In 2008, West Point graduate Sam Brown was deployed to Afghanistan. His vehicle hit an IED, causing third degree burns to 30% of his body – mostly places his body armor did not cover. His long road to recovery has included more than 30 surgeries. Recently, Sam and his wife were promised a new home through the charity organization, Helping a Hero. After a long ordeal, they came to realize that their dream home would not be built. Instead of focusing on the negative, the couple has chosen to be grateful for their blessings and the work of organizations like Sons of the Flag.
