Stephen A. Smith has never been shy about his opinion and when he speaks on cultural issues he brings a lot of common sense to the table. This week he said something sure to stir controversy, when he said he’d love to see all blacks vote republican for an election. Tough to argue with this reasoning.
Listen to the audio below via Mediaite:
In the speech, Smith tells black voters they have disenfranchised themselves by committing blindly to the Democratic party. He said, "Black folks in America are telling one party, 'We don’t give a damn about you.' They’re telling the other party, 'You’ve got our vote.' Therefore, you have labeled yourself 'disenfranchised' because one party knows they’ve got you under their thumb. The other party knows they’ll never get you and nobody comes to address your interest."
"So my point is, when you go buy a house, do you go look at one? When you go looking for a car, do you look at one? When you want to buy clothes, some shoes, when you want to buy anything, you are shopping around. You know what you are saying to somebody? Flatter me. Let me see what you have to offer," he continued.
Smith said he would love there to be one election where blacks vote for the Republican party as it will force the Democratic party to actually do something for their community in order to earn their vote.
