Dick Durbin introduced the ‘model’ of the DREAM Act candidate

On radio this morning, Glenn discussed Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and the flowery introduction he gave about a girl he claims is the quintessential DREAM Act candidate. He chose to highlight a young Pakistani woman, Alaa Mukahhal, from his home state of Illinois. What he failed to realize, however, is Mukahhal has a Facebook page where she openly trashes America and the ‘zionists’ in a series of f-bomb laced tirades.

Sen. Durbin called Mukahhal an activist “in the finest American tradition.” But this model “Dreamer” as been known to write obscene messages about Israel and the United States on her social media pages.

On September 12, Mukahhal posted to her Facebook page [language warning]:

F*ck Israel. F*ck Zionists and all the Zionist apologists. F*ck them all.

“I mean she's not hiding anything. He's, he used her as a model and said you need to know this woman. I agree with

“Dick Durbin, you want to have a conversation about the DREAM Act, I agree with him,” Glenn said. “You should know her because this is who she is. And this is what the DREAM Act is really all about."

Just one day after Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, which left over 1,400 people Israelis dead, 34 different student groups from Harvard University wrote a joint statement pinning the blame of Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel. In the following days after publishing this callous statement, these students staged a walkout and rallied in support of the Palestinians. As Glenn has discussed, this is not an isolated event, and campuses across the country have hosted similar rallies where antisemitic jargon like "we don't want no Jew state" and "globalize the intifada" is freely spewed.

While the Universities have not officially backed any of these rallies or student groups that organized them, they haven't stopped them either, which raises the question: should they? On one hand, these are American students in American Universities, who are protected by the First Amendment. On the other hand, history tells us how dangerous antisemitism is if left unchecked; and what of the rights of Jewish students to be safe on the campuses they pay to attend? Should Israel take over Gaza after defeating Hamas?
