“Black Hole Sun” was my favorite song of the 90s. It came out when Glenn and I were doing a top 40 FM morning show together in Connecticut. Chris Cornell had the quintessential rock voice.
His family is claiming that the prescription drug Ativan played a part in his suicide. Maybe, I don’t know. But his death seems to be yet another example that money and fame certainly don’t guarantee happiness. He was a man who seemingly had everything… beautiful wife, children and a $60 million net worth.
It obviously takes something more to keep us grounded and bring us joy.
In a statement, Cornell’s wife Vicky said, “Chris’s death is a loss that escapes words and has created an emptiness in my heart that will never be filled. As everyone who knew him commented, Chris was a devoted father and husband. He was my best friend. His world revolved around his family first and of course, his music, second.”
We share our deepest condolences for Cornell’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
