WATCH: Billy Crystal’s moving Emmy tribute to his dear friend Robin Williams

As feminists debate whether or not actress Sofia Vergara’s appearance on Monday night’s Emmys was sexist objectification, there was at least one heartfelt moment from the three-hour marathon broadcast. Comedian and actor Billy Crystal offered a moving tribute to his late friend and fellow funnyman Robin Williams.

Even TheBlaze’s Mike Opelka, who “generally avoids awards shows like most sensible people would avoid traveling to a country with an Ebola outbreak,” considered the moment to be “worth sharing.”

I think he slammed Obama harder. He also keyed in on Obama’s nature, which is talking to “his” people different than others. Bush was too easy. He is an unassuming man who didn’t put on airs, and has a genuine love for this country. He isn’t “eloquent” and never tried to be, but he has a grasp on what it means to be an American. Now, we have someone who is eloquent, but has no idea what it means to be an American and no clue on how to run anything larger than an ACORN training program.

        Eloquent? More like “hot air”.

Thank you, Billy, for keeping it simple, yet poignant. While most of us never got to know Robin as you did, we feel the loss and the grief. He was not like most of the “Hollywood Trash” that litters the streets these days. Robin was a real mensch. He really was a kind soul. He was the kind of person who’d give you the shirt off his back. He devoted a great deal of his life to entertaining the troops overseas. The only person who spent more trips overseas entertaining the troops was Bob Hope, and only by a scant handful. Robin was very dedicated to our men and women in uniform, and he loved his fans. I wish he could have found someone to trust to speak to about whatever might have been troubling him. Robin, you are missed terribly. I hope through God’s forgiveness you may find peace, O Captain, my Captain!(from Dead Poet’s Society)

    Wonderful tribute.

For some reason, there are ignorant people out there calling some of the clips “racist”, and only pointing out the “Iran” joke. These folks don’t understand that was a CULTURAL reference. He also made fun of India and Jews, but no outrage there. Why do I get the feeling that our world is heading towards an abyss, and that abyss is named “IDIOCY”?
