Well, the sequester apocalypse is here. The world may not actually be ending, but according to Maxine Waters, everyone in the country (and then some) are going to lose their jobs.
"We found out from Maxine Waters yesterday how bad the unemployment situation is," Pat said.
"Yesterday we did have Mr. Bernanke and our committee, and he came to tell us what he's doing with quantitative easing and that is trying to stimulate the economy with the bond purchases that he's been doing because he's trying to keep the interest rates low and create jobs. And he said that if sequestration takes place, that's going to be a great setback. We don't need to be having something like sequestration to cause these job losses. Over 170 million jobs that could be lost."
That's A LOT of jobs. But, there's just one problem: there are only 134 million people currently working in the United States. So if Waters is right, about 40 million Americans…who already don't have jobs…are going to lose their jobs.
"Over 170 million jobs!" Pat joked. "That's 40 million more jobs than exist right now…so it's going to be so bad."
"Can I tell you something? I didn't want to ‑‑ I didn't want to tell everybody. Everybody, gather around. I didn't want to tell you this earlier, but we all have lost our jobs today," Glenn joked.
TheBlaze.com reported that:
"Luckily for America, the estimate is clearly wrong. TheBlaze could not find any data to suggest that the $85 billion in automatic sequestration cuts during FY2013 (about 2.4 percent of annual federal budget) would cause 170 million people to lose their jobs. Then again, that’s also impossible because there aren’t that many people working in America. Unfortunately though, once something is said, you can’t take it back."
