For all the talk of how brilliant an orator President Obama is, he has proven time and time again he isn't very good at ad-libbing. As soon as his teleprompter goes away, he becomes incapable of speaking coherently. It happened again yesterday, during an appearance at the State University of New York – Buffalo.
“The president cannot introduce anyone without a teleprompter,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “Have you noticed that? He screws it up every time. He can't do it. Here he is in Buffalo, New York.”
The Washington Free Beacon has a video of the gaffe:
Instead of introducing Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, President Obama welcomed Brian Higgins, who is actually the congressman who represents the 26th District of New York.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: You're outstanding mayor Brian Higgins is here. Give him a big round of applause.
(crowd yelling)
PRESIDENT OBAMA: What? Byron Brown. That's -- let me -- what I -- what I meant was your congressman Brian Higgins is here.Your mayor Byron Brown is here.
“I love this! I love this! I love this,” Glenn said.
You might say the man made an honest mistake, but if you watch the video closely, the President is actually forced to look over to his right to read the notes on his teleprompter, which properly identifies Byron Brown as the mayor of Buffalo.
“He cannot,” Glenn concluded, “live without a teleprompter.”
