Elon Musk is one of the top innovation guys in the world and it appears he’s still targeting the “Hyperloop” ultra high speed transportation concept. The idea had appeared to die down, but a recent tweet sparked it back up again.
Will be building a Hyperloop test track for companies and student teams to test out their pods. Most likely in Texas.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 15, 2015
Also thinking of having an annual student Hyperloop pod racer competition, like Formula SAE http://t.co/HV9BLCoMb8— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 15, 2015
"Will be building a Hyperloop test track for companies and student teams to test out their pods. Most likely in Texas," Musk tweeted.
The project would see a test track built to prototype Musk's proposed $6 billion project. The Hyperloop would provide high speed transportation from LA to San Francisco.
The Hyperloop would send people in pods traveling at over 750mph through a straight pneumatic tube. At that speed, the trip between the two California cities would only take about 35 minutes.
On radio this morning, Glenn talked about the incredible possibilities the Hyperloop could open up. Need to get from LA to NYC? It would only take an hour.
"Can you imagine that? You're having a meeting of somebody at 9:00 in the morning, I need to see you face to face. All right. Be there in an hour," Glenn said.
