There's a solution coming out of Washington D.C., but sadly it's not the one you think. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), a Tea Party favorite who quickly lost his soul after taking his oath of office, is joining Martin Heinrich (D - NM) on a new show from Discovery called Rival Survivor.
No, that's not a joke. But when life throws you lemons (or Jeff Flake's), you have to make lemonade (aka lots of jokes about Jeff Flake).
The Hollywood Reporter explains:
Set to air Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 10 p.m., Rival Survival follows U.S. senators Jeff Flake (R, Ariz.) and Martin Heinrich (D, N.M.) as they're forced to put their differences aside for six days and six nights to survive on an uninhabited island surrounded by shark-infested waters and disconnected from the world. The duo has a modest choice of items from which they can select only three. They're forced to use the limited resources and work together as they attempt to spear fish, build shelter and find enough water to survive for a week on Eru in the Marshall Islands, where the reefs alone are littered with venomous stonefish, lionfish and scorpion fish.
Yes, you read that right. Take a minute and read it again. Still sounds terrible.
"What a bunch of crap," Glenn said laughing. "I have never been more disappointed in anyone than Jeff Flake. This guy was rock solid, he had a chance."
Glenn and Pat both joked that Jeff Flake almost immediately turned his back on the Constitution and fell in line with progressive Republicans like Lyndsey Graham and John McCain.
"That's what happens to these guys. They get into Washington, think it is too hard, think 'I got to play the game'. They get lost further and further from the truth," Glenn said.
Well, the Tea Party may have lost Jeff Flake, but now they can watch him truly sell out. Flake and Heinrich brought the idea to Discovery, and shot the episode while the Senate was not in session. Unfortunately, Flake does not seem to have enjoyed the deserted island enough to stay there.
Glenn couldn't resist poking fun at Flake's new venture and the ridiculous story to announce it. Watch the segment below:
