TheBlaze's national security editor Buck Sexton joined Glenn on Tuesday's Glenn Beck Program to discuss the history of Russia's security apparatus. There have been serious terror concerns surrounding the Winter Olympics given the geopolitical location of Sochi. The Sochi games are really a showdown between Russian President Vladimir Putin's massive security apparatus and some of the most vicious and capable jihadist-terrorists in the world.
To begin, Buck and Glenn discussed the power of Russia's FSB. Similar to the U.S. FBI, the FSB is a secret police that is not afraid to play dirty. There are no rules, as the FSB operates a total surveillance state and has a "huge" security presence in Sochi.
So what does the future hold? Most people do not understand the scope of the terror Russia has faced in the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union, and Buck believes a terror attack would actually work to further consolidate power and influence for Putin, much in the way the horrific Beslan hostage crisis did in 2004.
