TheBlaze posted one of the most awkward and hard hitting interviews between the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and journalist Andrew Marr. The hard hitting and at times awkward conversation was a textbook example of what can happen when the press decides to do its job and actually ask the tough questions. But is it also an example of how quickly the media can target and destroy someone who gets out of line? Glenn played the interview and reacted on radio this morning.
"What has this guy done why is he being dismissed by the BBC? Remember, that's government news. What has he done behind-the-scenes," Glenn asked.
Watch the interview below:
To begin, Johnson, a former journalist, was questioned for purportedly making up quotes during his past career.“The Times let you go after you made up a quote. Why did you make up a quote?,” Mair asked.
“Well, again, these are big terms, but what happened was — I can tell you the whole thing — I mean, it was — do, do — are you sure your viewers wouldn’t want to hear more –,” the mayor responded, clearly uncomfortable by the question and calling the quote debacle a ”long and lamentable story.”
The host also took Johnson to task over lying to his political party about an affair he apparently had. Additionally, the host asked about a phone call in which a friend described a potential plan to physically assault a journalist.
While being questioned, Johnson was overtly uncomfortable and irritated.
“What does that say about you, Boris Johnson, making up quotes, lying to your party leader, wanting to be part of someone being physically assaulted,” Mair asked. “You’re a nasty piece of work, aren’t you?”
Rather than admit fault, the mayor said he would dispute the points raised against him.
"You do not take down a government official if you're being paid by the government. So what did this guy do to all of a sudden get the 'BBC'," Glenn said.
You watch because the more controlled the government gets over things, when you see somebody destroyed, and, you know, look we've seen it before. But they're obvious. Most people don't ask what happened to that guy? What happened to that guy? Where did he go? They've been against them from the very beginning. But you're about to see people who will be destroyed," Glenn said.
"You watch, people who have been fine with the media in the past, they're going to unleash."
