Bob and Heidi Fu fled China when Heidi became pregnant without proper permission from the government, and they have actively spoken out about human rights abuses in China since coming to America. During an appearance on The Glenn Beck Program, the couple discussed the struggles they experienced to protect not only themselves, but fellow Christians from persecution.
When their home was raised by Chinese officials, Heidi was able to hide a small address book filled with the names and contact information of fellow Christians who attended their house church. She held the book during the search, and was able to hide it in a pile of clothes only after grabbing a jacket from her closet. She was then taken from her home.
They were imprisoned for unlawful religious activity for two months and placed in separate cells.
While the couple has actively spoken out against Chinese human rights abuses, they characterize the White House's treatment of China as one of appeasement.
