This morning on radio, Glenn played audio of “journalist” Soledad O’Brien was interviewing Florida Rep. Allen West. Instead of talking about things that really matter with the Congressman, like the failing economy, high gas prices, national security, or anything else the American people actually care about, Soledad first tried to make Ted Nugent the topic of conversation. After that failed, she moved on to some comments West made about members of the communist party last week.
Here is video clip of West’s comments:
“You said there were 78 to 80 members of the communist party. You mean like card carrying members of the communist party?” O’Brien asked the Congressman.
Rep. West immediately called Soledad out for not playing the full clip, and responded by saying, “I talked about the progressive congressional caucus. We've been back and forth about this, and I've had to give quite a few a people a tutorial about the political spectrum of ideologies, and there's a thin separation. At the turn of the century, here in the United States of America, American communist had to rename themselves progressives, but the strategy and the tactics and the ideology still remains the same.”
“He's exactly historically – 100% right. The communists remain, but what they did is split,” Glenn said.
Glenn went on to explain that the communists learned that they had to use progressive steps to eventually get where they want to go. That’s the idea behind the “progressive” movement. What progressives fail to do, Glenn pointed out, is ask one simple question: Progress to what? Whether it’s through socialism, progressivism, or revolution resulting in communism, the end result is the same – redistribution of wealth, the capping of salaries, income equality, land grabs so no one can have private property, etc…
Allen West continued his response to Soledad O’Brien saying, “For a caucus that actually wanted to have a constitutional amendment to redistribute wealth in the United States of America. I don't think that's in keeping with the principles and values of this country.”
O’Brien responded to West’s comments by disingenuously asking him to name the members of Congress he was referring to repeatedly. After telling her to just took look up the list of progressive caucus members, it turns out that O’Brien already had the list in her hand. Of course she immediately started naming the Congress members who could easily be made a controversial issue, like Keith Ellison, Raul Grijalva, and Maxine Waters.
“There is no difference anymore between the communist, and the Socialist, and the anarchist,” Glenn interjected. “There will be again. At this point they're all joined on one purpose, and destroy the western way of life. Destroy capitalism, ownership, income equality, spread the wealth around. That's their goal.”
“You can call it whatever you want,” West told Soledad during the interview as she continued to press him.
“I’m calling it this,” West clarified. “Communist, progressive, Marxist, statist, another term being used. I’m looking at things they believe in. If you don’t think we have to stand upon truth and be able to identify and clearly contrast the different principles and values and ideologies of governance here in this country, then we’re never going to get to the fact of accepting the true debate happening in America. We don’t need a bureaucratic nanny state. We need to stay a Constitutional Republic. I think a lot of people need to study that and understand what it is.”
“Forget about the labels,” Glenn said. “What is it they actually believe? What do their actions say? When you put that next to the Communist Manifesto and the U.S. Constitution, which one is it closest to? If it's closest to the Communist Manifesto, is that where you to go? Let's forget about the name and the title, is that what you want? Let's have that debate. That's the real debate that's going on, but nobody is talking about it. Yesterday we were talking about Ted Nugent, or we're talking about food deserts, or we're talking about the scandal with the Secret Service, or we're talking about how evil Romney is because he wants to take birth control pills off of the bathroom counter of every woman in America. We're talking about something ridiculous. We're not talking about which direction you want to go, because that's all this is – direction. Are you going to go towards Marxism or towards Madison – either one, you decide. That's what America is about currently. We're not having an honest debate. The reason we're not is because of people like Soledad O'Brien.”
