With all that is going on in the world today it can be difficult to put things into proper perspective. Last week, Dave Benton, a local Illinois news anchor at WCIA-TV, told viewers that doctors had recently detected a brain tumor too large to operate on. The 51 year old has months to live. On radio this morning, Glenn played Benton’s words and explained his acceptance and grace under the circumstances represents “the place we have to get to.”
“We have to get to a place that's so dark, so bad, that we're so full of light and the darkness outside doesn't even bother us… It doesn't make a difference to us. It doesn't slow us down. It doesn't shake our faith,” Glenn explained. “I want to play you an example… I think this is absolutely amazing.”
“This is where we have to get. I don't know how we'll do it,” Glenn said. “You know, we have our own struggles. Everybody's struggle is different.”
As TheBlaze reported, Benton will undergo some treatment to slow the tumor’s progression. At this point, his goal is to simply add “a few more days and make them the best they can be.”
“That's unbelievable,” Pat concluded. “Listen to him. He gave us the key right there. We talk about it, you know, have you made peace with your maker? And he has. And that's why he's okay with it. He believes he knows where he's going. He's okay with that… And so he's facing it not with fear, but… with comfort.”
