You know things must not be going quite as planned for President Obama, when despite all the good will he has received from the media over the years, he has taken appearing on fluff outlets like People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight. Obama, who has evaded the White House Press Corp for more than two months now, decided to sit down with hard-hitting journalist, Nancy O’Dell, who still managed to make him look like a fool.
“One thing I admire about this President… is the way he takes the media head on,” Glenn joked on radio this morning. “He never avoids a challenging interview. It's – I think it's the gutsy, gusty call side of him. You know? It was on display this week as he braved the hot seat of both People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight.”
“That's murderer's row of journalism,” Pat added sarcastically.
One of the ET highlights of the interview came from this gem, in which the President claims there is nothing divisive about his campaign tactics.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: And I don't think you [O’Dell] or anybody who's been watching me campaign would suggest that in any way, you know, we have, you know, tried to divide the country. We've always tried to bring the country together.
“Oh, he's so right. So, when Joe Biden said Paul Ryan was going to put chains back on black people, what's the big deal? I mean, nobody could say that – nobody on Entertainment Tonight could ever say that he was trying to divide. Honestly I'm not sure how this guy sits there on camera with a straight face and says that.”
Considering President Obama’s refusal to reach across the aisle and work with Republicans, his constant dismissal of anyone and everyone who dares to disagree with him, and his darn near Marxist ideology, its hard to fathom how he could be considered anything but divisive.
“The man's done nothing but divide us,” Glenn said. “He pushes Marxist leftist stimulus bills, government healthcare, and wonders why the Republicans won't work with him. Because, Mr. President, it's okay in America that we disagree. In fact, 70 percent of America disagrees with you. Being a uniter doesn't mean Republicans and conservatives shut up and sit in the back of the bus.”
One can only hope that the honeymoon is over between the White House and the media, and journalists can now go back to doing their jobs – not pandering to the needs of the administration.
“This guy is a progressive Democrat where the press has been making him into the Messiah by putting the little halo around him for the last four years and now he's afraid to go to them. He's got to go to Entertainment Tonight,” Glenn concluded. “He's a coward.”
