This morning on radio, Glenn mentioned that the United States embassy in Indonesia has already celebrated the 4th of July. Odd, to have our Independence Day celebrated on, well, not Independence Day. The reason? The 4th of July falls during Ramadan and the United States didn’t want to take away from the spotlight of Ramadan. Insane.
"We are celebrating a month early to respect the holy month of Ramadan, but today we remember the revolutionary Congress meeting on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia that issued America’s 'Declaration of Independence' that changed the course of modern history," said U.S. Ambassador Robert O. Blake.
