On radio today, Glenn reacted to the shocking video of some Ohio teens who taped themselves joking about gang raping a young female classmate. It’s another sad illustration of how morally depraved society is truly becoming. Glenn talks about the problem and how to solve it on radio today.
Last month, the New York Times published a detailed report on an alleged gang rape in the small Ohio football town of Steubenville. Two Steubenville football players, Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond were arrested on Aug. 22 in connection with the alleged rape, Deadspin previously reported. Months later, exactly what happened that night is still unclear. Few witnesses have come forward to discuss what happened to the unknown girl, who alleges she was assaulted and photographed by athletes from Steubenville High.
In the newly released video, a male, identified by a number of media outlets as former Steubenville High School student and baseball player Michael Nodianos, seems to talk about an instance of rape and other disturbing events surrounding the incident.
"Now, there was a video, viral video and it's really pretty awful. A viral video that was going around from Steubenville in Ohio. Now, Steubenville, their football team is a ‑‑ this is one of those towns that revolve, it's like, you know, Friday night lights. It revolves around football. This is not a white issue; this is not a black issue. This is a white‑and‑black issue. This is the best possible story to point out our problems because it was blacks and whites that did it together. So it shows this is a human problem, not a race problem. This is a human problem.."
"I think I started saying this about 15 years ago: There's going to come a time when the two sides, good and evil, won't even understand each other and good will become very good and evil will become extraordinarily evil and there won't be anybody standing in the middle. We're entering those times. We're at the beginning of those days when evil is so incredibly evil and you can't even ‑‑ you can't even understand it."
Glenn played an edited version of the tape on radio, and warned that parents and members of the community need to take a more active role in children. He spoke last night with psychologist Dave Grossman, who warned that this kind of behavior came in part from the consumption of violent content in movies and video games. Glenn has also said that he believes that too much time spent on mobile devices has had a negative effect on kids and adults.

Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty released the following statement regarding the video:
The Steubenville police department has been aware of this recent video that was released. Since late August 2012 the subject who made the video was interviewed. This has all been turned over to the prosecutors which are the Ohio Attorney Generals Office, who is prosecuting this case. It’s always been the policy of the Steubenville Police Department not to make comments on details of a case prior to it going to trial. I know this is frustrating for some. I can’t change that now, as you know this is a high profile case and for the parties interested I believe I should not make a comment on it because I can’t make a comment on it. It’s being handled by an outside agency
TheBlaze added additional information about the town and the case:
As Business Insider notes, the hacker group KnightSec also released information on the town sheriff and the rape suspects. The group says the town is “rife with corruption, cronyism, illegal gambling and fixated upon their star high school football team.”
The New York Times and the Atlantic Wire have reported that many people in Steubenville have rallied around the football team and blamed the unknown alleged rape victim for making up the story.
The Atlantic Wire recently published a photo, released by Anonymous, of the girl being carried around while allegedly unconscious by her alleged attackers.
