With everything going on in the world, you have to wonder why the media is deciding that they want to focus on comments that Mitt Romney made about actual statistics of the number of people dependent on government aid in America. And yet that hasn't stopped Harry Reid from coming out and trying to distract from real issues by claiming that Romney only cares about 47% of the people in this country, the ones who pay taxes. Even worse, he tried to tie the remarks to his continuing attacks on Romney for not releasing more of his tax returns! The implication being that Romney has been illegally hiding his income and not paying his taxes!
In a long floor statement Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) excoriated Mitt Romney’s leaked comments on government dependency, again suggesting that the Republican presidential candidate himself may have dodged taxes.
Romney, he said, “only wants to be president of half the United States of America” — a response to Romney’s remark that 47 percent of Americans are “victims” who cannot be shaken from their dependence on government.
In his statements, Reid also said, "“For all we know, Mitt Romney could be one of those who have paid no federal income taxes."
"Harry Reid is a lying man. He is a very bad man. And he is bearing false witness to somebody. This is really bad stuff," Glenn said after playing the comments.
