Glenn kicked off the radio show this morning standing by a very strange bedfellow, prominent atheist Richard Dawkins. Last night, Richard tweeted out "No, all religions are not equally violent" in response to the terror attacks in France. While Glenn rarely, if ever, finds himself agreeing with the Richard, he had to recognize the statement of common sense on radio this morning at a time when so many were cowering in fear.
Glenn has made a point in the past of standing with people who stand up for common sense and truth, even when he wouldn't necessarily agree with them all the time.
No, all religions are NOT equally violent. Some have never been violent, some gave it up centuries ago. One religion conspicuously didn’t.— Richard Dawkins (@RichardDawkins) January 7, 2015
"That is huge coming from Richard Dawkins. You know, Penn Jillette talks to me about -- we've gone back and forth quite a bit about him. And he's friends with Richard. And he had said to me at one point that he felt that, you know, Richard kind of says things, you know, to stir things up a bit and kind of carrying that torch," Glenn said.
"I said [to Penn], how can you be friends with Richard? Do you ever counsel him not to say these things? And he's always stood by the fact that Richard Dawkins is very reasonable and not a hater, and that I have him wrong. This is the first time I've ever seen anything that he's said that I thought, okay, there you go, there's reasons there. Don't lump all religions together. Some have never been violent. Some have given up their violence centuries ago. One has not," Glenn said.
