In yet another example of how out-of-control our society has become, an 8-year-old Florida boy, Jordan Bennett, is now facing a one-day suspension after he made a pretend gun with his thumb and index finger during a game of ‘Cops and Robbers’ with his friends.
The mother of 8-year-old Jordan Bennett said her son was only playing with his friend at Harmony Community School in St. Cloud. She fears his one-day suspension, which was handed down Friday, wrongly labels Jordan as a violent person.
“There was nothing in his hand. He used his thumb and index finger,” Bonnie Bennett told WKMG-TV. “It was a game. He made no threatening advances or threats to harm anyone. No words were said.”
…
The school, on the other hand, said the game crossed the line established by the district’s code of conduct. A school representative told WKMG while they can’t give specifics into the incident, it was reviewed and found in violation of school policy. The school did not specify the specific code violation that was grounds for the suspension.
“This happen isn't the first time a student has been suspended this year for making a pretend gun. Three 6‑year‑olds in Maryland were also suspended. In Virginia, a seventh grade student was playing with airsoft guns in his private yard before school hours and received a year‑long suspension,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “Where are the communities? If you don't stand up right now against this stuff, you're never going to be able to. If you sit there like sheep, you're never going to be able to get past it. You know it's wrong. Everybody knows it's wrong. It's a ‘Pow, you're dead’ with a finger! You know it's wrong! And they are bullying you.”
“I am so sick and tired of these schools trying to teach our kids how not to bully when that's all this society is about… This administration honestly wants to teach us how not to bully when [The President] calls us teabaggers? When they call us anarchists,” he continued. “Since when has going ‘pow’ with your fingers made you a violent offender? I'm telling you, if this is happening in your school district, you get all the parents together and you very calmly and rationally all go to the school board meetings. If you don't start coming en masse and start demanding that they arrest all of you because you apparently are carrying a dangerous weapon; in fact, you're carrying two because you have two index fingers and two thumbs. And you don't do it en masse and you don't do it peacefully, you'll never escape the tyranny that is coming your way.”
