But that mosque has a troubling history of clear links to terrorism, starting from the day it was founded.
For years, investigative groups have been warning about The Islamic Society of Boston's ties to radical Islam. After the ISB sued those groups, even more clear links to extremism emerged. But in the years leading up to the Boston Marathon bombings, city leaders and law enforcement consistently ignored all of the red flags.
In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, the FBI claimed there was nothing it could have done to prevent the attack. But For The Record spoke with investigators who tipped off the FBI about the Islamic Society of Boston's clear and documented ties to terrorism four years earlier. But the FBI never bothered to follow up with them.
