"This picture was taken right after the April, 2011 tornadoes that ravaged our hometown of Cullman, AL. My children were horrified. Instead of letting fear win, we dressed them up as superheroes and climbed on the debris to take back our emotions. This photo makes me feel empowered because we took one of the worst days in our history and learned to control our destiny. Recovery workers loved to see the kids helping clean up the town dressed as superheroes."
