If there is something we have all learned from the past four years, you don't want to toss around the names "Hitler" and "Stalin" willy-nilly. After all, just the slightest mention from anyone on the right will bring the progressives and their lapdogs in the media down upon you with the fury of a thousand exploding suns. Or, if you dare point out that someone who quotes Communists as one of their biggest influences might just may be a Communist, you're crazy. But, of course, if you're on the left and attacking someone on the right - even a candidate's spouse - well that is a whole other story.
On MSNBC, Daily Beast Michelle Goldberg was discussing an op/ed by Ann Romney about motherhood.
Ann Romney writes:
Cherish your mothers. The ones who wiped your tears, who were at every ball game or ballet recital. The ones who believed in you, even when nobody else did, even when maybe you didn’t believe in yourself.Women wear many hats in their lives. Daughter, sister, student, breadwinner. But no matter where we are or what we’re doing, one hat that moms never take off is the crown of motherhood. [Emphasis added]
There is no crown more glorious.
And, of course, this brings to mind images of horrible dictators. Goldberg said:
“I found that phrase ‘the crown of motherhood’ really kind of creepy, not just because of its, like, somewhat you know, I mean, it’s kind of usually really authoritarian societies that give out like ‘The Cross of Motherhood,’ that give awards for big families. You know, Stalin did it, Hitler did it.”
"If I'm not mistaken, there is an entire wing of the Holocaust Museum dedicated to Hitler's love of motherhood. I believe. That's a huge part of that story. It's really important to bring that up because it's a huge part of Hitler's history," Stu joked when he heard the audio.
"The fact that Hitler pandered to people and honored mothers does not make honoring mothers evil," he added.
