On radio this morning, Glenn discussed Santorum’s growing lead in the polls as the latest show him topping the presumed “inevitable nominee” Mitt Romney. What does Glenn think? He reacted on radio this morning.
“Public policy poll is showing Rick Santorum leads Romney nationally by 15 points?” Glenn said on radio.
“Among those who describe themselves as conservative voters. He's up 53 - 20 over Gingrich,” Pat said.
“Do you remember Pat talking about this months ago where you were talking about Duncan Hunter syndrome which was the guy you supported in 2008 who was very conservative but never really made a run, you know, stuck around 1 or 2% the entire time,” Stu said.
“I believe I said have faith. If that's what you believe, have faith, yeah,” Glenn said.
“See, you're always turning it around to be about you,” Stu joked.
Stu did add, “I don't think you ever feel bad about what you've done if you voted for the best guy.”
Stu also noted that the rise and fall of Santorum, who was at one point polling at 1%, shows the unpredictability of the political field.
Glenn has been saying for months now that you should vote for the person who best represents your values, not the candidate that you think could beat Barack Obama. The sentiment, at times, has made him unpopular with some Newt Gingrich supporters who felt he would crush Barack Obama in the debates.
“You did call this, but the vast majority of the people did not. Which was in 2008 we went through this entire primary thinking this was going to be an election on a referendum about Iraq, and everybody was talking about Iraq constantly, constantly, constantly. What happened during the election? It was all about the economy and John McCain was there in a good position on Iraq and in a terrible position on the economy and he got destroyed," Stu continued.
You can't sit there and predict these things in the future. Just vote who you think is the best guy, the best person,” he said.
