too many buckets of water” to carry. But last year Glenn and his team decided it was time “to stand for life.”
“I want you to just reflect here. A year ago, we as a show decided we would start talking about abortions on the air. We had never done that before, but we sensed – maybe a year and a half ago – it was time. We have got to stand for life,” Glenn explained. “Think of where we've come to: From we didn't even want to address it a year ago, to now, the first abortion on YouTube… It's an abortion! It's murdering a child!”
When you consider the outrage expressed – rightfully so – over stories that involve cruelty to animals, you have to wonder how unhinged society has become that it is now acceptable to publish a video in which an innocent baby is murdered.
“One of the big viral videos today is some guy kicking a cat,” Stu said. “And it's horrifying everyone.”
“This is a woman having an abortion and killed a child, and we as a society are so unhinged,” Glenn concluded. “Every program director in the United States of America, anybody who's ever complained about this show we talk too much about God or whatever, you tell me what a society needs besides that. You tell me what to say to a society that is killing children online and nobody seems to really care… You tell me what to say… Because I know God is just, I tremble for my country.”
