As For The Record explained, if an enemy detonated a nuclear warhead high in the atmosphere over the US, it could destroy the electrical grid. And a Congressional committee that studied the threat determined that half of all Americans could die in the year that followed.
The potential threat of an electromagnetic pulse attack or EMP has been documented and is all too real. Some of America's enemies may either already have the technology to pull off such an attack or be very close to developing it. And based on their own words, they may be willing to use it to destroy the nation they call "The Great Satan."
The threat of an electromagnetic pulse against our electrical grid has been documented. In 1962, the Starfish Prime nuclear test damaged or destroyed electronics in Hawaii. The military was so concerned that it immediately raced to protect its own systems, but 50 years later the civilian electrical grid has no protection against EMP whatsoever. That means an EMP attack on the United States could knock out power for months or even years.
For viewers of The Glenn Beck Program, this is far from the first time this topic has been discussed. Waaaaaay back in February 2012, Glenn had Frank Gaffney and other experts onto his show to discuss potential threats to America, specifically those  threats coming from radical Islamists in the Middle East. On that episode, Frank Gaffney explained how Iran could devastate the United States with an EMP.
