Pelosi: The Founders would totes love Obamacare

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made quite a claim last week, arguing that the Founding Fathers would totally love Obamacare! Yes, the men who founded an entire nation from scratch and drafted a Constitution that could have basically included whatever they wanted – and yet didn’t bother to include anything about universal healthcare – would be super excited about a massive, bloated, and failing before-it’s-even-implemented government program.

PELOSI: This week marks one year since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. It captures the spirit of our Founders, the spirit they wrote in the Declaration of Independence: life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, to be free of constraint and job lock and policy lock.

“I don't even know what she's talking about,” Glenn said.

“But here's what she's saying,” Pat clarified. “That this massive takeover over what percentage of our economy is it? 25 percent? A third? What is it?… Yeah, one quarter of our economy. This massive takeover by the government is what our Founders – that’s the spirit of the Founders? The spirit of massive government and socialism and forcing people to pay a tax to be citizens in good standing, that's all in the spirit of the Founders?”

“And that's why, of course, the Founders in 1791 put in the first government universal healthcare system…” Stu joked. “They were there and they put it right… oh, no, they didn't do that at all.”

The Founding Fathers could have put a lot of things into the Constitution – the right to a job, the right to land, the right to a certain salary, the right to healthcare – but they chose not to. And, more importantly, they chose not to for a reason.

“Yeah, they could have done a lot of things. They could have said you have a right to a job, you have a right to a certain salary, you have the right to shelter, you have a right to healthcare,” Pat said. “They could have given away plots of land and you could have owned the entire country with your citizenry, but they didn't do that because they didn't want to, and they knew it was wrong. They knew that system of government just didn't work.”

Sen. Ted Cruz: NOBODY should be afraid of Trump's Supreme Court justice pick

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Wednesday to weigh in on President Donald Trump's potential Supreme Court nominees and talk about his timely new book, "One Vote Away: How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History."

Sen. Cruz argued that, while Congressional Democrats are outraged over President Trump's chance at a third court appointment, no one on either side should be afraid of a Supreme Court justice being appointed if it's done according to the founding documents. That's why it's crucial that the GOP fills the vacant seat with a true constitutionalist.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Wednesday to talk about why he believes President Donald Trump will nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death.

Lee, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee that will consider and vote on the nominee, also weighed in on another Supreme Court contender: Judge Barbara Lagoa. Lee said he would not be comfortable confirming Lagoa without learning more about her history as it pertains to upholding the U.S. Constitution.

This week on the Glenn Beck Podcast, Glenn spoke with Vox co-founder Matthew Yglesias about his new book, "One Billion Americans: The Case for Thinking Bigger."

Matthew and Glenn agree that, while conservatives and liberals may disagree on a lot, we're not as far apart as some make it seem. If we truly want America to continue doing great things, we must spend less time fighting amongst ourselves.

'A convenient boogeyman for misinformation artists': Why is the New York Times defending George Soros?

On the "Glenn Beck Radio Program" Tuesday, Glenn discussed the details of a recent New York Times article that claims left-wing billionaire financier George Soros "has become a convenient boogeyman for misinformation artists who have falsely claimed that he funds spontaneous Black Lives Matter protests as well as antifa, the decentralized and largely online, far-left activist network that opposes President Trump."

The Times article followed last week's bizarre Fox News segment in which former House Speaker Newt Gingrich appeared to be censored for criticizing Soros (read more here). The article also labeled Glenn a "conspiracy theorist" for his tweet supporting Gingrich.
