You might want to remember this story the next time someone starts an argument about gun control.
On Monday night, two masked and armed men approached a seventeen year old girl outside of her St. Louis home. They grabbed her, forced themselves into her house, and used her as a human shield while her parents watched the scene unfold from the inside. It could have been a tragedy. But it wasn't.
Why? Because the family had at least two firearms in the house to defend themselves and their daughter from the attackers.
When the girl's father saw the men attack his daughter and approach the door, he and his wife both went for their firearms. He fired several shots, hitting both of the invaders. The man holding his daughter, Terrell Johnson, collapsed in the home and was later pronounced dead.
The second attacker, Cortez McClinton, was hit but fled the scene. McClinton's brother drove him to the hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his chest and thighs. He was soon charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary and armed criminal action.
