Just a few days ago Newt Gingrich declared the Tea Party dead, claiming they no longer have any influence. Newt knows a thing or two about having no influence given that he himself has none, but in this case he has been proven wrong. The Tea Party scored a huge primary win as long time Republican Dick Lugar was sent packing.
"He was only in office for about 375 years," Glenn joked upon hearing the news.
Meanwhile, Stu and Pat mocked the tactics that senior Senators use to justify their long tenures in Washington. Many claim that they have to be there longer in order to head up committees - then they can actually start fulfilling the promises they made when they arrived decades earlier.
"You get your solid work done in the second millennium," Stu joked.
Glenn humorously added that in an ideal world, Senators would be put on ventilators or kept in cold storage, only to come out every once in a while to be defrosted and to vote. Then things could really get done in Washington!
